Boxycharm October 2014 Review- Bewitched!

So the October 2014 Boxycharm has something I am SO EXCITED to try.  It was the first spoiler and I knew I was going to love this box no matter what.  Boxycharm has really stepped up since the days of it's beginnings.  It apparently used to contain mostly drugstore products but since I've subscribed in June, there have been fantastic brands like Tarte, Tarina Tarantino and Harvey Prince.

I've been so impressed with my boxes so far and this one really hit the spot for an October box.  It's not a Halloween theme, persay, but it feels like it and I love that.
The Cost:$21/month.

What You Get: Full size and luxury size beauty samples of the best beauty products from popular and chic brands. Anything from nail care and hair products to the top skin care and cosmetics.

Last month I know there were some issues with the products arriving broken or leaking. Or maybe that was the month before.  Mine arrived safe and sound so I can't quite remember.  This time everything was wrapped in bubble wrap in an attempt to alleviate the issues.  It doesn't make for great presentation but having the product arrive in perfect condition is worth it.
Coastal Scents Eclipse Concealer Palette- This is the full meal deal!  A full size palette all about concealers!  Fifteen shades of concealer perfect for any skintone!  Creamy colors for getting rid of undereye circles, redness and blemishes.  Everything I need to conceal and highlight my face!  Ahh!!  I can't wait to dig into this because I have never used the lavender and green colors to combat my uneven skintone!  I need an instruction book, I think.
Value: $21
Be a Bombshell Eyeshadow in All Nighter-  This is a black eyeshadow.  An intense black with a hint of shimmer, perfect for smoky eyes or eyeliner.  Okay, so. This is far darker than anything I've ever used as an eyeshadow.  Smokey eyes make me look like a raccoon (I just can't do it, no matter how many YouTube tutorials I watch) and while I can totally use this as an eyeliner, I have other ones that I'm used to and like.
However, I absolutely appreciate the inclusion of this shadow for a Halloween themed October box.  It's perfect and it's full size so while the color isn't for me, it's a pretty great thing to get in an October box.
Value: $14

Starlooks Ultra Gem Pencil in Ultra Green- Oh.my.  I think I'm in love.  I have always wanted a green liner and hoped to get one in a box.  This is a sparkly, perfect green.  It applies so smoothly and perfectly and looks GORGEOUS!  I love the sparkle, too.  My new favorite for sure!  I'm wearing it right now with my Harlequin Mica Beauty Eyeshadow!  My husband immediately noticed and said he loved it.  It's also full sized so I can use it almost forever.
Value:$14
Cult/Commerce X Boxycharm Shady Collection- These are two full size Cult/Commerce nail polishes made exclusively for Boxycharm!  Get your Halloween on with this glorious purple and deep black.  I love purple!  I don't really love black but I'm glad to have it because it will go with my Gothic Lolita Halloween outfit.
However!  These have the worst brushes known to man.  They are stiff and awful! Impossible to apply, so I'll have to think of something else.  Not worth $10.50 each because of that one thing.
Value: $21
Palmetto Derma Collagen Booster & Restoration Serum- Vitamin C in this super serum increases collagen growth, rapidly slowing down the aging process; filling fine lines and minimizing wrinkles & fighting to make sure they don't come back!
Well, I don't know if I believe all that but this does have hyaluronic acid which is a great moisturizer, vitamin C and E which both are both great antioxidants, and aloe which is an anti-inflammatory agent.  So it's a great product and I'm excited to use it.
Value: $48

VERDICT: Another great Boxycharm!  Skincare, makeup, and nail polish! And worth over $120!  A great deal and full of fun things I can't wait to use.  The only thing I probably won't end up using is the eye shadow.  And I seriously cannot wait to dig into the Eclipse palette and get to know everything.  This box continues to impress me. It's the same price as Glossybox and I would have to say that it's better because there are more full size products (and more makeup!) than Glossybox. Although Glossybox does get some pretty premium brands,  Boxycharm has really stepped up.

If you would like to sign up for Boxycharm, you can do that right here.  They may have a wait list but as far as I can tell, most everyone that got wait-listed got right off the next month and many still got that months box.

  1. I'm just about to put my review up too! :D

Just in case you didn't see this already- BoxyCharm CLAIMS that the manufacturer coated the brushes so that they wouldn't "fray in shipping" which is absurd, but whatevs. They say to soak the brushes in polish remover and it will loosen them up so they're working normally. I haven't tried doing that yet, but I think I might have to considering how perfect these shades are for the season!

    1. Well, that's interesting. I looked up Cult/Commerce and it appears to be one of those brands that get things for other companies. They don't make their own stuff in other words. I thought that they were Cult Cosmetics but nope. Different. I suppose I'll try the nail polish remover thing and hope it works. Otherwise, I'll have to use another polishes' brush. The colors are pretty perfect, though, soo....
