The New French Box Subscription Box for September 2014 Arrived Today!

I've been really excited about the French Box September 2014 subscription!  This is it's first month and I am very happy that I was able to subscribe in time to receive it!  This is the design on the outside mailing box.  Inside was even cuter!
The packaging was so detailed and perfect.  Even the ribbon was printed with French Box!  All the attention they paid to the little things really stood out.
The Cost: $24/month.

What You Get:  Five products from France! Fashion, cosmetics, gourmet, goodies, etc.

There's a special currently running where you can get your first box for $14 and the subsequent months will be $24 so it's a great time to test French Box out!
The September 2014 theme is Grape Harvesting Time because this is the month grapes are harvested in France.  The info card included is on heavy, glossy cardstock.  Everything about this box just seems high quality and very well-thought out.
There was a very interesting array of items in here and I loved the fact that they included a recipe. There were six items included in this box plus a few extra bits like the recipe.
Here is the recipe, printed on heavy paper, for Red Wine-Poached Pears.  It's fitting for a Grape Harvesting box and I hope they always include a recipe.  I love to cook, the more recipes the better!

Also included is a large postcard commemorating the first French Box.  It's completely usable but I think I will save them because it looks like they will include one with every box and I like collections.  Depending on how they all are, I could frame them as well.  They're heavy duty!
Missiu Eiffel Tower Bracelet- Missiu embroidery bracelets are designed in France but made in Italy.
They come in various colors, mine is obviously blue.  Missiu makes "jewelry" lace.  This is very delicate and it's not really my style but I'm sure someone will enjoy it.
Value: $12
Sothys Paris Hydra-Glide Lipstick in Nacre Delicate- A long lasting formula that glides on to give comfortable hydration.  This long lasting lip color contains minerals, nutrients and vitamins which will leave your lips soft and moisturized while protecting them at the same time.
This is a GORGEOUS color!  I think there may be variations because I saw someone got a nail polish instead of a lipstick but *this* lipstick is going directly in my purse.  It has kind of a metallic sheen to it and it glides on sooo smoothly.  Love this!  The case is heavy and not plasticy.  It looks very luxe.
Value: $25

Caudalie Make Up Remover Cleansing Water-1oz- This uses micellar technology to remove makeup easily and gently, leaving your face and eyes thoroughly cleaned and prepped for the rest of your skincare.  I adore cleansing waters.  It's what I use to wash my face if I'm not in the shower.  I'm very happy to add Caudalie to my collection.
Value: $4
Sothy's Paris Care Lip Pencil in Brun Veloute (Limited Edition)-  I don't speak French but I'm guessing that means brown velvet.  This is a full size lip pencil with the crayon on one side and a brush on the other (I didn't realize until now that the brush part didn't make it into the photo).  I'm already wearing this.  It goes on beautifully and smoothing, no tugging at all like some hard pencils can.  It's a perfect color for my lips, just slightly darker than my natural color which is how I like my lip pencils. This also will go right in my handbag.
Value: $19
Buddy's Fruit Bites in Raspberry- I admit that seeing these sort of threw me off.  Everything else about the box has been "official" feeling and then there's fruit snacks tossed in.  It doesn't matter in the slightest and I did open these up (just now so I could tell you about them) to try them.
These are... interesting.  They're made in France and contain only fruit extracts, fruit pectin and some vegetable oil and carnuba wax.  I don't think I like the texture but the after taste is amazing.  Just like raspberry jam.  I just have to get over the initial mouth feel.
Value: $1.50

Whispering Angel Wine Bag- This canvas wine tote is made by Chateau d'Esclans.  Whispering Angel is the name of their Rose.  It's fairly thin and says "Yes Way, Rose" on both sides.  I don't know how to make letters with accents but you get the picture. :)  This is something I wouldn't use myself but I can definitely gift it.
Value: $15

VERDICT: Love it!  Two great pieces of makeup together worth more than twice the price of the box really makes me happy.  The fact that I love the colors of the lipstick and pencil make it even better.  I'm not sure about the Buddy's Fruit Bites but I do know that they want to include a food/snack item of French origin in their boxes so that's fine.  This isn't a typical makeup beauty box, it's a French box!  I hope they continue to include jewelry pieces although this particular bracelet is not my style.  I'm also very happy to see they have a collaboration with Caudalie because I'm excited to try more products from their line.
For a first box, they did an amazing job and the packaging is so perfect.  I can't wait to see what's in next months box!

  1. Can't wait for mine to come in the mail!

    1. I've seen some variations in the boxes, too! The color of the bracelet, some girls got nail polish instead of lipstick, some got different kinds of Caudelie (like sunscreen), some got eyeliner instead of the lip pencil, etc. I wonder what you will find in yours! I hope you love it as much as I love mine. :)
