Bare Minerals Beauty Surprise Box April 2014

In case you missed it, Bare Minerals has a Beauty Surprise box up for sale right now.  It has thirteen different mystery goodies (except they won't be mysteries anymore) and is ONLY available online.  They do have two spoilers listed online.  One being Primer Shadow in Cameo Pink and the other being a Flawless Face and Eye Double Ended Brush

The box promises $239 worth of beauty products for a mere $45!  Well, $45 is a lot but when you see what you are getting, you will either decide that's an awesome deal or it's not. :)

I got my surprise in the mail today and I am happy to share what I got with you.  You can still purchase this collection on the BareMinerals website.  It's still available but I don't know for how long.
Well, when they said surprise, they weren't kidding.  I *was* surprised to see such a haphazard packing job.
Maybe I'm spoiled.  I used my BeautyArmy box (I love the BeautyArmy boxes!  They have flap lids!) to give a better idea of what this Beauty Surprise Collection contains.  It's a LOT of stuff.
bareMinerals Ready Illuminating Touch Up Veil in Transluscent-  This is a great small mirrored compact.  It comes with a sponge puff.
Value: $22

bareMinerals Ready Luminizer in The Love Affair- Enhances your complexion with a radiant glow.  A smooth, silky formula with skin-nourishing benefits.  This is no longer sold this way and now comes as a duo with The Shining Moment. (discontinued)
Value: $26

bareMinerals Ready Eyeshadow 4.0 in The Next Big Thing-  This is also a nice mirrored compact.  The outside is blue.  The eyeshadows are Rising Star, Smash Hit, Hoopla and Ensemble (in clockwise order starting with the top left gold one).  I'm not sure what to think about this.  If I used them will I just make myself look sick?  The colors actually look really great but I'm not sure if I can pull them off.  (discontinued)
Value: $29
bareMinerals Prime Time Foundation Primer 1oz-  Apply a thin even layer over face, then apply foundation.  Gives a smooth, even complextion.
Value: $23

bareMinerals Prime Time Primer Shadow in Cameo Pink 3ml-  This was shimmer-tastic and darker than I was expecting. I was thinking it would be a faint baby pink but this is more of a rose.  I like it! (discontinued)
Value: $18.99

bareMinerals Prime Time Brightening Eyelid Primer- This is what I was expecting the Cameo Pink to look like.  This is a nude shimmer eyelid primer.  You can wear it alone or with shadow applied over it.  The sparkle is pretty intense on both of these primers.
Value: $18.99

Alright, so the green shadow is not part of the surprise package.  This was a gift added to my cart for making my first purchase (I usually purchase in stores).  This green is called the Real Deal and its... well... a darkish green.

bareMinerals Illuminating Mineral Veil .57g- This powder gives you a pearly, ethereal glow that reflects light.  I have the Original matte look and I love it.  I'm interested to try this. Drat the blurry photo!
Value: $1.50 (Sample Size)

bareMinerals Bare Radiance .57g- An all over face color, this lustrous amber sheen is multitalented — you can wear it over or under your bareMinerals, or mix it right in. You can even put it on your lips and eyes.
Value: $1.50 (Sample Size)
bareMinerals Flawless Face and Eye Double Ended Brush- It's so weird looking!  But I'll use it.  The only bad thing is that I can't put it in my brush holder because... well, theres a brush on both ends.  I suppose it'll have to be my travel brush. (discontinued)
Value: $16

bareMinerals Contour and Define Double Ended Brush- One end is rounded and the other angled.  These look like the brushes that come in the kit, just stuck together. (discontinued)
Value: $16
To me, this is the most disappointing part.  I don't really care if things are discontinued but receiving THREE lip colors that are practically identical?  Not too thrilled.

bareMinerals Natural Lipgloss in Cupcake- This is just a teenytiny bit lighter than the Sugar Plum (discontinued)
Value: $15

bareMinerals Natural Lipgloss in Sugar Plum- a little darker than cupcake and seems more sparkly. (discontinued)
Value: $15

bareMinerals Pretty Amazing Lip Colour in Rouge- No sparkle in this one.  I tried this one first.  Its a LOT darker than I was expecting.  The wand applies the color a little strangely but it is very nicely pigmented, gives great coverage and is only very slightly sticky.  No strange smells or tastes, yay!  This could possibly be my new favorite! (discontinued)
Value: $16

I'm sure there are subtle differences in these lip colors. I still think they should have put DIFFERENT colors in!  Like a nude or a purple or something! Of all the things to send out discontinued, I would think that lipsticks would be the most iffy.  No one likes a rancid lipstick.

VERDICT:  In spite of the lipstick and boring packaging, I'm happy with this.  There are ten of the thirteen products that I will use.  The ones I won't are one of the lipsticks and the Ready Eyeshadow 4.0. One of the double ended brushes is possibly going up for swap as well.  I'm coming up with a value of just over $200 so they must value something discontinued a little higher than what I found it for. **Never mind, it was the Prime Time Eye Primers.  I valued them at $10 but it should have been $18-fixed it though**
Eight of the thirteen items are discontinued.  Two of the non-discontinued items are sample sized.  Eleven items are full sized.
So there's pros and cons.  I love all the full sizes.  I don't mind discontinued product and on some of the discontinued ones, I think they were just name changes and package changes. I'm not too concerned about that but I know others may care so I've noted all the discontinued and sample items. :)

  1. Whoa, that's quite a steal! I keep going back and forth over whether to get this or not. I really want to try the Primer Shadow, Bare Radiance and the Cupcake lip gloss (okay maybe I want to try everything) but I just don't know if I wear makeup often enough to use all of these before they go bad :( It's either this or the Allure beauty box...I can't decide!

    1. The Allure Beauty Box just has way too much hair product for me to want it now. I'm so glad they tell you what's in it otherwise I would have been so sad! I was going to try to tell you what I wanted to use first but I can't. I want to use it ALL! Well, except that Sugar Plum lipgloss. Yay, swaps!
