Beauteque Head to Toe PINK February 2015 Bag

The Beauteque Head to Toe bags are one time purchases, not a subscription.  This is the February 2015 review for the Pink themed bag.  I'm very impressed! It's a nice combination of skincare and makeup plus you know I love the focus on Asian beauty.  Not to mention the cute factor.

The other great thing about these Head to Toe bags is that they are partially customizable. There is usually an option or two that allow you a choice though the rest of the bag is a mystery. The ability to customize even a part of a mystery bag is valuable to me.  It means that no matter what, I know I will receive something I prefer.  This particular bag offers only the choice of color for one product but previous bags have allowed for more.  I hope as Beauteque grows, they'll continue this program.
This Head to Toe bag is $26 plus shipping.  Since Beauteque ships internationally, shipping varies from around $5 to around $9.  The bag is a bright fuschia and I love it!  Everything arrived packed inside this felted, cut-out bag.  It's made out of very thick felt and I think might be my favorite bag so far.

Femme Couture Get Luminous Highlighting Luminizer in Pink Sparkle-  Ah, the infamous "dewy" glow that so many love.  This can be used alone or mixed with your foundation and will help create a shimmering glow.  I'm not a fan of the dewy look.  I prefer my face to be matte.  I also feel like at my age and wrinkle level that luminizers tend to exacerbate those fine lines and wrinkles and make them appear more pronounced than they really are.  I've also noticed that luminizers can give a sort of "plastic surgery" look on older women and I do not want that ever.
However, young skin rejoice in your dewy looks and use all the luminizer you want!
This luminizer however, has some issues.  It's completely separated in the bottle.  It's a crazy bright super glittery pink out of the bottle and definitely goes on shimmertasticly.  It found all my lines and showed them off.  I immediately scrubbed it off.  I wonder if I should contact them about the separation issue.
Value: $8.99

Tony Moly Delight Circle Lens Mascara in 01 Volumizing- This is a volumizing mascara by Tony Moly.  It uses a gentle formula with argan oil and black rice extracts to make it perfect for contact lens users.
Value: $5
Shiseido Hada Senka Toner- I love seeing Shiseido! This is a very thick, moisturizing toner.  It contains royal jelly and hyaluronic acid.  Sadly, it also contains alcohol so those with dry skin may want to avoid it.  I'm surprised by that inclusion since Shiseido is such a respected brand.  It may be that the other ingredients will be able to combat that alcohol and still provide the moisturization my skin needs.  You will either receive this toner or the lotion.
Value: $16

Lameila Compact Puff- This is an imitation beauty blender.  Since I've never used one, I'm happy to try this.  Lameila is a Chinese brand so this was made in China.  I can't find any reviews for it so until I get a real Beauty Blender, I wouldn't be able to compare them. Although I did hear that Real Techniques has a creditable dupe.  Beauteque has this valued at $16 but the only prices I find for it are under $3.  I'm giving it a $5 value to account for shipping but really it's probably more like $2 or 3.  I'm not really thrilled to see something from China in the bag.
Value: $5
Etude House Moonlight in Spoon Blending Sleeping Cream in Rosehip-  This is a one time use sleeping pack.  Break off the handle, peel off the cover over the spoon part, use the handle to stir the cream then apply it to your face before bed.  Personally, I think sleeping with a thick layer of cream on your face gets the pillow all gross but you can use a disposable sheet mask over it or just wear it on your day off/time off/a few hours/half an hour....  You get the idea.  You don't actually have to wear it at night.
Value: $3

Tony Moly Easy Touch Auto Lip Liner in 02 Rose Pink- This is actually a perfect color for me.  Exactly perfect.  It doesn't glide on, it's more pencily that way.  Aaand I just discovered the other end is a lip brush. Haha!  It's a twist up so there's no sharpener.  I'll use this for sure since it's such a great color.
Value: $6
It's Skin Todak Todak Capsule Wash Off Mask in Pomegranate-  This is a gel mask. It's made with shea butter and pomegranate extract.  Apply and leave on for 15-30 minutes then wash off.  It's got some great antioxidants and moisturizing properties and I have the full size tube already.
Value: $5 ($2.50ea)

VERDICT:  Everything in the Beauteque Head to Toe bag fit the theme of PINK for sure. With a half and half split between skincare and makeup there's going to be something for everyone.  I think my favorite is the Shiseido toner, then the lipliner.  Least favorite thing would have to be the luminizer but that's my personal leanings because I wouldn't wear it and because I don't know if I was supposed to shake it first or what.  And I don't like that it's not an Asian beauty product. I still think it's a good addition to the bag but I always will prefer to have only Korean, Japanese and Taiwanese products.
The bag also has a good value having almost $50 worth of product for only $26 plus shipping.  While I find the retail values included on the information card to be inflated, but the products are still valued at more than the purchase price.  In a beauty bag, getting that value is essential in my eyes and this hits the spot for me.

And I love the bag itself!  Normally the bags are just kind of an afterthought for me but in this case, I can't wait to put it to use because it's so cute.  The one thing I would change would probably be the choice to include two wash off masks.  But the Etude House Spoon is so cute and I actually like the It's Skin Todak pack so I'm not complaining.  Just objectively there could have been a better choice.

If you would like to get this bag for yourself, it is for sale til the end of February.  You can get it on their website right here.  Make sure you choose the correct bag for your country!

  1. I just opened my bag today, before reading your review, and I had a separation problem with my highlighter as well. I took the seal off and went to squirt some on my hand, but it was so watery it just ran out and got all over my lap. After shaking it up I tried again and it was still too runny. I have never used this before, so I don't know if it's supposed to be like that or not. Other than that, I am pretty happy with this bag. I only started getting into Asian beauty products a few months ago, all because of your reviews. I signed up for the 3b bag in December after reading your review, and it's just been a growing obsession since then. So, thank you!

    1. I just sent Beauteque an email about the highlighter, to see if it's supposed to be like that. I noticed my Etude House sleeping cream has a best before date of 5/10/14, so I'm wondering if the highlighter is outdated. I don't see a date anywhere on the bottle. I've used outdated products before, I know they're not gonna kill me, I just don't think it's right for companies to knowingly sell them to you. Of course, mistakes happen. This months French Box was disappointing enough, then they told us that two products in the box were outdated and not to use them. So it does happen, and I'm wondering if that's the case with this highlighter.

    2. If I squeezed out a lot of the luminizer I got to the not-runny part and it's not bad but still super shiny. I'm not positive but it might be discontinued which I don't like. I'm interested to know what they said. I probably should email them, too, just so they're not thinking it's only one person who had that issue. And to express that discontinued items isn't cool.

The Etude House Spoon, though, is safe. I have the same date and that's actually the Manufacture date not the expire date. 제조 means "manufacture" 까지 means "until". Those characters are the most common on Korean products. Usually it's the manufacture date, though I think putting the expire date is becoming more common.

I saw the French Box contents and was horrified. I had cancelled in December because I was a little worried about how they were going to continue getting products. It seemed like they were grasping at straws and this month really showed that. I don't want them to fail because I think they have a good idea but I think they either need to raise the price of the subscription and increase the quality of the items or go bi-monthly in order to get time to find products for their boxes.
