Barkbox August 2014 Review + 10% Off Coupon!

Woohoo!  It's Barkbox time!  I think it's funny because a dog box is never a box I thought I would love getting so much but it's one of the best investments I've made.  It's investing in the continued happiness and entertainment of my dogs and it is worth it!

The Cost: $29/month or less, depending on the plan you choose.  Get 10% off any length subscription with this link!

What You Get:  Every month you will receive a box in the mail with four or more carefully selected products and presents for your dog – anything from toys, bones and all-natural treats to hygiene products and innovative new gadgets!

I think this month's theme is so fantastic!  I really don't know how Barkbox does it.  This time its "Ahoy, Matey" and everything went over really well!  August is the best month around here and is a great time to be in the water!  Off to the lake we will go!
Bocce's Bakery Lobster Roll Treats-  Made with barley flour, lobster, kelp and parsley, these are wheat free and the dogs loved them!  I can't believe they only have four ingredients.  Made in New York, so they're up to my standards, too.  And fortunately, they don't reek like the alligator treats we got last time do :).
Value: $10

Pet Rageous Lobster- This is a floaty toy!!  Bugsy LOVES the water and we only have one ball that floats.
The ball that floats also squeaks which drives everyone in the vicinity absolutely nuts because Bugsy squeaks it for every second that its not in the water.
Now we have a new floaty toy which also squeaks but its a lot harder to squeak than a ball.  I can't wait to take him to the water with this.
Value $6

Muddy Buddy Dog Mop- This is amazing!  It soaks up 7 times its weight in water and will dry your pup faster than the average towel AND its snuggly!  So, you may not remember but I do live in Seattle and we get plenty of rain.  This is going to be perfect for those days when I force them outside to do their business by themselves. :D  And for lake days with Bugsy.
It's funny because Dexter HATES the water.  Absolutely HATES it.  If he sees Bugsy go in, he cries.  If he sees me go in, he howls!  Stands at the water's edge and makes the most horrible noises you've ever heard! So we have to leave him at home or in the parents house when we go down.  He's so fussy.
Value: $12

Safemade Nautical Bandana-  This is so cute!!  With it's red, white and blue and its anchors, its so... ship-tastic!  Unfortunately, it's made for a 5lb dog, not a 15lb one so we are giving this to our friends who have a 5lb dog and a boat!  They'll love it.
Value: $4

Bixbi Daily Essentials Chicken Breat Jerky Treats-  These are made of chicken breast, blueberries, cranberries and mushrooms.  Since these are chicken, only Bugsy can have them.  As a side note, I will be posting a review of the Allergy Free Barkbox later!  If you have a dog with allergies, you might want to make the switch (or sign up!).
Value: $10

VERDICT:  Another fantastic Barkbox.  I think I've only ever had one that was kind of a dud but for the most part these are full of dogtastic goodness!  I love the toys and treats combo and I think the Muddy Buddy Dog Mop might be one of the most handy dog accessories I've found in a Barkbox.

If you've been on the fence about a Barkbox, let me just say that you should try it, just for a month, at least.
I didn't know how many things my dogs loved until I started getting these boxes.  There have been toys (I'm thinking of the Crab from the July box) that have been so loved, they get taken to bed as well as played with all day.  Normally, I wouldn't even consider a toy like that but Bugsy loves it!  Dexter loves these funny smoothie packs we've gotten twice now and I think they're so ridiculous but they are good at keeping him busy.  If you have a puppy, the boxes have great treats for training, and will give your dog constant new stimulations with toy variations.  I really do love these boxes!

Sign up here and get 10% off any length subscription you choose. You can cancel anytime right from your account with no hassle.  You'll need to choose the size of your dog so you'll get appropriate sized toys.  We get the Small dog box since our dogs are under 20lbs.

Stay tuned for the Allergy Barkbox review!

  1. Great mix of stuff this month! I've still gotta put up my review, but it's safe to say that ours didn't have as good a variety as this one. Maybe I'll go and buy one of those car wash mitts and use that to dry off the furbutts!

    1. I can't wait to use mine! It's pretty big, too! Well, its the perfect size for my dogs anyway. This is one of the few times I've gotten this many items, too.
And as you can see, you created a monster (me). I can't stop putting things on Bugsy's head now. It's totally your fault, too. :D Well, yours and those beer treats he would do anything for. I need to find those somehow.

    2. It's addicting, amirite? For a while I was going nuts with it and tried to see how many kibbles I could put on his head/snout before they rolled off. That's when I found out he has a really round head and I got frustrated. Now I'm working on balancing huge things on there. Haha. I'm such a horrible dog-mom.

    3. Tooootally addicting... Bugsy's head is small and he has to flatten his ears to keep the big things on there. He's so funny looking :D I saw a ridiculous Imgur with a dog that balanced fruits and veggies on his head. Like a papaya and a potato and squash... Then I knew I wasn't so bad. If you are putting pumpkins on Macho's head, then maybe you are horrible. But until then, you're fine!
