Beauty Army May 2014 Review

Beauty Army is one of the few subscription sampling services that let you choose your samples.
They have a rotating array of samples that you get to choose from.  Based on your answers in your profile, they will suggest some for you but you can change your answers easily to see if there are other options for you.

I signed up for a three month gift subscription via Rue La La back in March.  I didn't realize you could skip, though I probably wouldn't have anyway.

The Cost: $12/month

What You Get: 6 samples of your choice from the Beauty Army collection.

One of the things I love most about Beauty Army is their box.  It has a flip top lid and I am using every one for make up supplies.  I like it so much better than having to keep track of a lid.  Silly, I know but it's true!

Here's what I chose for this month.  I had to do a lot of profile tweaking to get these items.  I think that you can just call them and ask for all the ones you want when you can't get them all to show up on your selection page.  Unfortunately, they have a lot of foils and I was trying to avoid them.

Hask Argan Oil from Morocco-  This is a big packet!  There are several uses in this packet.  I bet I can find a bottle to transfer it to, in order to make it more user friendly.

Nelsonj Beverly Hills Argan Oil 7-in-1 Non Foaming Shampoo- Natural Citrus Mint flavor and it smells delicious.

Novex Brazilian Keratin Extra Deep Hair Care Cream-  More hair care, I know.  I got it because it was the biggest sample they had. :D

No. 7 Lift and Luminate Day & Night Serum-  reduce the appearance of fine lines, visibly lifts and evens skin tone.

(not pictured because I forgot) Juice Beauty Oil Free Moisturizer- .17oz lightweight and balancing.  It's in a little tube.

Laneige BB Cushion SPF 30-  This was by far the most interesting thing.  I wanted this one the most.  It's not what I was expecting, I will say that!  It come in a cardboard fold out with an insert.
The insert has four pockets.  One is a reusable puff pad for applying the BB cream.  The other three are Light, Medium and Dark shades of the BB cream.

The BB cream is in a cushion!  You press the pad onto the cushion and its supposed to help you apply only a limited about so you aren't slopping the BB cream all over your face.  I guess... Anyway, I used this in the Light shade.  I was intrigued by the application method but the actual BB cream gave my face the shiniest coating on earth. I looked like I'd smeared on a coating of oil, thats how shiny it made me.  I wiped half off then left the other half on to see if maybe the shine would go away and I was judging too quickly.  Nope.  Still shiny after an hour.  This Laneige BB cream is not for me.

VERDICT:  This was my last month with Beauty Army and I won't be renewing.  The selection is so limited and there are so many foils that it just wasn't worth it.  I think I paid $8 a box and I would rather save that money for another month of Ipsy or something.  It was a fun experience but I won't be subscribing again.

  1. So weird about the Laneige bb cushion.. normally they are amazing at what they do :O

    1. I was expecting it to be magic, I admit. I did like the application method but definitely not the shiny, shiny, shiny face!
