From the Lab November 2014 Review- Winter Essentials Collection

From the Lab is a unique subscription.  This review is for their November 2014 box Winter Essentials Collection which also came with a Black Friday coupon to use.  There are four winter perfect products in this box!

From the Lab has partnered with major cosmetic laboratories around the world and they secure some of the best, most innovative formulations for beauty products before they hit retail shelves.  Every product is cruelty free and is free from the major offending ingredients.
You are not a guinea pig.  These have all been tested and perfected.  The formulations will be purchased by cosmetic powerhouses and put on retail shelves for far more than you will pay for them here.  They also include clinical concentrations of the newest and more powerfully effective ingredients, as well.

Each box comes with a card explaining each product and what is new, interesting and different about it.

The Cost: $19.95/month plus shipping

What You Get: One to three full size luxury beauty products delivered to your door each month.  These products are estimated to be worth at least $100 on the retail market but you will get them before they are even available for purchase anywhere else.

Eye Cream No. 579- This eye cream is a luscious, moisturizing cream that cools and refreshes the delicate skin around your eyes, while its antioxidant-rich formula detoxifies your skin and delivers significant anti-aging benefits. Its unique, patented blend of ingredients protects your skin from environmental damage by binding heavy metals and minimizing the aging effects caused by free radicals and heavy metal stress.

I don't use a whole lot of eye creams.  I prefer to just use a regular facial moisturizer that is safe around your eyes.  But this one has some really great ingredients.  There's niacinamide for lightening dark circles, caffeine for reducing puffiness, shea butter for moisture, aloe for soothing plus vitamin B and a bunch of other plant extracts for their antioxidant benefits.
This has a really interesting texture.  It's kind of like jello?  It's jiggly.  I did notice (after I'd applied this) that there is ginseng in this which my skin really doesn't like.  We'll see how that goes.  So far so good!

Face Cream No. 590-This harnesses the unique healing powers of the Yarsagumba mushroom, along with its antioxidant benefits.  It will nourish, moisturize and keep the dry Winter weather from damaging your skin. It's a rich, creamy, ultra hydrating formula to soften and smooth your skin.

This has a faintly medicinal smell but it truly is rich.  It has squalane in it so it's going to be best as the last step in your skincare regimen.  It will provide a barrier for your skin against the wind as well. Winter skin needs a heavier moisturizer since it tends to dry out more quickly.
When I used this, at first I was thinking it felt a little greasy. After about a minute, though, I had to change my mind.  I did need to massage it in more than normal but it really does give your skin a soft smoothness.  I like it!
I didn't realize at first that this box was a Winter Essentials Collection and was wondering why I received two repeat items.  Since normally there aren't four items, I figured these were bonuses.  But no, they are actually part of the box and meant to be that way!  And I agree wholeheartedly with their inclusion in a Winter Essentials box!

From The Lab Lip Color Stick No.337-  This is a red, shimmery lip color.  These lip crayons are VERY highly pigmented and last for ages.  They are also very moisturizing and have a wet look finish.  I love mine.  I received three colors earlier in the year.  Here's a photo of them, No. 337 is the far right:
I personally love the fuschia, far left, the most but No. 337 is a glorious red.  Probably the first one I will wear happily because it has blue undertones not orange.  I hate it when a red goes orange.  If you want red lips, No. 337 will give them to you.

Hydrating Lip Primer No. 629-  This is an emollient rich formula with raspberry cultured stem cells to stimulate hyaluronic acid production, antioxidants and peptides to give you plump, moisturized, healthy lips.

This is one of my favorite primers because it doesn't change the color of your lips and because it's extremely smoothing and hydrating.  It prevents feathering, too, even for lip tints.  You can also just use it as a lip balm.  I really like it.

VERDICT: This was a great Winter Essentials collection!  With a face cream and eye cream to keep the weather from destroying your skin and a hot red lipstick and primer to help you get your face on for all those holiday parties, I loved the curation!  I do hope in the future there will be fewer repeated items, even though I *love* the lip primer and am not complaining about receiving a second one.
Plus, the usual box tends to have mostly two products, so the lipstick and the primer were a generous addition.  I've found some of my favorite things in From the Lab boxes.  I really like their Face Primer, too.

You can sign up to get your own box of luxury items from From the Lab right here.  The customer service is phenomenal and they also have a shop with discounted prices for members.
Non members can buy from the shop as well but won't receive the discount.  However, everyone can use the FESTIVE5 coupon to get $5 off in the shop where the prices are currently all at 50% off!! So now is your chance!

*affiliate links were used in this post.  I received this box at a subsidized cost for review purposes.  This does not affect my opinions, as you can see.
