Birchbox August 2014 Review! So Many Fun Things!

Ever since I switched some of my profile answers, my Birchboxes have been so good!  This is the August 2014 Birchbox and I think it's a really good one!

The Cost: $10/month

What You Get: Samples and sometimes full size items, including everything from makeup and skin care to non beauty essentials like candles and tea.

I ended up giving the contents of this box to a friend of mine.  She needed a little pick-me-up and this was a perfect little box of goodies to give to her.  So, in the case of this box, I will tell you what was in it but I did not try any of these.

Benefit It's Potent Eye Cream-  It's potent! eye cream fades dark circles & helps smooth fine lines for brighter, younger-looking eyes. Contains a peptide complex known to help restore elasticity & firmness, a blend of hydrating botanical extracts and loquat extract, known to help protect the skin from free radical damage.
Since there were two of these, I gave one to my mother-in-law, as well as one to my friend.

Dr. Jart BB Dis-A-Pore SPF 30- This all-in-one, innovative pore tightening formula delivers flawless coverage, sun protection, and hydration benefits. The perfect mixture of smoothing powder and elastic silky polymer gives tight adherence and covers blemishes and pores, fine lines, and uneven skintone. It helps to smooth and clear skin by treating large pores while herbal extracts control excessive sebum and present a fresh look all day long. The multifunctional BB cream brightens, provides antiwrinkle benefits, and protects the skin from harm UV rays, leaving the complexion smooth, beautiful, and natural-looking.

Naobay Body Radiance Lotion-Packed with botanical moisturizers like olive oil, shea butter, and avocado oil, it deeply nourishes and hydrates skin. What’s more, it’s made almost entirely of natural ingredients (and nearly 20 percent organic ingredients) and comes in packages made of sustainable cardboard—for a product both you and your skin can feel good about.
I do like this lotion, mainly because of the scent.  It smells so good!

Amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo with Sea Buckthorn Berrry-The weightless spray absorbs excess oil and dirt, leaving locks clean and deodorized as well as lighter and softer. Plus, it can be used on color-treated hair.
I don't understand how to use dry shampoo.  It never seems to work like it's described.  Either I'm using too much or not enough. I even took some advice and applied it at night and slept on it so there wouldn't be visible white flakes in my hair.  Maybe if I was blonde it would work better?  I don't know.

Noir Long Wear Eyeliner in Black- Noir’s stay-put black eyeliner combines the ease of a pencil with the drama of a liquid liner. It glides on like a velvety crayon and doesn’t shift, fade, or run. Plus, it's waterproof!
My friend was so excited about this!  It's got a great, smooth feel and nice pigment.  I was happy she wanted it so much!  It made me glad even though it meant I wouldn't get a chance to use it.
Sometimes a few fun beauty products are just what you need when you're going through a rough time, right?!

VERDICT:  This is one of the best Birchboxes I've received.  I'm not sure if Ipsy will win the battle this month!  These were great sizes and a really wonderful variety of makeup, skincare and hair items.  While the Benefit eye creams are cardboard pockets, two of them were sent which is really nice.  I am SO glad I switched my profile around!  I really think it worked!

If you would like to sign up for Birchbox, you can do that right here.  For $10 a month, it's a lot of fun.  It's also really nice to get a box in the mail, right?!  Plus the Birchbox point system can't be beat!
Use code: BBPLUS100 to get 100 Birchbox points added to your account!  That's $10 to spend in their totally awesome store!

  1. You got a great box! I love the idea of applying dry shampoo before bed. I am definitely trying that!

    1. Sleeping on it really did work to get rid of the flakes. I just don't think dry shampoo and my hair get along very well. Or I'm still doing something wrong... I want to love it because so many people swear by it but I just can't!

  2. My box was a little bleh this month but Birchbox is always sort of worth it because of the point system. :)
