Bulu Box August 2014 Review- This is Not for the Faint of Heart...

I got my August 2014 Bulu Box a few days ago.  If you follow me on Instagram, you've already seen the contents but they're...  Hm.  I'll let you decide for yourself what you think.

I'm trying to remind myself that this is a sample box.  There are no full size items (or if there are, it's very rare).  The regular price is $10/month but you can regular find Groupon deals or coupon codes that will get you a box for $5.  Even so, I'm not sure it's worth it.

The Cost: $10/month or get a great deal at Living Social-3 months for $15!

What You Get: A custom box filled with a new mix of 4 to 5 premium samples from top brands to try in the fields of heath, nutrition and weight loss.

Dream Water-  A zero calorie sleep and relaxation shot.  This has GABA, melatonin, and 5-HTP which will help you get a better nights rest.  I'm all about a better nights rest so I'll drink this.

Forgiven Think Clear- This is a drink to take after you have had too much alcohol.  I'm pretty sure that it's your liver that facilitates alcohol metabolization but this professes to clear harmful toxins so you wake up refreshed and your weightloss stays on track.  Huh.
Zestra Essential Arousal Oils- So, I'm not sure what this has to do with weight loss or your health.  Be *cough* ready in minutes with these botanical oils.  So, I'm guessing Bulu Box is running out of ideas.  Or samples.  Or brains... What a ridiculous thing to put in a sample box!!

Bikini Ready Energy Gummies- Gluten free gummies with vitamin B-12 and caffeine to increase your metabolism and give you energy.  So, first off, these are awful.  They taste hideous.  And the caffeine two of these is a quarter cup of coffee.  Quite frankly, Id rather drink the coffee!  Blech.
Volovitamins Energy- A unique blend of vitamins, minerals and fruit powders with natural energy boosters to help fuel your body and mind.  Now while I'm sure that this blend of vitamins isn't exactly unique, I'm guessing this might taste good so I'm going to try it.  In the morning.  I'll let you know how it goes.

OxyTherm Pro-This is a thermogenic blend that targets and turns off the receptor in your body that holds on to stubborn body fat.  Whoa, whoa, whoa.  Stop right there.  A magic pill?!  Oh, right.  There's no such thing.  So really its diet and exercise that gets rid of stubborn fat.  Such a bummer.  Taking a pill is so much easier!  Except it doesn't work and candy tastes better.  This pill is caffeine and some plant extracts.  And there's only one so there is literally zero way to figure out what results it could bring.

VERDICT:  Bulu Box is going downhill.  My first Bulu Box was great!  Full size items!  A 30 day supply of vitamins...  down to this.  This box...  With its arousal oil ridiculousness and its one pill that will get rid of your stubborn fat!  I paid $5 for this box and it was a waste of money.  The regular price is $10!! I would be very unhappy if I had paid that for this.  I pay $10 for a Birchbox and get full size items!

Alright.  End rant.

If you want to sign up, which I don't really recommend, you can do that here.  Use coupon code JOINBULU to get 50% off your subscription.

*a referral link was used in this post but I won't mind if you don't use it.  Save yourself! :D

  1. One of my very early reviews on my blog was called something like ,"Bulu Box: Worst subscription box ever?" LOL Honestly they do a terrible job of hiding the fact that they pay absolutely nothing for their samples. They could definitely add more into these boxes and stop doing all the low-price box sales and possibly have a good subscription on their hands! The stuff I received in my last Bulu box was all marked "promotional item only" or was a little packet that you can get for free with a GNC purchase. I know it's $10 a month, but they can at least look like they're TRYING! lol

    1. It's pretty ridiculous. Even funnier is that their social media guru retweets my terrible reviews to their followers! They should pay more attention to what we are saying about their box!

  2. Maybe I'm a bad person for thinking this way, but I see a terrible story of bad decisions and regret in these samples. Perhaps it's the juxtaposition of the "arousal oils" and "Forgiven" shot, lol.

    1. Ahahaha! You're totally right! I did sort of thing the same thing... What? Do think think we are sex starved, booze-addicted, overweight insomniacs or something?

  3. I'm a fool and signed up for the year at 50% off. Lesson learned after the second month! With that said, I actually liked the box that had the Rescue Pearls and the Noxicare cream. This month I received a bag of Tomato Basil puffs that weren't too bad, but everything else I just can't even bring myself to try. I'm not sure I even tried anything from last month, either. Hmmm.

    1. Don't beat yourself up too hard. I've been getting this sub since March (I think). I thought the first month was awesome but after that they became increasingly worse. I didn't get the box with the Noxicare cream but I was a teensy bit jealous of it. Sometimes there are good things but NOTHING I would ever buy! Like I will use the Dream Water but I'm not going to run out and buy it. Everything about Bulu Box just seems... shady, sort of. I'm not sure that's the right word but... Like a snake oil salesman type thing.
