Peach Dish February 2014 Meal #2

Today was the first opportunity to make my second Peach Dish meal.  If you don't recall, Peach Dish is a meal delivery service.  They specialize in providing fresh ingredients with fabulous recipes right to your door.  You barely have to think, its great!  They're all about providing a good experience in the kitchen.

The meal today was BBQ Chicken Pizza with Lemon Pepper Broccoli.  The first thing I noticed was that the cheese was not just any cheese, it was fresh mozzerella!  Second, all the ingredients were fresh.  Lemon juice for the Lemon Pepper Broccoli was a real lemon not a packet of juice like it could have been.  A whole red onion was included and was far more than what was needed for the recipe.  I can always use onion so I'm saving the rest.

One thing that sort of put me off was the fact that the pizza dough was already prepared and in a plastic bag.  Now, I'm not complaining, I just thought it was funny that I just made biscuits from scratch on the last recipe but they don't trust me to make pizza dough.  Maybe its harder than I'm thinking.  I certainly can't say I've ever made it myself.
The other thing was the date on the dough was use by March 1st.  Yes, I know today is March 1st and its fine but I think that it might be better to get a pull date of at least one week from the date of shipment.  Not everyone can make the meal instantly!

This was a cinch to pull together.  I like the fact that they tell you the order in which to make each component.  This makes it so everything pops out at the same time and nothing sits around getting cold.

In any case, it turned out very nicely. I had one piece and DH had the rest. I didn't use all the dough because it was such a huge blob and there really wasn't enough fresh mozzerella to cover it all. Plus it makes for more chicken in each bite. :)

I think I am going to stick around and try another box next week.  The current menu is for the week of  March 4th:
Homemade Pita Chips with Herb Goat Cheese served with
Lemon-Dill Chicken and Orzo Soup with a Kale Salad with Pecans and Kumquats
Pecan-Crusted Mahi-Mahi and Potato and Turnip Mash with Horseradish

And don't forget each meal comes with a surprise dessert.

I'm going to wait and see what the week of March 11th is although I should just get this weeks because DH would love every bite of it.  I, on the other hand, can do without kale, pecans, turnips and horseradish.
I really like the fact that they give you the option to Skip if you get a look at the menu and decide it isn't for you.  It's REALLY easy to do.  You don't have to call or send an email or anything.  Just log in to your account and click 'skip'.  Easy as that.

Verdict:  This meal was quite tasty.  I still prefer the salmon meal I made earlier but I still think this is a fantastic way to get in a good home-cooked meal without needing a ton of experience.
