New England Sack December 2014 Review and Coupon Code!

The New England Sack December 2014 arrived today and I had to get into it immediately.  This is a new subscription box and this is the first month I've subscribed so I was really excited to see what kinds of things would be sent for the holiday month.
There is a special place in my heart of boxes of handmade, regional items.  I absolutely love the unique variety of items that you won't find anywhere else.  It makes for a truly special surprise each month.  New England Sack comes in a box but actually does have a sack of goodies inside!

The Cost: $35/month

What You Get: Five to six thoughtfully curated, handmade and artisan items from the New England area.  Expect anything from food products to home goods.

When I first opened the box, there was a wax sealed letter which turned out to be the information card and a small gift of an acorn ornament.  It had taken some time to get my Sack so I think that may have been why it was added.  I also received an email apologizing for the delay which was unexpected and totally sweet.
I really appreciated the information page!  I hated to break that red wax seal just because I loved how it looked but I wanted info!  Each item is listed along with a short bio on the artisan behind the product and a little about why it was chosen.  Several New England states were included this month, included Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Maine.
MandaleighHome Balsam Fir Sachets-  There are three sachets wrapped in ribbon and I absolutely love these!  I can't really decide what I should do with them because the holidays are mostly over but I just love that needle scent so much I might have to leave them out for a bit before packing them away til next year.
These are are made by Amanda using needles from Maine balsam fir trees and are sold in her Etsy shop along with many other adorable items.  All made in Maine.
Value: $9
Wildtree Peppermint Hot Chocolate-3.3oz- This is an organic classic hot chocolate mix with a minty kick. Ingredients: Organic Powdered Sugar (organic evaporated cane juice, organic tapioca starch), Organic Cocoa Powder, Organic Tapioca Starch, Organic Peppermint Flavor, Organic Mint Flavor.  Made in Rhode Island.
I can't wait to try this!  I *love* hot chocolate and it's been pretty cold around here so I need some!
Value: $7
Bittersweet Herb Farm Zesty Garlic Seasoning-.75oz- One sniff of this and I'm hunting down recipes to use it with.  Mouthwatering!  I love cooking and I love spice mixes so this fits me very well.  There are three recipes on the back of the packet for garlic dip, garlic spread and a spiced baked potato but there are so many things that can be done with this.  It's got parsley, garlic, chives, onion, lemon peel, paprika and herbs and spices (must be the secret ingredients).  So delicous!  Made in Massachusetts.
Value: $4
Goatboy Soaps Goat's Milk and Shea Butter Soap Bar in Pineberry- A big 5oz chunk of green and brown swirled soap.  It's kind of hard not to laugh at a name like Goatboy but this soap is going in my stash for use asap.  Not only does this have goat's milk and shea butter but it also has honey from local bees and coconut oil!  It smells invigorating and fresh.  Mmm!
Value: $5
Sweet Lydia's Handcrafted Marshmallows in Vanilla- This is a huge portion of marshmallows. Eight fluffy puffs of pure delight.  I love these!  I'm happy to see a sweet in this box, too.  Handmade marshmallows are where it's at!  They are the perfect size for making smores!!  And they're square. Sooo good...  I have to share these because I can't keep all this delicious to myself.
Value: $6.25

VERDICT: I love this New England Sack!  It's got a great variety and I always love when home items are included.  The fact that it has some sweet and some savory items also makes this a winner. It did take quite awhile to get to me but was absolutely worth it!  I really do like getting interesting items from other places.  I would never know or experience these things without someone curating them for me.  The value of this box is $31.25 which comes realllly close to the box cost of $35.  With these unique boxes and handcrafted items, I find that the value tends to be really close or at cost.  It's more than getting a good deal, it's the experience and I always feel good knowing I'm supporting small businesses that are here in the US.  I have a special place in my heart for women owned and operated businesses, as well, so I am always happy to show my support.

If you would like to sign up for New England Sack, you can head to their website and get in on the January Celebration box!  So far no hints about what's inside but if it's anything like this one, I'm in!
