Birchbox August 2014 Welcome Box Review

First, I should explain that this is my first month in a three month Birchbox Gift Subscription.  So technically, I think this is what is considered a Welcome Box.  I think this is a great box and I’m not sure if it’s because of that or if it’s just because I changed my profile around to get better things.

The Cost: $10/month

What You Get:  4-5 deluxe and sample sized beauty products ranging from nail polish and eyeliners to gummy vitamins and tea.

I was so happy when I saw the contents of my box!  Especially for the nail polish although I have so much already I don’t *need* it.  I don’t have this color, though!  This box is a great mix of makeup, hair and skincare.  The tea just makes it for me.  I love tea.

Color Club Gala’s Gems Collection in Aquamarine Azulino– This is a shimmery pale blue with a pearly finish. This is the first nail polish I’ve received from Birchbox and I’m super happy to have it!  It’s a mini size which is perfect for me and I’ll definitely use it.

Number 4 Super Comb Prep and Protect– A sulfate-fee conditioning spray that protects your color from UV rays.  If I wasn’t totally in love with Birchbox’s Beauty Protector Protect and Detangle, I would be more likely to use this.  Maybe if I run out…

Coola Environmental Repair Plus Radical Recovery– A soothing lotion with agave which moisturizes, protects and calms your skin after sun exposure.  The first ingredient is aloe so it really would be good for sunburn soothing.  Sadly, it has lavender so I can’t try it.

Cynthia Rowley Beauty Eyeliner in Black– This is exclusive to Birchbox and is a very creamy eyeliner.  I have one of these already and I am feeling a little inundated with black eyeliner lately.  I suppose its the most popular color but I’m secretly hoping the silver one of these pops up in one of my boxes.

Harney and Sons Fine Teas in Organic Green Tea with Mint– I really like this brand of tea.  I also love getting tea in my subscription boxes.  Plus mint tea is right up there at the top of my favorite tea list!

Harney and Sons Fine Teas in Roobios Chai– Earthy with a hint of Indian Spices.  This is not like the Chai you get at Starbucks (which is LOADED with sugar).  This is a delicious blend of rooibos needles and cinnamon, cardamon and ginger. Yum!

VERDICT: This is one of the best Birchboxes I’ve received.  So many things I like are in it!  Even though I’ve already received the Rowley pencil and the Number 4, and I can’t use the Coola, I can recognize a good box when I see one.  I think Birchbox tries not to give dupes and in this case they aren’t because this is a different subscription than the one I got the other items on.  Yes, I have two subscriptions…  But this one is a gift sub so it doesn’t count, right? 😀

If you would like to sign up for Birchbox, you can do that here.  It’s $10/month and you can cancel anytime right from your account.  Make sure you fill out your Beauty Profile once you sign up so you can get products that are a little more tailored to you.  I say “a little” because it’s definitely not an exact science.

You also will receive points for filling out surveys of each item in your box.  Once you get 100 points (review 10 items) you will have $10 to spend in their store.  It’s got GREAT stuff in it and I stick with Birchbox mainly because of all the “free money” from points.  You can get anything from high end skincare to Jonathan Adler home items so there’s something for everybody.  I love it!
