Mantry August 2014 Review Grill and Chill

This is the August 2014 Mantry box and it's the first one I've received since subscribing.  I used a coupon code (now expired) to get this first box for $50.  I had hesitated before because it's a high priced box and it's food.  With the coupon, though, I thought I'd give it a whirl!

The Cost: $75/month

What You Get: A delivery of new and exciting foods every month. The monthly crate allows you to discover and eat 6 full-size, super premium foods from around America, with little commitment.
One fun detail that sets Mantry apart is the wooden crate all your goodies come in!  Made out of wooden slats, its 8"W x 11"L x 5"H.  It's super cute and I want more because I can think of a million uses for them.
This box was stuffed full.  In fact, once I took everything out, I couldn't figure out how to get everything back  in.  Since its a MANtry, I was going to have DH open it (after I did) but I had to put the salsa on the side.  I guess I could have looked at this picture I took but I was too excited to think of that.

This had some pretty great stuff in it, I can't lie.
Grady's Cold Brew Bean Bags-  This stuff is amazing!  It's for making you own iced coffee and we've already used two of these bags.  This is a spicy-smooth mix of chicory and dark-roasted coffee beans.  Put the bag in water over night and in the morning (or afternoon), pour this over ice and enjoy.  I did dilute this with some water and added some sugar free vanilla syrup and it was fantastic.  DH drank it straight and got a hefty caffeine buzz.
Value: $12

Holy Smoke Smoked Olive Oil-  This is also fabulous.  Cold-pressed California extra virgin olive oil, cold-smoke with hickory and pecan from the Carolinas.
Value: $15
Zukali Fire Roasted Pineapple Salsa-  This is a great sauce of roasted pineapple, cilantro and chilies.  It's smells mouthwateringly delicious with a hint of heat.  It's very runny so while it's not perfect for chips, it is excellent on tacos!
$7.99

Pata Negra Imperial Dry Cured Chorizo- High grade hams, Iberian smoked paprika and five weeks of aging make this chorizo pretty freaking flavorful.  DH sliced it and ate it plain and loved it but I think we will use some of it to spice up breakfast with what is left.
$14.95
Bob's Red Mill Israeli Couscous- Nutty, chewy semolina-flour pearls from the connoisseurs of all things grain.  We haven't used this yet but I do love the Bob's Red Mill brand.  Especially because they have all the weird things like almond flour.
Value: $12.99

Bourbon Barrel Foods Bourbon Smoked Sugar-  When you read that you probably thought it was going to say salt.  But it's not salt.  It's sugar!  Great for baking, hot cocoa drinks and french toast.  :D
Value: $11

VERDICT: This is a new, fun box for me.  It's normally a $75 but I paid $50 for it using a coupon.  The value is right at $75 and the products are very interesting and delicious.  Everything in this box will be used, although it will probably take some time to use up all the sugar.  I was going to say that this box is too expensive but if you are a foodie and you love specialty items, this is going to be an excellent box for you.
Personally, I'm not super into crazy and interesting food but DH loves it.  He wants to get another one, so we will be continuing this subscription!

I find that when it comes to food boxes like this you have to be more into the food than into getting value for your money.  These aren't sample boxes, this box has big, full size products.  It's more about the curation, I guess than the value.  I would like to get value AND curation, though, so I can be a little down on boxes that come in undervalue.  This Mantry was spot on so I'm not complaining.

What do you think of Mantry?  This was our first one and it was a good one but I'm interested to hear what regular subscribers think of it.

New Memebox Naked Box #24 has Great Contents!

I've been trying not to bombard you with too much Memebox but this is a box I really can't resist sharing with you.  Mainly because *I* like it so much.

Memebox has been adding Naked Boxes to their repertoire fairly infrequently but the awesome thing about them is that you know what you are paying for before you get it.

If you pay attention to my Memebox Deals page, you will see I have a section listed there for Naked Boxes.
It's actually hard to keep up with because they keep changing their website in production.  I just had to fix the links again.

Anyway!  This one was too good to pass up and is probably better than a Jackpot box, too.

The Cost: $23 plus shipping

What You Get: Everything you see below!  Ships September 11th

A-True Black Tea Cosmetics Haul and Review

A-True is a Korean cosmetics company that specializes in skincare containing black tea instead of regular water in their products.

I received a huge stash courtesy of my friend Marjolein and her contact at A-True.  There was so much product, I hardly knew where to start!  So what did I do?

I drank tea.

A-True uses a specific black tea in their cosmetics.  It's a particularly delicious, floral, fragrant tea and it tastes absolutely gorgeous.  Yes, I just said a tea tastes gorgeous.  It really does.

A·TRUE only uses black tea water.
Based on ‘Compagnie Coloniale’s’
premium black tea

The Compagnie Coloniale® is produced using only the best quality black teas, originating via traditional methods which have been passed down for over 200 years.

The process of obtaining black tea water

A·TRUE utilizes the method of steam distillation to obtain black tea water. This unique steam process maximizes the effectiveness of black tea water and is a safe way to deliver health benefits to the skin.

Benefits of The Black Tea Water

Black tea is also full of healthy substances called polyphenols. Polyphenols are antioxidants that can help protect your cells from DNA damage.

Quarterly.co Toys and Collectibles #TOY01 Review

Quarterly.co has some of the boxes out there.  This review is for their new Toys and Collectibles box (#TOY01) but they have SO many other boxes curated by either themselves or a plethora of personalities.

The Cost: $39/quarterly

What You Get: Quarterly: Toys & Collectibles will send you items related to Toys, Art, and Design.
Quite honestly I had no idea what to expect in this box.  Toys and Collectibles can be very subjective.  This box had four items in it.

Ipsy September 2014 Sneak Peek #1

 ipsy september sneak peek #!
I've actually been really happy that Ipsy's been releasing a bag spoiler earlier lately.  This is the Ipsy September Sneak Peek #1!
I also freely admit that one of the reasons I love this subscription is that it is only $10 which is pretty easy to justify.  The brands Ipsy sends are a mix of high quality and mid-range and I like getting a new random makeup item or two or three every month.

The Cost: $10/month

What You Get: Each month, subscribers will receive a beautiful Glam Bag with deluxe samples and full-sized beauty products.

This month the first spoiler is a natural brand!  This will make a lot of people happy, especially if they are very ingredient conscious.  I'm ingredient conscious but more focused on efficacy than whether natural ingredients are used or not.

And the spoiler is....

Post Weekend Wonderings

I had a great weekend at a Kite Festival on the Pacific Coast!  We were there with friends and it was so fun and relaxing and exhausting at the same time.

The only bad thing was that there was NO internet access!  Talk about withdrawals!  I missed my boxes and my blog.  The day we left, I even got my husband to leave late, hoping the mail would get here before we left so I could get my Loot Crate.  It didn't work, so I got home to a nice pile on my porch today.

Also, totally loving my my husbands Loot Crate.  I think anything Groot would make us happy but a Glow in the Dark Funko Groot makes us REALLY happy!

I have some new and interesting boxes that should be showing up.  Mantry has already shipped but I don't know what's going on with Hatchery.  New Beauty Test Tube is on it's way, too!  Yay!  I also signed up for a Try the World Paris box.

We got a new bed today!!  A Tempur-pedic kind!  We've had the crappiest bed ever for the last six years.
It's got two very deep valleys in it and after a friend extolled the virtues of her Tempur-pedic mattress, we finally bit the bullet and bought one.  We got the Tempur-Contour Elite.
It's so fabulous!  I can't even feel my husband tossing and turning.  We also got these gel cooling pillows that are amazing!  I sleep hot but these pillows are amazing and helpful with keeping me cool.

I also ordered a whole set of IT Cosmetics Travel Makeup Brushes from Beauty.com.  I've never purchased anything from that site before but I liked getting a free full size Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner with my order.

Thank you dear and wonderful readers!  I just hit 275 followers on Bloglovin'!  Woohoo!  I know I love my Bloglovin' feeds and I'm thrilled to be in yours :)  Thank you for your support!

I've gotten several workings for a new blog logo and banner but nothing that is exactly what I want yet.
You may see some appear and disappear while I try to get what I like figured out.  Thanks for bearing with me during this transitional period.

I've got so a many Memeboxes coming, I've stopped keeping track and just get happy when I see one.  I still need to get my K-Beauty Wrap Up review completed but I'm having the hardest time figuring out what on earth I actually got.  The info cards this time around weren't very helpful.  And I'll say right now that the box was less than impressive.  Ugh.  I think I'm done with any Memebox that has anything to do with the "best" of anything.  Certain boxes have been absolutely stellar but the "best of" boxes seem to be severely lacking in awesome products.

On that note, Memebox has released a new OMG! box and a new My Cute Wishlist.  They've also put out a K-Style 3 but I'm not recommending it.  In my opinion, the My Cute Wishlist is freaking adorable, the OMG! was not very OMG but *very* worth it with practical products.

And if you haven't seen it yet, Popsugar has a $10 off code and a spoiler out! See my post about that here.
It's a good one and if you haven't subscribed, you might want to consider doing it.  I'm not sure if you'll get August (I think it's sold out) so make sure you uncheck the box that says "waitlist for current box" or something like that when you are checking out if you don't want this months.

I'm pretty excited for all my new boxes this week.  I'm branching out a little and someone suggested that food boxes are easier to get "rid" of than cosmetics so we'll find out how true that is!  I'm always hosting parties (or rather, everyone is always showing up at my house) so food stuffs goes pretty quick around here.

Thanks for joining me on  my sub box adventures!  I hope you are having as much fun with your boxes as I am with mine :)

*referral links were used in this post and I'm always thrilled when someone uses them.  Thank you in advance if you choose to use any of them ever :)

Loot Crate August 2014 HEROES Review + Coupons and Spoilers for September!

My August 2014 HEROES Loot Crate sat on my porch for two agonizing days.  We were leaving for the weekend and I tried to stall until the mailman got to my house but I just couldn't drag it out long enough.  So while I was at the beach, in the back of my mind I was desperate to get my hands on this wonderful black box.
Each Loot Crate we have received so far has been an epic treasure chest of awesomeness. It is not like finding a hidden chest, only to discover 10c and a piece of gray junk gear.  No, each box has been like the big, sparkly golden chest that appears after a 45 minute boss battle.  No need or greed necessary.  It's allll yours!  Or in the case of my husband, it's all mine but I'm generous.

The Cost: $13.37/month

What You Get: A box full of unique, interesting and fun gamer geek l00t catered to a new theme each month with occasional awesome T-shirts included.  Always worth at least $40.

Barkbox Allergy Box for August 2014 Review

This is the Allergy Barkbox for August 2014.  You may not have known that Barkbox will curate a box for dogs with allergies!  They don't promise to avoid your dogs exact allergies but what they do is remove any items that are the most common among allergy suffering dogs.  Chicken, wheat, soy, corn, gluten, etc, etc.

I was so happy to read about it that I subscribed for a whole new box, just so I could see what the difference would be.  You just have to send them an email and ask for the Allergy box and they will confirm via email that they have marked your box to be curated as an Allergy box.

The Cost: $29/monthly or less, depending on the length of subscription.  You can get 10% off any length subscription by using my link.  That's a pretty substantial savings for a longer subscription.

What You Get:  Every month you will receive a box in the mail with four or more carefully selected products and presents for your dog – anything from toys, bones and all-natural treats to hygiene products and innovative new gadgets! Don't forget to request an Allergy box if you need one!

I was so excited when I saw these box contents.  They were completely different than the regular box which I had received the day before.  I wouldn't have minded if it had contained some similar items since I loved that box but there was no overlap!  It came with a note, too.
Barkbox acknowledged my request for an Allergy box by email and confirmed it doubly with this card inside the box.  So these products are not an accident, they really did make a box just for my dog with allergies.
Dexter cannot digest chicken.  It's a bummer because so many treats come with chicken in them even if its not labeled as a Chicken treat.  It can be the tenth ingredient in the treat and Dexter will puke it up.  Sorry! TMI but its true!  When I wrote the original email I told them that but I don't know how much stock they put in it since really they just promise to avoid common allergens (and chicken is one of them so I lucked out).
Here are the boys with their Barkbox!  Bugsy wants that red frog so much, as you can tell.  Dexter is being perfect and looking at me, waiting to see if I'll say "Okay" so he can go stick his nose in.  I decided I better take care of the toys before Bugsy had a heart attack from all his excited shaking.
R2P Monkey Silly Bums- This is a crinkling, squeaking... Monkey bottom.  It actually has no top half. No face... just the bum.  Bugsy went NUTS for this.  The crinkling had him playing with this for hours. Literally. Hours.  He only just stopped in order to eat dinner.  I opened this box about four hours ago.  Haha!
Value: $8

Pet Qwerks Red Tree Frog- This has, wait... had a squeaker.  Bugsy killed the squeaker already.  The frog is still whole, though.  He looks hilarious carrying around since one of the legs is usually hitting him in the eye.
Value: $8
While the toys were a hit with Bugsy, the treats were for Dexter.  We always end up with chicken treats (although the Posh Pet Box catered to his allergies, too, which was nice) but not in this box!!

Dexter is a rat terrier (so is Bugsy) but he is our little recessive dog.  He got all the problems.  And then he has his ears.  I don't know what happened but his ears curl backwards. This is a pretty good picture of it. You know how dogs with floppy ears have ears that flop forward? Yeah, Dexters flop backwards.  The vet said she'd never seen anything like it.
He is, however, the sweetest, lovingest dog in the universe and we love him to bits!
Treat Planet Hare of the Dog 100% Rabbit with Aronia Berry-2.5oz- Dexter hit the jackpot today!  Rabbit treats! Hooray for unusual proteins!  These are made in the USA and have two ingredients!  Rabbit and aronia berry.  Dexter loved these, he grabbed one and ran off so fast!
Value: $9

Healthy Dogma Blissful Banana Crisps-7oz-  I bet I could eat these.  Maybe I will...  Tastes like banana :) The only ingredients are bananas and coconut oil.  I've had this brand before and those treats were a hit, as well.  The packaging is a little inconvenient but the dogs happily cleaned up what spilled.  It's a lot of treats!
Value: $12

VERDICT: I love the fact that Barkbox has a box for dogs with allergies!  I love this box because it made my dogs happy and it had two treats that Dexter can eat without any issues.  They are both limited ingredient and tasty!  I paid $29 for this box and it has $36 worth of toys and treats.  Plus I didn't have to make a trip to the store and I get to try things I can't find near me.  The novelty of some of these toys and treats is what gets me.  I never would really think of getting these things myself but so far the dogs have enjoyed everything so I think it's worth it!

If you would like to sign up for Barkbox, you can use my link and get 10% off your subscription! Personally, I think this is one of the best things I've done for my dogs because it keeps them busy with new things and me stocked up on tasty treats.

*referral links were used in this post, thank you in advance if you choose to use them!

Memebox Earth and Sea Cosmetics Spoilers! Two of them!

 memebox earth and sea
Alright, so I've been saying this box is going to be wonderful and suggesting it to everyone I know and don't know.  Here's what Memebox says about it:

"When toxins, dirt and oil build up get under the skin, its waste-filtering system gets jammed, ultimately clogging up pores and making skin look dull.  So, we're bringing you nature’s clean up crew to clear the way for cleaner and brighter skin.

Charcoal, volcanic ash and mud all work together to draw out dirt and excess oil to extract stubborn impurities from deep within pores! Mineral rich marine energy works as the step 2 treatment for refining pores and replenishing moisture to the skin."

I'm so happy with these spoilers I could die.  It's just what I was hoping for!

Memebox Brightening Care Review

Whee!! My Memebox Brightening Care showed up today.  I'd totally given up on tracking it since it seemed to be taking it's time getting here so when it was dropped off on my porch, I didn't even know which one it was.
That's probably bad, too, huh?  Not knowing which Memebox it is...  Well, there's more out there and they'll get here eventually!  I had seen the spoilers for this box but wasn't sure if I was really going to love everything or not.  The Cleosis product was the one I was the most doubtful of.

Barkbox August 2014 Review + 10% Off Coupon!

Woohoo!  It's Barkbox time!  I think it's funny because a dog box is never a box I thought I would love getting so much but it's one of the best investments I've made.  It's investing in the continued happiness and entertainment of my dogs and it is worth it!

The Cost: $29/month or less, depending on the plan you choose.  Get 10% off any length subscription with this link!

What You Get:  Every month you will receive a box in the mail with four or more carefully selected products and presents for your dog – anything from toys, bones and all-natural treats to hygiene products and innovative new gadgets!

Bulu Box August 2014 Review- This is Not for the Faint of Heart...

I got my August 2014 Bulu Box a few days ago.  If you follow me on Instagram, you've already seen the contents but they're...  Hm.  I'll let you decide for yourself what you think.

I'm trying to remind myself that this is a sample box.  There are no full size items (or if there are, it's very rare).  The regular price is $10/month but you can regular find Groupon deals or coupon codes that will get you a box for $5.  Even so, I'm not sure it's worth it.

The Cost: $10/month or get a great deal at Living Social-3 months for $15!

What You Get: A custom box filled with a new mix of 4 to 5 premium samples from top brands to try in the fields of heath, nutrition and weight loss.

Ipsy August 2014 Review! Does it Beat Birchbox this Month?!

It's my Ipsy August 2014 Glambag!  This is one of my new favorites.  I've been getting Ipsy for about four months now and I've been enjoying the things they send.  Not everything is perfect for me but there are some super fun things I normally would never try so I've been enjoying my subscription.

One thing I do like are the fun makeup bags (glambags!) that come included each month.
This months was orange and white and while I'm a fan of orange, I didn't care for the plastic material it was made out of.
However the log roll shape of it is conducive to easy storage space so I'll use it anyway.

The Cost: $10/month

What You Get:  Each month, subscribers will receive a beautiful Glam Bag with deluxe samples and full-sized beauty products.

Posh Pet Box August 2014 Review- The Posh Boss + Exclusive Coupon Code!

 A customisable monthly dog box
The August 2014 Posh Pet Box arrived today!  The wonderful people of Posh Pets sent this box to me for review and I'm super excited about this.

I'm sure you all know how much I love my dogs.  If you don't know, you will soon find out.  My dogs are my children and I love to spoil them.  And that's what this Posh Pet Box is all about!

Posh Pet Box is a monthly beauty subscription box for dogs. They offer designer dog clothes, toys, treats, and accessories for the most discerning pet parent. When you sign up, you will fill out a pet profile, identify "How Posh Is Your Pet?", and select the custom or curated plan.  Yes, you read that right!
With the Posh Pet Box subscription you have the ability to create a custom box that fits your pups needs!

The Cost: This particular box is the Posh Boss box and is $49/monthly.  Plans are cheaper the longer you choose to subscribe.

What You Get:  Quality all natural dog treats and funky toys with a flair of beauty and style.  Is your dog just about the toys and treats? There's a box for that. What if you have a particularly fussy dog? There's a box for that. Finally, is your dog completely over the top? There is also a box for that! Posh Pet Box specializes in carrying designer dog clothes, all natural and organic treats, cool dog charms, travel items, and much more!
My Posh Pet Box came in a big, snazzy black and white box.  When I opened it, I immediately loved the big heavy sheet of paper that supplies all the information you need about what you've received.  I tried not to look at it so I could be surprised but I love the way they've done this.

Memebox Jack Pot Box! Are You Ready For This?

 Memebox Jackpot
UPDATED!!

The Memebox Jackpot Box varies from 1st place to 10th place, and there will be multiple winners for the 2nd to 9th places.

Plus, everyone is guaranteed to receive at least $155 worth of Memebox for $32.

The 1st place winner will take home $1000 worth of Memebox all-time favorites, and even our 9th place winners will be guaranteed at least $155 worth of goodies!

Make sure you sign up for an account at Memebox if you haven't done so already.  You'll get 2 Memepoints for signing up (that's $2).
Then use code GWFF if you haven't used a code yet this month.  That will give you $7 off anything you want already!  If you spend more than $100 using any of the links on this page, you'll get an additional $5 off at checkout that stacks with all other promotions!

If you are not already signed up for the Memebox Newsletters, you should do it!  If you want to be "in the know" and get boxes before they're sold out, you need to be.

You can see if you are subscribed already to Newsletters by going to the Email Subscription Preference tab on the left of your Account screen.  If the box for General Newsletters is checked, you're already in.  If not, check the box!

The Jack Pot Box goes on sale on Friday, August 22nd at 1pm PST.  (Thank you, Szilvia, for the correction!) The cost is $32 plus shipping.  So it will be $38.99 total.

There are ten different boxes that can be "won".  All the boxes are worth more than $155 with one being worth $1000.  I contacted Memebox and they said that there are many boxes of all prize places (2nd place is worth $400 and 3rd worth $300) so you have a high probability of winning any of the boxes.

This sounds like it could be something like a Luckybox.  I'll update this post if I get any other information or sneak peeks about these boxes.

I haven't decided if I'm going to get one, mainly because I just had to go buy a new shelve and set of plastic drawers to hold all my Memebox stuff!  I've got waaaay too much!

If you haven't seen it there's a new coupon code out to save 10% off orders above $100: 10%OFF$1004U

With these spoilers, I am bowing out of getting one of these.  I have too many of these products already.  I'm happy to see they are putting IOPE in there but it's not worth it for me right now.

*Now theyve changed the values to $155, it makes it more tempting...  Id like to get some IOPE...
