Birchbox September 2014 Review

I always love finding these boxes on my porch.  This is the September 2014 Birchbox still nestled in it's mailing box.  Birchbox has continued to impress me since I switched around my profile.  I had been very disappointed with my boxes but they are definitely improving.
When I pulled this out of the outer packaging, I had to smile.  It's such a colorful fun box.  I need to find something to do with it.  I didn't keep any of the boring brown ones but when they're fun like this, it's much harder to toss them in the recycle bin.
My box this month was stellar!  While I won't use all the products included, I always like to see the larger size samples in my boxes.  Birchbox tends to have the biggest problem with sending decent samples, so this month it was nice to see how much was in the box.

The Cost: $10/month

What You Get: Monthly deliveries of 5-7 high-end beauty and lifestyle samples from top brands.
It's a Davines party in my Birchbox this month!  The Conditioner sample is worth more than my Birchbox and the two foils are bonuses for the month.

Davines Oi Absolute Beautifying Conditioner-2.5oz- Loaded with apricot butter and roucou oil, this detangler protects and softens hair.  It also speeds up the drying process.
Value: $14

Davines Oi Absolute Beautifying Shampoo-.4oz foil sample- Suitable for all hair types this will add softeness, shine and body to your hair.

Davines Oi Absolute Beautifying Potion- This oil has strong detangling and restructuring action
with an anti-frizz effect.  I'm all about anti-frizz but not so much about slathering oil on my hair.
Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser Starter Kit-1oz- This is what I'm really excited about! I've been wanting one of these for ages to try it out.  This is a cleanser that you use with the included muslin cloth.  First you massage the cleanser on dry skin, then you use the wet muslin cloth to wash it off.  It smells really good and has rosemary and eucalyptus oils in it.
Value: $9
Tommy Girl by Tommy Hilfiger Eau de Toilette-1.5ml- This is a vial of tommy girl.  I used to wear this when I was in high school.  In fact, I think it was the first perfume I ever bought from a department store.  My dad wouldn't allow us to wear perfume (or even use hair spray) in the house so I always had to put it on at school and then hope it wore off by the time he got home from work.

Pixi Shea Butter Lip Balm in Honey Nectar- a deeply moisturizing, shea butter tinted lip balm.  This is a pretty neutral and I like it.  This is my second Pixi lip balm and I've liked both colors and formulations.  I'm pretty sure this is full size.
Value: $8

Yu-Be Moisturizing Skin Cream- This is an all over hydrator good for lips and knees.  It's also small and boring. :D  It does work, though.  It sorta reminds me of vaseline...

VERDICT: This Birchbox was worth $31 which might be the most value I've ever had in a Birchbox. My favorite things are the Liz Earle and the Pixi. I don't really ever use hair stuff that comes in my boxes and I always trade them.  These Davines items will be really good for trades because people love this brand.  I forgot how strong that Tommy Girl is.  Whew!  I put the tiniest drop on and I can smell it easily even though my nose is stuffed from my cold.  Good thing Dad isn't around :).
