Julep June 2014 Mystery Add-On and Eye Catching Kit Review

I received my Julep order today.  This is not a Maven box but I did purchase the Mystery Add On along with my Julep Eye-Catching Kit.  I purchased this using the Maven 20% discount and a coupon code.

The Julep Eye-Catching Kit was $19.99 and it included five polishes along with the Plie Wand Creativity Kit.  The polishes I received are Jet, Brigette, Bette, Harley and Lizanne.  I did just receive Bette in my welcome box so it is a dupe.  The rest are new to me.  I'm glad to have the black and white since they are likely necessary for doing my own nail art.
Jet- Jet black Creme
Brigette- Bright white Creme
Bette- Electric neon purple creme
Harley- Liquid silver metallic Chrome
Lizanne- Sea-green Shimmer

Also in the kit is the Julep Plie Wand Creativity Kit.  When I purchased this, I didn't realize it was an extension of the Plie Wand but I'm pretty sure I can still use it.  This includes a Striping Brush and a Dotting Tool.  I cant wait to get started and try them out.  I've never done anything like this before so I'm sure I'll need a lot of practice.

Along with this kit, I decided to purchase a Summer Mystery Add-On for $9.99.  This option arrives at checkout and you can add all sorts of things for a fairly reasonable price.  I personally think Julep is overpriced for what you get but they have so many deals that you can easily make it worth it.

In this case, I received a package of Forget Me Not seeds along with three polishes.  Since I had a coupon code these were less than $3 each so even though one is a repeat for me, it's still a great deal.
Michelle- Midnight, inky blue Creme
Vera- Sable Brown Creme
Lizette- Yes, another one!  Two sea green shimmers! I'm not really complaining since its a very pretty color and really, it's a mystery.  At least it's a summery color!

VERDICT: Fun stuff!  Shipping was free because I'm a Maven now and I got this super quick because I live so close.  I'm going to have a lot of fun with the tools and this is a nice variety of colors.  What colors I choose not to use will be swapped for ones I do like so it's not an issue.  Since I'm new to Julep, there are a lot of colors I don't have so the likelihood of getting doubles is pretty low.  I'll let you know how good I am with the tools after I try using them!

If you would like to sign up for Julep, you can get your first box free with the code FREEBOX!  Take the quiz (I'm a Bombshell) and see what they recommend for you.  If you don't like it, you can switch your box (theres a button on the right underneath the description of what they've selected for you) to whichever option you really want!  I actually did end up with the box they chose for me so in my case, the quiz worked out.  This will enroll you in their subscription program which you can cancel anytime.  Until then, you will get 20% off everything in their store and free shipping on what you purchase.  With your first box, you will also get a 50% off coupon for a purchase so keep that in mind! 1. I love the Plie Creativity Kit! I'm horrible at nail art so I picked one up and it makes my attempts look a little less horrible :) These Chuck Taylors were the first thing I tried and surprisingly I got quite a few compliments :) I recommend trying that one out because it makes use of both tools and it's pretty straightforward. Have fun!

    1. Oh, that is good to know! I can't believe you started with something so hard! I was just going to try dots! :D Hmm... Now decorating my nails will be an adventure for sure! Did you get the Plie Wand, too? I dont have it so I'm just gonna use it as is.

    2. I did get the wand too, but I didn't notice a huge difference with it. I may just be using it wrong, but I felt like I had just as much control holding the short stubby little nail polish brush. My favorite is the skinny brush in the set. But I still haven't mastered getting nice solid lines; I always run out of polish halfway through the line or have too much on the brush and it comes out goopy. If you discover any tips on how to use the brushes, I'm all ears!

    3. I still don't get the whole Plie Wand thing. I personally LIKE being as close to my nail as possible and holding something so far away seems counterproductive. I'm gonna try the striper next. I used the dotter today and it went fine. I can totally see how it could easily be too much or too little, I'll have to keep that in mind and see if I can figure something out. How do you usually do the polish? Right out of the jar?

  2. I did the same thing you did in the red marker sale today. I got the creativity kit but I don't have the plie wand. I figure I'll get it later. I got 4 polishes and the creativity kit for $16 in the sale today. I agree that they're polishes aren't worth the retail price the the deals are amazing.

    1. I'm glad I'm not the only one that things the regular prices are outrageous! I did try the dotting tool today and I don't think I really need the Wand. I do need something to put the polish in though because I think it's easier to dip out of a small dish than off the brush >.< I hate to waste the polish though so I need to come up with something. I'm glad you were able to get what you wanted in the Red Marker Sale! It sounded like there was some problems although I didn't have any.
