The 3b Box December 2014 Review- A New Asian Beauty Subscription!

My 3b Box arrived today!  It did come in a box but inside was a gauze bag with my products in it.  It also came with a handwritten note, addressed to me!  That's a nice touch and is probably because I'm one of the first subscribers.
This is the 3b Box' first month ever and I subscribed to give you an idea of what to expect if you should choose to sign up as well.  Currently they are shipping only to the US but hope to expand.
The reason they are called 3b is because their mission is to bring Beauty Beyond Borders. Basically, bringing  Asian beauty where it's difficult to get it.  Then once they get us hooked on great products in sample sizes, they'll have the full sizes available in their shop (when it opens).

The Cost: $12/month.

What You Get: A pouch containing four to five deluxe Asian beauty samples and tips on how to use products.
The 3b Box is basically a Birchbox of Kbeauty items.  You will receive four to five deluxe samples sourced from Korea, Japan and Taiwan.  Brands you can expect are Etude House, Skinfood, Lioele with a little SK-II and Sulwhasoo thrown in from time to time.
One of my main issues with kbeauty is the lack of English ingredient labels, but 3b says they've got that covered and will include English ingredient lists as often as possible.  There were no ingredient lists in this particular box but they weren't really necessary.
This box had five samples and included three full size items!  It also has a great array of products.
Etude House Collagen Moistfull Emulsion and Facial Freshener Kit-  Both of these are 15ml and are definitely worth several uses.  Use the Freshener as a toner after cleansing and apply with a cotton pad.  Then pat on the emulsion. Pat.  I've got to start doing some patting, I guess.  Follow with your favorite serum.  I've had this same sample pack sitting in my cart at TesterKorea for awhile so I'm actually really happy to see it.  And these smell divine.
Value; $4?
K-Palette 1 Day Magic Liquid Eyeliner-  This is a full size liquid eyeliner!  K-Palette is a Japanese brand and I've got to admit that after all my Kbeauty, it's nice to see a Japanese product.  Create the perfect cat eye with an easy to use brush.  I felt that this didn't apply evenly (needed more than one coat) but I'm glad to see it in a bag.
Value: $15

Nature Republic Nail Polish- Red nail polish, of course.  Great for the holidays.  Although I'll be the first to admit that nail polish is not something I would ever look for in a bag of Asian beauty products.  Give me skin care all the way.  Okay and maybe a makeup product or two.  But nail polish? Meh.
Value: $3.99
TheFaceShop Herb Day Cleansing Tissue-20 sheets- A soft cleansing tissue that contains rosemary extracts along with sage and soapwort.  Easily removes make up and daily grime. I think these have a very strong smell.  They definitely work, of course, but wheew!  Not loving the scent.
Value: $2

VERDICT:  I admit I wasn't expecting much but I'm suitably impressed with the first month of The 3b Box.  I don't know if everyone receives the same thing.  I contacted 3b to ask several questions and while they got back to me, they didn't address the questions I had. So far, it doesn't look like they ship out on a certain date.  If you sign up now, you'll get your box in a couple days.  I'm guessing that will change as they have more subscribers. Hopefully they'll add a FAQ with the usual questions answered.
I like the fact that they had recognizable brands and popular products in this box.  I'm hoping we see some more unusual and hard-to-get brands in these boxes, though.  I'd love to see products from Mizon, Migabee, Elizavecca, ProYou, Dollywinks and ones I don't know about from Japan.  Most of my kbeauty knowledge is just that- Korean. I sort of lump all Asian skincare into that one term since it's what I'm used to but now I'll have to branch out if we get some great Japanese brands.

For $12, this was absolutely worth it and I will stay subscribed.  I'm interested to see where this goes.
They've got fun brands right now and the curation is good.  This is a nice mix of products, even if I'd rather have more skincare and less nail polish.  This seems to be an affordable, reliable way to get some Asian goodies every month.

If you would like to sign up for The 3b Box, you can head to their website here.  Navigation is easy because the site is pretty spare at the moment but that makes signing up even quicker.

What do you think?  Did you subscribe and receive something different than I did?

    1. No, so far only US. I'm guessing they have some kinks to work out before they go global. It'd be awesome if it didn't take long :D
