I got my first Nerd Block not too long ago. It was the Arcade Block and you can see that review here. I loved it so when I saw on Black Friday that they were having a Grab Block sale, I jumped at the chance.
Since I’ve only ever received one of these and it was the Arcade Block, not the regular Nerd Block, I didn’t really have any idea what to expect. Let’s just say that the Arcade Block subscription is by far my favorite.
The Cost: $15.99/ea plus shipping for a total of $25.59
What You Get: A box of random Nerd Block items.
I’m not sure if these were older boxes or if they were just random items collected in each box. Here is what I got in mine!
Pokemon Pocket Monster Containment Capsure T-Shirt– I know nothing about Pokemon but my husband saw this and did. Since he promised he would wear it, he gets to keep it and it won’t go in a stocking.
Value: $14.99
Giant Crab Louse– Is this from something that I am unaware of? Because all I can think of is my 8th grade Health class… And that’s as far as I’ll go with describing what this is.
Minikins Minifigures– I didn’t open this one because I’m putting it in a stocking but it appears to be reminiscent of Garbage Pail Kids crossed with Cabbage Patch Kids. Do you remember those Garbage Pail Kid stickers? I collected those. Do kids even collect stickers anymore? That was a big thing when I was a midget. Ooo!! I just looked these up ( I love Google) and they *are* Garbage Pail Kids! Now I kinda do want to open them but no. Stockings. I have too much crap. 😀
$5
Funko Pop! Vinyl Figurine– It’s Star-Lord from Guardians of the Galaxy! I loved that movie so much. I mean, I love that kind of thing to begin with, but I loved it so much I made my husband go see it with me. And we have never had a dinner and movie date night with just ourselves. This is going in my husband’s stocking. Now we will have Groot and Star-Lord. I might have to pick up some more just because. After we get a display shelf, though.
Value: $9.99
Desk Thing Pin Toy– Yeah, I don’t know what these are called. This one is plastic. I think I have one somewhere made of metal. These are kind of hard not to play with, really. I mean, it’s one of those things where if it’s on your desk, they will play with it. That type of thing. At least, I always do!
Value: $4.99
Nerd Block 1st Anniversary Brain Thing– Wow, I’m really official with my naming conventions! It’s because there was no card in the box, so I have no idea what these things are!
VERDICT: Okay, so for $25 I’m gonna say not worth it. For $15? Yeah. But that Nerd Block shipping fee of $9.50 really ruins it. Sure, it’s coming from Canada but I just don’t know if I want to fork out that much for shipping. Unless I know what I’m getting. Still, I do like the Funko figure and the T shirt will get used but I don’t think I would subscribe to the regular Nerd Block. I much preferred the Arcade Block. Although, even then, I admit that the price is sort of a downer. Especially considering Loot Crate is $10 cheaper and has basically the same kind of thing. Except not a T shirt every month. Hm.
If you want to check out Nerd Block and all the boxes they have to offer, you can do that right here. They’ve also got a Horror Block and Blocks for kids.
What do you think? Between Loot Crate and Nerd Block which would you choose?
