Ipsy September 2014 Street Style Review

When my September 2014 Ipsy bag arrived, the thing I was the most excited to see was the actual bag it was all coming in.  Turns out it's better than I was imagining!  I like it a lot and it's a fairly large sized square, too. It fits even my long lip pencils so I'm going to start using this one instead of the clinique one I have now.

Ipsy is a great subscription if you're on a budget but you still want to get something fun in your mailbox.  It tends to have more makeup than skincare and if you're looking to find a great gift for a teen girl, this is where it's at.

The Cost: $10/month

What You Get: Each month, subscribers will receive a beautiful Glam Bag with deluxe samples and full-sized beauty products.

I accidentally ended up getting two Ipsy bags this month.  This is the first one that arrived.  Ooo!
That means I'll have two of these silver makeup bags!  I'm going to give one to a friend who will love the metal studs and the silver color.  I liked most of the spoiler products this month so I knew that whatever I got there would be items that I loved so I didn't  pay too much attention to my Glamroom.
Crown Infinity Shadow/Crease Duo Brush-This dual-ended brush offers the best of both worlds. The shadow brush is perfect for applying eye shadow or contouring the eye, while the crease brush is designed to be used dry for defining the eye, or wet for precision concealing.
I'm glad I got a brush.  These are handy for traveling.  The bristles are soft, too.
Value: $6.99

Cailyn Art Touch Tinted Lip Gloss in Basic Instinct- Delivers stunning color impact of a lip stain and high shine of a lip gloss. This silky smooth gloss glides on your lips like butter leaving you with a lacquer like finish.
This is interesting!  It is very thick and has great pigmentation.  It reminds me of the Loreal ColorRiche liquid lipstick.  The color I received is a nude (not orangey like it appears in this photo).
Value: $19
Briogeo Don't Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask-1oz-Fortified with ultra-hydrating avocado, sweet almond & argan oils, strengthening keratin protein, power-conditioning rosehip oil, soothing aloe, and super hair-essential vitamins B5, D, A, E and biotin.  This unique complex of targeted ingredients helps increase hair elasticity and moisture to prevent breakage, promotes healthy shine and luster, and replenishes strength.
Value: $5
Pacifica Natural Minerals Eye Liner Pencil in Fringe- Fringe means brown.  Made with jojoba oil, shea butter and vitamin E for a nourishing glide, these are waterproof and buttery smooth.
Brown is definitely a better color for me than black when it comes to eye liner.  I don't know why I prefer brown over black but I do. This is a nice matte color and I'll use it.
Value: $5

NYX Hot Singles Eyeshadow in Rehab-Powerfully loaded with pigments, this versatile formula lets you make a statement for any occasion. Whether your looks is edgy or natural, NYX’s unique formulation is easy to blend and build on.
Umm.. this is not my color.  It's a pukey greenish brownish.  I do like the container, though.
Value: $4.50

VERDICT: This Ipsy bag is worth $40! Wow!  It's nice to get a full size lip gloss (and I love lip gloss a lot) and I'm glad to have another eyeshadow brush for travelling.  I will use the Pacifica eye liner but I probably will be swapping the eyeshadow and the Briogeo.
This is a great bag with a great mix of products.  I love getting tools like brushes and I much prefer getting one full size eyeshadow over a plastic square with four tiny pots on it like last months Coastal Scents.
Plus, the glambag is cute this month, too.  So this Ipsy bag was definitely a win for me.

If you would like to sign up for Ipsy, you can do that right here.  You will likely be wait listed but you won't be charged until you're off.  I encourage you to sign up as soon as possible because the wait list can be long.

  1. Haha, we basically got the same bag except for the color of eyeshadow. And hey! I love your photos - they've become so amazing (so clear and so focused). :D

    1. It's a good bag! Although I'd rather have blue eyeshadow than poop green. Blech. And thank you :) It's still my camera phone, yay Samsung Galaxy s5!

  2. I still haven't gotten a tracking email so I'm guessing my bag is still in the warehouse? I refuse to check my glam room because I want to be surprised, but I really hope I get the brush! Of all the spoilers that's the only one that caught my eye. Not that I need anymore or anything, but I like brushes!

    1. You are good! I can never resist looking. I love getting brushes. I wish they'd put in tweezers or nail clippers... I'm always losing those and need more :D
