Ipsy December 2014 Sneak Peek #1

 ipsy december 2014 sneak peek
This December, the first Ipsy sneak peek has got me really looking forward to my glambag!  This sneak peek shows TWO of the items you will receive in your bag if you are a subscriber!

The Cost: $10/month.

What You Get: Each month, subscribers will receive a beautiful Glam Bag with deluxe samples and full-sized beauty products.

Ipsy is a fun, affordable way to get a box of (random) beauty supplies delivered to your door. There's a pretty great range of cosmetics you'll get in the course of a subscription. I kind of can't believe all the stuff I've gotten.

Here is what we are all getting:

Every subscriber will receive a Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes 4 in 1 mascara and an NYX Butter Lip Balm.  Plus three more products, of course, and a glambag.

I actually really like the NYX butter lip gloss formula so I hope I like this too.  It looks like there are four colors to choose from.  I'm hoping for the pink or the rose.

Tarte Lights Camera Lashes-A lengthening, curling, volumizing, and conditioning mascara infused with olive esters to condition, treat, and protect lashes.

NYX Butter Lip Balm-Dip your lips in a sheer wash of color with our Butter Lip Balm. 8 decadent hues. One swipe leaves dry lips feeling supple and hydrated.

If you would like to sign up for Ipsy, you can do that right here!  They do have a waitlist so you may not end up getting this bag (or the next, sadly), so I recommend signing up even if you aren't sure and then when you get off the list, make your final decision.  You won't be charged until you're off the list so there's no monetary commitment up front.

  1. Try Ipsy! The wait list thing is stupid, and I enrolled, then was so infuriated with their bizarre lack of business acumen, I quit, and then I enrolled again, went thru the absurd trial by fire to actually receive a glam bag, and now I love these glam bags. Only have 2 so far, but the cute cosmetic case gives this "box" a unique charm.

Another peculiarity, they are extremely oriented to millennials. I have yet to see any photo in their demos or videos of a person over 25. Birchbox is much better (although still youth-dominated), with videos and tutorials that show real women. Ipsy stresses glamour in an almost narcissistic way. Birchbox is more upscale professional image. Each have 5 items for 10 bucks, and about 2 of the 5 items I like each time. Birchbox's point system is superior, but only if you want to use them as your primary supplier of cosmetics.

    1. Oh, yes, I hate the waitlist. I think Birchbox is on one now, too. But it's nothing like the wait for Ipsy.

I definitely agree that Ipsy is marketed toward the younger set. I do find that some of the make up items are not something I would use but it has actually be fun to step out of my comfort zone in some respects. I personally prefer skincare over makeup but I think Ipsy is fun for the $10 I spend on it.
Birchbox wins in my book because that points program is so excellent. I feel like they send more foil samples but they tend to make up for it other months. I like them both but for totally different reasons. And it probably does have to do with my age. Haha!
