Julep June 2014 Bombshell Welcome Box Review

I received my first official Julep Maven box today!  This is the welcome box for June 2014 new subscribers. You can also get a free Julep Welcome Box by using the code FREEBOX at checkout.  You will only have to pay $2.99 shipping.

The Cost: $24.99/month

What You Get: A customize-able box of exclusive nail polishes, along with beauty products like hand cream, top coats and cuticle oils.  You will also receive free shipping and 20% off everything in the Julep store.

I took the Style Profile Quiz and when I was finished they recommended the Bombshell box.  You don't have to get the box they choose for you.  There's a button you can click to see what the other options are.  In my case, the quiz was correct because I did prefer the Bombshell box.  With your Welcome Box, you can see the contents you will receive but you cannot customize them.  Your second box will be fully customize-able during the 20-24th of the month.

Awesomely included in this box is a 50% off coupon for your next purchase at Julep!  I wish I would have known because I already just bought some things using the 20% off Mavens get.  I'm sure I can find some more things though.

Here's what came in my Bombshell Welcome Box:

Freedom Polymer Top Coat- I don't have any other top coats so I'm really happy to have this.  I like the shine it gives to my nails.

Bette- Electric neon purple creme.  I never met a purple I didn't like so this will definitely be used.  Based on the swatch, it's going to need a few coats.  It's pretty runny, too.

Laree- Golden pink taffeta shimmer.  I love this color!  Funnily enough, I have it on my Julep Wishlist, too!  I guess I can remove it now.

I've pretty much only dealt with Julep via their Mystery Boxes because I just couldn't see using all that nail polish.  However, since starting my subscription box craze, I've become actually pretty proficient at painting my own nails!  I change my polish pretty regularly (right now I'm wearing my SquareHue ala moana Satin with a wave of Hope Girl gold shimmer).  I think I'm going to start with Laree even though purple is usually my favorite.

Julep recently revamped their system and I think that was a very good thing.  Now instead of getting a preset box (Bombshell, Classic With a Twist, It Girl or Modern Maven), you start with a box (mine will be Bombshell) and then you can mix and match from the items included in the other boxes.  So if you want three nail polishes that month, you can have them.  If you want a beauty product like make up and a hand creme with your nail polish, you can do that, too!

Another offering they have with your monthly box which I haven't experienced yet is the Secret Store.  Each month when your box goes live and you get to customize, you can also choose to purchase things for a big discount in Julep's Secret Store.  I haven't done that yet but I'll let you know how it goes next month!

VERDICT: This is a good start to my subscription.  I will always use a top coat and I love Laree.  The Bette seems a little thin and will probably require two or three coats but I will use it.  This is a great way to get new, on-trend nail colors so I'm glad to be subscribed through the summer.

If you would like to sign up at Julep, I would love it if you used my referral code!  Once you take your quiz, don't forget to enter in the code FREEBOX to get your welcome box for free!  This will enroll you in their program so you will have to call and cancel if you aren't impressed.  You can also use the code HELLOYOU to get a free Summer Brights Collection with your first box.  Only one code can be used so you'll have to decide.

*referral links were used in the making of this post :)

  1. Now I wish I took a closer look at the welcome boxes because I think this would've been my favorite one! I've had my eye on that top coat and the Laree looks gorgeous. I wonder if you can use the 50% off coupon for the summer mystery box..hmmm... According to the tracking I should be getting mine in today so I guess I'll find out!

    1. I think I checked and it specifically says that you can't use it on Mystery Boxes. They have a few gift sets that I'm thinking of using it on. :) I'm sure you'll have another chance to get the top coat in the next few months!
