Oh, and the outside, shipping package was different this month. It wasn't huge, shiny and pink. It was medium size and pink. I think I like that better. Everything was also sealed in their own little ziplock bags, too.
I was looking forward to this bag and had known what to expect because I accessed my Glamroom in order to ruin my surprise. I'm really good at ruining my surprises. :D
The Cost: $10/month.
What You Get: Each month, subscribers will receive a beautiful Glam Bag with deluxe samples and full-sized beauty products.
Ipsy is a fun, affordable way to get a box of (random) beauty supplies delivered to your door. There's a pretty great range of cosmetics you'll get in the course of a subscription. I kind of can't believe all the stuff I've gotten.
It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye- This is a waterproof concealer and I was really excited to try it until I noticed that the color was Neutral Medium. I'm so fair that this just isn't going to work as a concealer for me. Both Ipsy and Birchbox had tinted items that are too dark for me this month! Waaah!
J.Cat Wonder Lip Paint in Mad Splatter- This reminds me of the Obsessive Compulsive lip tar we got in the October Glossybox. Ooo! I *love* this color. This is fuschia as it was meant to be! And make sure you put it on exactly right because it doesn't want to come off. But, WOW, the pigmentation is amazing. And it's... well, it's shimmery but it seems like its shimmery with another color in it. Is that holographic? I don't know. Anyway, USE LIPLINER because it will bleed and you do need it to help you color within the lines. I recommend a lipbrush since it took major scrubbing and several handwashings to get off.
Marc Anthony Oil of Morocco Argan Oil Hairspray- For volume and shine. I need travel size hair sprays so I'm glad I got this. I don't know about the wonders of argan oil but as long as it sticks my hair in place, I'm good.
SeaRx Birchsap Moisturizing Lotion- This smells wonderful. The tube is not very informative. Unless you count how it tells you not to use this if you are under 18, don't get it in your eyes and don't use it if you're pregnant or nursing. Wait. What?! What kind of warning is that?! What is in this stuff that it needs warnings like be over 18 and don't use if you are preggers?! I can't find an ingredient list anywhere. Maybe it has estrogen or something in it? Some kind of plant thats poisonous? I don't get it.
It's more like a serum than a lotion. With warnings like the above, I don't really want to put it on my face but my hands need anti-aging, too, so I'll use it on them. Those warnings are weird, though.
Starlooks Ultra Olive Eyeliner- Yuck. Olive. I actually don't mind getting eyeliners as long as they aren't black. Or apparently Olive. I'm just grumpy because I really wanted the Orchid color!
But the bag is still cute!
VERDICT: A big fat meh. Actually I shouldn't say that. Objectively, it actually is a good bag with good variety. It's just that I cant use the best thing in it because its not my color. I do really like the J.Cat Wonder Paint and the hairspray. I'll use both of those. And I'll probably use the SeaRx even though the warnings really weird me out. The eyeliner will be swapped (if someone even wants that color. Ew.).
If you want to sign up for Ipsy and test your own luck, you can sign up here! They do tend to have a wait list so its better to get your name on the list sooner rather than later. You won't be charged until you get off the list, so you can make your final decision at that point.

We got the exact same bag! I didn't like the color of the lip paint because it is so bright and that's just not my thing. Plus I got the eyeliner in my boxycharm last month. They'll make great gifts though!
ReplyDeleteYay! Bag Twins! It is bright, I admit but I can't help loving it. I think I'm glad I got this one and not Red Potion. I would be less likely to wear red. I got a Starlooks liner in my Boxycharm, too, but it was Hunter green and waaaay prettier than this one. And now that you mention it, I *do* have a friend who would probably love this one! I'm glad you mentioned that because I was too busy hating the color to think of anything else. Hah!
DeleteThe lip paint color is gorgeous (darker red), but when they say "stain" I didn't think they meant I'd be wearing the rest of my life. It is messy to apply and I had it all over my fingers, and they were stained red for hours. Could not wash it off with soap.
DeleteAlso got the eye concealer. At least give it a try regardless of the "medium" color. It dabs on lighter that it looks and it very effective.
I know, right!? It's next to impossible to get off! I had rubbed it on the back of my hand to test the color and consistency on a surface larger than my lips and I could.not.get.it.off!! And my hand sparkled even after the color went away. HA!
DeleteOkay, I'm going to try the concealer based on your recommendation. I'm pretty fair so if anything says medium, I get nervous.
Um, I'm a little scared by all the warnings on that serum... WTF?! I would probably just chuck it in the trash.
ReplyDeleteI know!! What on earth could it possibly be?!
DeleteI got the Red Potion lip paint, but it's a beautiful dark pink fuschia on me! Love it almost as much as I love Lip Tars! I never thought I'd say I like a J. Cat product. Who can forget the god awful glitter eye shadow from them in ipsy last year?
