Sample Society March 2014

The Sample Society subscription box is curated by the editors of Allure magazine.
The Cost: $15/mo
What you'll get: 5 deluxe size samples from high end brands like Alterna, Dermalogica, and Murad.  You'll also get a monthly $15 code to use on a product from your sample box (although you must spend $50).  Also, included is a card booklet giving beauty and make up tips from Allure magazine.

I'm pretty happy with the selection I received this month.  I did know what I was getting before the box arrived because you can check your Sample Society account the Monday before they ship and see the contents.  Which is REALLY nice even if it does spoil the surprise.

Hair Products:

Alterna Caviar CC cream- 10 in 1 Complete correction leave-in hair perfector.
Included Size: .85oz
Full Size Value: $25, 2.5oz

Oscar Blandi Texture and Volume Spray- long-lasting body and texture
Included Size: 1oz
Full Size Value: $25, 4oz

This was the one slightly disappointing aspect of the box.  Two hair products.  I received two in my last box as well so I'm thoroughly overwhelmed with hair goop at this point.  I can't use them up this fast!  I will likely pass along one of these.

Face and Body products:

Murad Clarifying Cleanser- 1.5% salicylic Acid acne treatment
Included size: 2oz
Full Size Value: $26, 6.75oz

jane iredale Tantasia- Get a golden tan!
Included Size: no size specified, probably .25oz
Full Size Value: $36, 4.2oz

Jane Tran Hairpins- one bobby pin and one snap clip, both CUTE and both in my hair for no reason right now :)
Included size: 2 pins
Full Size Value: $12.50 for 8 pins

VERDICT: I like this box, though I wish there were less hair product.  The value is definitely there and the sizes are good.  The brands are also high quality which I appreciate.  I prefer not to get things I can buy in a drugstore in a subscription box.  Altogether I'm very happy about this box and cant wait to try the Murad cleanser and the Oscar Blandi Volume Spray.  The only thing I would never use is the self-tanner.  Those things scare me...
