Birchbox February 2015 Review ~ Rent the Runway + Birchbox

I got the Birchbox + Rent the Runway box for February 2015.  It was one of the options in an email I got and I managed to check it in enough time to get one before they all sold out.  I never used to get these emails and I wonder if I get them now because I'm an Ace.

The Cost: $10/month

What You Get: Samples and sometimes full size items, including everything from makeup and skin care to non beauty essentials like candles and tea. Plus a really great points program.
Birchbox is a subscription box staple.  It's only $10 and while full sizes are relatively rare and some boxes can be duds, the points system makes everything worth it.  After you subscribe and get your first box, you will be able to review the products in your box for points.  Ten points per review and 100 points is $10.  So for every box, you basically get $5 back and you can spend it in their shop.  And their shop is amazing. Anything from Clarisonic to candles to tea to luxury perfumes and cosmetics. They've got it all and if you save up your points, you can get your favorite things absolutely free.

Not Soap, Radio Body Wash- This smells AMAZING!  It's blackberry and vanilla and it makes me drool.  I feel like I should keep this for my trip, too but I don't think I can wait that long to experience the awesomeness.

Derma e Anti-Wrinkle Vitamin A Glycolic Scrub- I love this stuff.  I found this originally in a Birchbox and bought the full size from the Birchbox shop (for free).  They haven't been carrying it in awhile and this is the main reason I chose this box when I saw the email.  It's a grainy, all natural cleanser and both DH and I use it so it goes fast.  This is a perfect travel size so I think I may save this for our trip to Germany in May.
Fekkai Blowout Hair Refresher Dry Shampoo- This is my least favorite item because I just cannot get dry shampoo to work with me.   I feel like it leaves flakes or doesn't work well enough for me.  I have oily hair and while I dont feel it's excessively oily, I just cannot make this work as well as it does for others.  This is a brand I haven't tried yet so maybe it'll work better.
Sumita Color Contrast Eyeliner-  This is blue!  Eyeliners aren't my favorite but at least it's not black!  I haven't unwrapped this yet so I can't tell you if it's awesome or not because I just got a new blue one from Julep in my Mystery Box.

theBalm Read My Lips Gloss in BAM-  This is a pinky nude and is very thin.  It applys with a doe foot applicator and smells very tasty.  There is no actual taste and it's fairly sticky but I like the color so I'll be using this.  Plus I'm addicted to lippies.
Also included this month, courtesy of Rent the Runway was a $30 off coupon for a dress rental over $75.  Since I think Rent the Runway is pretty awesome, I'll likely be using this soon so I'm glad it was part of the box!

VERDICT: I really do love this box.  I've been so happy with the boxes I've been receiving since I changed up my profile.  I'm afraid to touch my profile now just in case I mark something that sends me back to less than stellar boxes.  Of course, I guess I *did* pick this box so it wouldn't use my profile anyway.
I've been having a lot of fun with these guest editor boxes.  I've been using Rent the Runway for years and adore their service.

If you would like to sign up for Birchbox, I absolutely recommend it.  It's also a great gift for anyone over the age of 12, I think.  I'll be giving a subscription to my neice when she turns 14.  She'll love it!

If at all possible, try to use a coupon when you make your purchase!  I have some but I'm not sure they work or not because once I use them, I can't check them anymore.  Here is what I have: BBJETBLUE or 100FORYOU for 100 points ($10) when you subscribe.  Use TAKEOFF20 when making a shop order.

Sign up for Birchbox here!!  They also ship to Canada!

  1. Mmm, that body wash sounds delicious. I have one of those Sumita eyeliners in a different color from a Birchbox past and I love it! It's great for tightlining because it doesn't smudge like crazy. And I hate, hate HATE that Fekkai dry shampoo, lol. Maybe you'll feel differently though.
