Ipsy December 2014 Review ~ Brave Soul

Ipsy December 2014 initial spoilers were very good so I wasn't surprised that I ended up liking my bag so much when my Glam Room opened up.  The bag is also super cute.  A shiny black with a pink zipper and heart shaped tag.  I always prefer the bags that have a formed bottom and will actually sit up like this one does.
If you've been looking for a fun, cheap way to get a little makeup and maybe a little skincare sent to you each month, Ipsy is a great way to get it.  You're not going to get luxury materials but you will get fun, usable make up to try every month along with a cute makeup bag.
Ipsy is a fun, affordable way to get a box of (random) beauty supplies delivered to your door. There's a pretty great range of cosmetics you'll get in the course of a subscription. I kind of can't believe all the stuff I've gotten.

The Cost: $10/month.

What You Get: Each month, subscribers will receive a beautiful Glam Bag with deluxe samples and full-sized beauty products.

NYX Butter Lip Balm in Marshmallow- These lip balms are sheer and hydrating.  The color I got is basically a nude.  Pretty colorless on my lips but I like the formula.  And I never say no to a lip balm!  Ever. :D
Value: $4

Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara-A lengthening, curling, volumizing, and conditioning mascara infused with olive esters to condition, treat, and protect lashes.  I like Tarte and I like nice dark, thick lashes.  This one has to go in rotation because I have other ones I need to use first but I'm happy to try this!
Value: $8
Cailyn Just Mineral Eye Polish in Orchid-  This is a nice neutral shimmery shadow.  I used it after tapping off what I thought was most of the excess and swiped it on my eyelid. It's very pretty, I like it!  I also managed to get it all over my face so maybe using the applicator isn't such a good idea. Or maybe instead of tapping it, I should scrape it against the side of the opening.  All I know is there was way more on the little foam sponge than I needed. :D
Value: $15
BWC (Beauty Without Cruelty) Facial Cleanser-  Have you every noticed how many natural/organicy type brands love to use lower case letters?  I'm not sure why that is but it's strange and I refuse to cooperate when I write!  Anyway, this is a fun cleanser.  It has a 3% AHA complex consisting of glycolic acid, citric acid and malic acid.  They're at the bottom of the ingredient list.  It also has a whole bunch of oils and a lot of lavender.  I'm actually really bummed about the lavender because I wanted to try this!  Instead, someone else will get that chance. Probably my mom.
Value: $2

Sexy Hair 450 Blow Out-This product provides superior conditioning and weightless shine without an oily, greasy feel. Helps to detangle and strengthen hair while decreasing blow dry time.  I'll use this because I do blow dry my hair.  I'll find out if it does what it says.
Value: $5

VERDICT:  This Ipsy bag turned out really great for me! Even though I can't use the facial cleanser, everything else something I can use! Yay!  That doesn't always happen. Plus I always like seeing Tarte and I have a thing for hair spray type items.  While I hate hair stuff in general, I actually do like spray on hair goodies.  I don't know why I'm so weird.  :D

If you'd like to sign up for Ipsy, I will always suggest signing up as soon as you can.  They have a ridiculous wait list (that I think is weighted so even if you're 50, say you're 18 or 25) that can leave you twiddling your thumbs for months unless you share posts on Facebook.  Which, if you get the opportunity to do, DO it!  Then just delete the posts from your page.  That's what I did.

Once you are off the wait list, you'll get an email telling you that the magic finally happened and you'll have the opportunity to cancel if you've decided that you don't actually want to subscribe.

So, sign up now and hopefully your own Ipsy Glambag will arrive at your door soon!

  1. This bag was just ok for me. I got the exact same contents. I hate the color of the lip butter but am excited for the mascara!

    1. Yeah, I was pretty bummed about the nude color but I just layered something else on top. It's turned out that I don't really like the Cailyn much but I'm always willing to try to find a mascara as good as my favorite Hope Girl. So far no luck but I haven't tried this Tarte yet.
