New Beauty Test Tube November 2014 Review

New Beauty Test Tube is a bi-monthly box of various beauty products and essentials.  This November 2014 box has eight items in it, both full and luxury size goodies.  I will say that this box does have a really great variety so there's sure to be something you can use.
It arrives in a hot pink box and this month, one of the items didn't fit into the tube!  New Beauty Test Tube really does come in a tube!  The first time I got it I was surprised because I was not expecting it. And it's a really sturdy tube, too, perfect for storing something but not really stackable.  I was happy to see that we got a candle this month, too! Yay, candles!
Each tube also comes with a glossy booklet explaining each item in the tube.  It's pretty handy and gives a lot of tips on how to use the products included.

The Cost: $29.95/bimonthly plus shipping.

What You Get: You will receive a TestTube filled with deluxe and full-size products from the hottest beauty brands. Members will also receive a subscription to NewBeauty magazine, delivered quarterly.
This is my fourth Test Tube that I've received so I was a little surprised to see a repeat item in this box.  Everything else is new to me and three are brands I'm excited to see!  New Beauty definitely gives me items I don't find in any other subscription box I receive.
Votivo Candle Tin in Icy Blue Pine-  I love candles and I've had good experiences with Votivo so I really was happy to see this!  This is a perfect Christmassy Winter scent.  Just opening it released the scents of pine and cedar.  It made me wish I had a real Christmas tree to put up!  As it is, I use a fake one because it's just easier, I don't have to remember to water it and I don't have to clean up the needles. While I really want to burn this now because it smells so good, I think I'm going to wait til I get the tree up and try to fake people out, thinking what they smell is my tree.  Oh, you don't think that will work?  You're probably right but at least I'll be happy. :D
Value: $15

Donell Lip Saver- A professional strength lip balm that conditions, soothes and maintains healthy lips.  Contains MCC Complex which accelerates wound healing and reduces inflammation.
Well.  Im just going to lay it out there: Boring.
Or boring until I looked up this MCC Complex.  Apparently it actually is ridiculously good if you have super chapped lips and it was made for users of Accutane.  If you have lips that crack and bleed in the winter,  you might want to try this.  It's only $7!  I just had to open it and try it after reading about it.  It's super soft and slick and, while I thought it would be tasteless, it has a faint lemony scent.
Well, I mean it *is* tasteless but it smells good.
Value: $7
CHI Silk Infusion- This is made by the same company that makes Biosilk which I love!  I first encountered this brand in my September FabFitFun box and I'm actually happy to add this to my collection.  This is a leave in product that works on both wet and dry hair to provide manageability and less frizz!  It uses silk, wheat and soy proteins to provide strength and shine to your hair.
Now normally I hate getting hair products but I like this brand and I'm more partial to leave in treatments than anything else.  So I'll try this and see how it goes.
As a side note, it says that if you add a drop too your hand cream, your hands will be silky smooth and stay moisturized longer.
Value: $10

John Frieda Frizz-Ease Straight Fixation Smoothing Creme- Ooo!  Finally something for straight hair!  I have straight hair and apparently this stuff will make it straighter with fewer flyaways.  It also protects against heat styling.  It also smells really good!  I just used it and my hair looks pretty good right now.  We will see how it does in the next few hours.
Value: $2
Dermalogica Precleanse-  This is a deep cleansing oil that removes dirt, makeup and impurities from your skin.  I've been iffy on oil cleansers just because I have combination skin and I really don't need to oil up my T-Zone but time and again I've been told that's not how it works.  I can use this to find out if an oil cleanser is worth it to me.
This melts away layers of excess oil (ooh, I need that!), sunscreens, waterproof makeup and residual product build up with skin fortifying olive, kukui and apricot oils.  This particular formula is first rubbed on dry skin with dry hands and massaged.  Then add a little water and continue massaging and it will form a milky emulsion.  Then rinse with lukewarm water.
Sounds like a whole lot of work but I'll try it.
Value: $6

Klorane Makeup Remover Bio-degradable Wipes with Soothing Cornflower-Remove your makeup with these gentle wipes.  Ideal for sensitive eyes because it's alcohol, fragrance and paraben free.  I love wipes so these will go into use.
Value; $12
Mally Evercolor Starlight Waterproof Eyeliner- I received this in Icy Blue.  I'm not sure what I think about that color for eyeliner.  Maybe if I was blonde I'd like it more?  At first I thought this was a repeat but I've never received a Mally Eyeliner before.  Previously I got an eyeshadow stick by this brand.  The color is so pretty but... eyeliner? I'm not sure about that.
Value: $15

Revision Skincare Intellishade Broad Spectrum SPF 45-  This is a three-in-one anti-aging tinted moisturizer with sunscreen that conceals, corrects and protects.  This is the repeat product for me.
And honestly? Of all the repeats I could have gotten, I'm actually really happy to have more of this!
It's basically a BB cream but it's absolute perfection for me.  The tubes are tiny.  One is matte and one is "dewy".  I've used the matte one the most often and really like it.  It's ridiculously expensive.
Value: samples, regular price is $52 for 1.7oz

VERDICT: I actually like the contents of this tube!  While I probably won't use the Mally eyeliner, everything else is very useful to me!  The retail value of this tube is over $60.  While I don't know that I'd want to continue paying full price for this tube, it would be worth it to be at the $10 off price.
Although, I guess the candle is $15 which is half the purchase price of the box and is something I would likely have purchased anyway, so this is a good deal for me.

  1. You could try the Mally eyeliner UNDER your eye for a pop of color - or at least that's what I'd do with it. Or regift, maybe. :P

    1. I feel like it might make me look like a clown! Maybe I'm not adventurous enough and I should try it. I thought I was going all out when I started using silver on my lower lashline :D
