Boxycharm December 2014 Jingle Belles Review

My December 2014 Boxycharm arrived the day after Christmas.  It was like an extension of gifting!
I can't lie, I've been anxious to get this box because of the Coastal Scents Revealed palette that was one of the spoilers.  I actually have very little makeup mostly due to a massive purge I just did.  I got rid of my anciently old stuff, stuff I don't use, stuff that looked dirty, etc.  I made a lot of space for NEW stuff!  Boxycharm is here to fill my makeup void!  I think that Boxycharm is my most makeup heavy subscription and I like that.
This Jingle Belles box is a lot of fun!  There's a pretty great variety this month.  I didn't know what all the products were going to be but I'm happy with what was included.

The Cost: $21/month

What You Get: Full size and luxury size beauty samples of the best beauty products from popular and chic brands. Anything from nail care and hair products to the top skin care and cosmetics.

Coastal Scents Revealed Palette
Coastal Scents Revealed Palette-  This is the full size, real deal! Twenty different shadows in mattes, shimmers and glittery neutrals!  Now I know that Coastal Scents is not the fanciest, most luxurious brand but this is a super fun addition to the box and it expands my collection admirably in one compact swoop.  Love this and I've already started experimenting.
Value: $39.95 (on sale for $11.97 if you want it!)
Lina Lashes in Diva
Lina Lashes Luxury Mink Lashes- These are some pretty glamorous false lashes.  I think I will have to cut them but these are very thick and extremely long.  Now that I don't wear glasses any more I've been getting eyelash extensions.  They're more expensive than false lashes but they last longer and are fuss free.  I love them.  But again, they're pretty expensive so I've been telling myself I need to learn to use strip lashes like these.  I'm just SO bad at getting them on and making them look normal. Maybe the problem is that they *aren't* supposed to look normal?
Value: $30
Mistura Retractable Powder Brush
Mistura Retractable Powder Brush- I've never heard of this brand but I don't have a retractable brush and I've been wanting one.  So much easier to toss in my bag.  The ultra-soft synthetic-hair bristles pop out from the handle! Fan it out fully to sweep powder over your face or retract your brush upwards for more concentrated pigmentation around the eyes, cheekbones.
This isn't as high quality as my It Cosmetics brushes which I'm in love with but it's still handy and gets the job done.  Perfect for the plane.
Value: $20
Eva Nyc Shampoo and Be a Bombshell One Stick
Eva-nyc Clean It Up Shampoo-  This shampoo is designed to cleanse, restore and nourish your hair. It actually says it will "feed" your hair but since hair is dead and doesn't eat I'm calling shenanigans. I'm not sure this is for me.  My hair is more oily to begin with (actually, my scalp is) so I don't know if pouring more oils over it is going to be super helpful.  My MIL has very dry hair, she might prefer to have this. It's a nice size bottle, too, at over 3oz.  Thats a lot of uses.
Value: $2

Be a Bombshell The One Stick in Flustered-  This is meant to be used on your eyelids, cheeks, lips or anywhere.  Personally, I can't see anyone wanting to put this color on their eyes.  Lips and cheeks, okay.  Maybe.  But as an eyeshadow? Naaah!  I know some people hate this brand but I've only ever received maybe three items from them (thanks to Ipsy) and the products seemed fine.  Except for that mascara in the Ipsy bag that reeked to high heaven.  But other than that, I haven't used it often enough to say it's good or it's bad.
Value: $16 (Ack! That's outrageous!)

VERDICT:  Of course I loved it!  The palette makes the box!  I appreciate the sizes on the shampoo and BaB One Stick and I really like the inclusion of a beauty tool.  The lashes are very Oohlala but they didn't come with lash glue which is disappointing.  Especially with a $30 price point.  Can't win 'em all, I suppose.
Either way, this box was a total win for me and I'm so glad I stayed subscribed to receive it!

If you would like to sign up for Boxycharm, you can do that right here.  Currently, it looks like you will still be able to receive the December Jingle Belles box but it does says spots are limited.  They've been running a wait list the last few months but it doesn't seem to take long to get off of it.  Most seem to get the next box after sign up.

What did you think of this box?

  1. I almost bought this box just for the Revealed palette, but I thought it was Revealed 2 not the first one. I have the UD Naked palette already so I didn't need more shades similar to that, but either way that was a great item and overall a really good box!
