Blush Mystery Box August 2014 Review

I love the Blush Mystery Box so much.  This August 2014 box is no exception.  This is a great box, in my opinion.  Actually, it's not a box, it's a bag and I always look at the bag that says its a box on it and my brain sort of wants to explode.  I'm sure they call it a box because it fits in with the subscription box title but really, I think it would be okay if they called it a bag, don't you?  Although, when I say it outloud, I definitely like box better.  So never mind.

The Cost: $24.95

What You Get: At least $100 worth of luxury beauty and skincare products in mostly full sizes.

Dr. Brandt BB Matte with Signature Shine Erase-  This is one of the things I can't wait to put to the test.
This is a BB cream that promises to matte your face all day!  It also provides SPF 30 which is great.  If I can wear this in the garden and come back in looking awesome, I will use this forever.
I also appreciate that the sunscreen used is zinc and titanium dioxides.  I prefer to go for the big guns when it comes to sunscreens at my age.  This is also silicon based which I personally prefer in a face make up.  I like the smoothness of it and the way it makes my face look.  The fact that it's also moisturizing is a big win.
Even better, this has hyaluronic acid in it, which in my opinion, is pretty close to being the most amazing moisturizer there is.
It seems like an orangey pink color but it really melts into my skin.  You can't really even tell it's there.  It also seems to have the added bonus of minimizing the look of fine lines.  I like it so far.
Full Size Value: $39/1oz
Size Included: Full Size!

SkinMedica Dermal Repair Cream- I'm so excited for this product!  I'm so sad its not full size but at a whopping $75 an ounce, I suppose I can be satisfied with 1/4 of that.  This is an ultra-rich cream moisturizer with vitamins C and E.   Indeed, the first two ingredients (after Water) are Vitamin C and Vitamin E.  It's also got a spectacular array of moisturizers including Aloe Leaf Juice, Sodium Hyaluronate, a myriad of oils and even some retinyl palmitate!  This is something I can use with confidence and actually expect to get results from.  The only thing it doesn't have is niacinamide which is good for lightening dark circles, acne scars and increasing ceramide production.
Full Size Value: $124/1.7oz
Size Included: .25oz

Pixi by petra Lid Last Shadow Pen in Graphite Glint- This is a shadow, liner and highlighter all in one.
Although what you are going to highlight with a dark color like this is beyond me.  Not a fan of the color at all.  Well, as a liner it's fine but for a shadow?!  I guess I'm pretty tame when it comes to shadows and prefer my neutrals.
Full Size Value: $18/.16oz
Size Included: Full Size

Nailtiques Protein Nail Lacquer in Tahiti-  This is a very pretty hot pink creme and I like it!  I'm currently loving my SquareHue Copacabana bright blue glitter polish with a coat of Julep Queen Anne (lilac microglitter) on top.  This hot pink will have to be next!  I'm  not looking forward to three layers of glitter removal...
Full Size Value: $10/.33oz
Size Included:  Full Size

Nick Chavez Plump 'n Thick Thickening Shampoo- This shampoo will restore body, fullness and vitality to lifeless locks.  Well, technically your hair *is* lifeless so...  I was looking at the ingredients and it has hydrolized wheat protein, keratin and retinol.
Why would you put retinol on your hair?  It's not even beneficial until it's been broken down and your hair can't break anything down, it's dead.  Maybe your scalp could but you're just washing it off before it can really do any good anyway.  However, if this makes me look like I have more hair, I will be thrilled!  The reviews for this are raving so I'll definitely use it.
Full Size Value: $20/8oz
Size Included: 2oz

Neuma Style Texturizer- Mold and style your strands for a frizz free look that lasts.  Hm.  This particular info card is probably the least enlightening card I've read today.  I think this is like mousse.
Oh, here's what the website says: "Add touchable texture to your tresses with NEUMA neuStyling Texturizer. The lightweight lotion helps you mold and style your strands, creating a smooth, frizz-free look that lasts. Green algae extract fortifies and replenishes moisture while apricot oil enhances shine and improves manageability."
That is far more interesting than the card.  I don't usually do much with my hair.  It's pretty straight when I blow dry it so I don't fuss with it much.
Full Size Value: $24/4oz
Size Included:  Full Size

VERDICT: This Blush Mystery Box has a value over $110!  Pretty good deal when you consider the price is only $24.95.  Of course, then there's the "will I actually use it" value.  I will use four out of six items.  I won't use the Neuma or the Pixi shadow.  Everything else will be used by yours truly.
I have to say that this also was a very well balanced box.  Two skincare, two hair care and two makeup items is a pretty great mix.   A little something for everyone is in this box.
I also like how this box consistently has high end skincare products in it.  I'm all about skincare right now.   When I saw that Skinmedica, it was almost ridiculous how happy I was about it. :)

You can get this exact box on the Blush.com website.
