New Beauty Test Tube September 2014 Review

The New Beauty Test Tube for September 2014 is here!  Actually it came awhile ago and I've been lazy getting this post up.  This time it wasn't actually in a tube because of the products was so huge.  I thought it was a pretty fun mix.

The Cost: $39/bi-monthly plus shipping (Get your first Tube for $10 off with this link!)

What You Get: A carefully curated selection of beauty must haves six times a year.  You will receive a TestTube filled with 6 or more deluxe and full-size products from the hottest beauty brands. You will also receive a subscription to NewBeauty magazine, delivered quarterly.
So this time, instead of a tube, the small things came in a plastic zippered make up bag with the big box underneath.
Technically, this tube has six products in it with a sample of the Lumene BB serum but in actuality, there are 10 products with foils for the BB serum and one of the Equitance products.
Equitance Brightening Kit-  This is so fun!  I love seeing the full regimen.
Here is what it contains:
Brightening Foaming Cleanser -16g-Brightening Foaming Cleanser gently purifies by freeing skin of makeup and environmental residue without stripping away natural emollients and oils.
Brightening Toning Lotion -20ml-Brightening Toning Lotion clarifies and balances skin to maximize both the absorption of the moisturizer and the effectiveness of the brightening ingredients.
Brightening Serum and Spot Corrector -7g-Brightening Serum + Spot Corrector targets dark spots and discolorations to perfect the appearance of the complexion, vanquishing blotchiness and dryness alike. It is powered by a patented blend of brightening ingredients with sustained delivery system.
Hydrating Brightening Cream - 5g-Hydrating Brightening Cream locks in moisture and nourishment as it concentrates the power of the brightening ingredients. Made with a patented blend of the key brightening ingredient with sustained delivery system, the hydrating formula is precisely calibrated to help keep skin hydrated and protected against environmental stressors.
Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF36 - 0.6ml (foil packet)
Skin Radiance Dietary Supplement - 3 sachets of 6 tablets each- This vitamin for skin helps restore optimal vitality and performance, inspiring truly radiant beauty.

The website for Equitance is very forthcoming, with all ingredient lists posted and easily accessed.  It looks like they have a proprietary formula of herbs and extracts that they use in their products.  I was disappointed that niacinamide wasn't in the list for their Brightening Serum and Spot Corrector but I was happy to see that squalane is represented in most of their products.
The funniest thing is that the sunscreen packet is so tiny!  Sunscreen is ABSOLUTELY necessary for everyone, no matter how old (or young).  If you are not wearing sunscreen daily, please consider adding it into your skincare routine.  The amount of damage sun does to your skin is considerable, especially if you are out in it all the time.
Anyway, the sunscreen packet is so small, it's barely a one time use!  And if you're going to put anything on your face, sunscreen is probably the most important.  A good BB cream with sunscreen will save your skin, for sure.
Value: $37
Eau Thermale Avene Thermal Spring Water- A calming, hydrating mist for soothing and protecting skin. This is water.  In a spray can.  I actually like it but I don't use it for what they say it's for.  This might be the biggest (okay, not the biggest) gimmick ever.  You can put water from your tap on your face and you will get the same results this gives you.  Of course, if you have unpotable water then this could be a good thing for you.  I personally find that water on my face can be more drying than hydrating.
You probably are wondering what I use it for...  I use it on my feet when they get all puffy with heat and water retention.  TMI?
Value: $4

Molton Brown London Nourishing Body Lotion in Pink Pepperpod-100ml-A body lotion with anti-oxidant rich pink pepperpods, warm ginger aroma oils and our skin-pampering complex that instantly firms, comforts and hydrates. This is a nice sized bottle and smells spicy!  I like it although I don't use body lotion much.
Value: $14
Dr. Brandt Pore Effect-1oz-Dr. Brandt’s pore refining cream contains salicylic acid to stimulate cellular turnover and clean pores, while tea tree and rosemary penetrate pores to eliminate blockage. This pore decongestant can be used by people with all skin types, and is most effective on oily/combination skin tones.. Lavender extract and palma rosa calm irritated or sensitive skin with a clarifying action that is gentle yet effective.
This particular product was not listed in my information card.  This is a pretty big sample at 1oz and I don't think I've seen a sample this large for Dr. Brandt.
Value: $20

It's a 10 Miracle Leave-In Product-2oz- This is for dry damaged hair and will add shine, smooth and control your frizz while sealing your split ends and protecting your hair color.  It sounds like this thing can do it all!  It's got keratin, green tea and aloe in it.
Value: $9

Miracle 10 AHA Cream -10ml-Lactic acid and Vitamin E combine in a scientifically formulated rich emollient cream to effectively exfoliate dull skin. Rejuvenated skin will glow with renewed vitality and suppleness.
This might be my favorite thing in the box.  Well, after the Brightening Kit.  This is an AHA cream.  It uses lactic acid to exfoliate the very top layer of your skin.  You just rub it in like a moisturizer and you're done!
I currently use an AHA cream by Alpha Hydrox and I love it.  Having more of this is never a bad thing.  You will definitely notice a difference in your skin as you use this.
Value: $12

VERDICT:  It's weird because there is an entire kit of goodies and the AHA cream that I love but I still feel like this was kind of a boring tube.  Only it's not!  It is heavy on skincare which I don't mind in the slightest because I LOVE skincare.  It's got hair product, body lotion, and even a makeup cosmetic in the form of the Dr. Brandt Pore Effect.  So it has a little of everything and a lot of skincare.  It's a good tube!
I think I'm sad to see the demise of the To-Go bag, though.  I loved those little sample bags tossed in for fun.

Still, I'm excited to try my new stuff!  I probably won't use the It's a 10 Leave in hair product or the Molton Brown lotion but those will make excellent additions to gifts.

If you would like to sign up for your own New Beauty Test Tube, you can do that right here!  You can get $10 off your box that link!  This means your first box will be $29 instead of $39.  I'm all about saving money on boxes and I think this is a great way to get your own Tube and decide if you like it.
