Boxycharm March 2015 Spoiler #1!

Boxycharm put up their first March 2015 Spoiler!  It's so interesting!  I've never heard of this stuff and I'm not quite sure what to think of it.

It is Previse Nutrify Skin Type 1-6 Universal Tonic.  Here is the link to it on the website.  Nutrify Liposomal Tonic 1-6 is our latest bio-healthy innovation to help hydrate skin plus fight free radicals and surface irritants. The bio-heathly tonic was crafted with Professional Makeup Artists for exceptional performance. The dual benefit, mattifying hydrator helps scavenge free radicals PLUS acts as a key, light-weight barrier to makeup that may contain parabens, triclosan and other skin irritating ingredients.

Ingredients: Aqueous Solution (Water, Saccharide Isomerate, Algae Extract, Chondrus Crispus Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Pichia/Resveratrol Ferment Extract ), Bellis Perennis (Daisy) Flower Extract, Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate, Glycerin, Xanthan Gum, Panthenol, Triticum Vulgare (Wheat) Germ Extract, Hydrolyzed Chondrus Crispus Extract, Foeniculum Vulgare (Fennel) Fruit Extract, Yeast Extract.

Based on the ingredients I have a feeling there is some stretching of the truth happening in their description.  This will definitely hydrate your skin, it's got some great moisturizers in there.  But as for scavenging free radicals, they're grasping at straws.  I think they're saying that because this has Resveratrol in it but studies show clearly that resveratrol only has benefits if it is ingested and even then you've got to drink a lot for it to provide any real sort of benefit.

I also see nothing in there that's going to create a barrier.  There are no occlusive moisturizers at all. The fennel has some anti-inflammatory benefits which is nice but there's a counter to that in the Chondrus Crispus Extract (moss of some sort) which Cosdna gives a 5 for causing acne.

Basically, don't believe everything you read.  Research, research!  So while this won't do all the fancy stuff it claims to do, it *will* moisturize and hydrate.  Just keep in mind, if you have acne prone skin you might want to use it with care to see how your skin responds.

If you would like to sign up for Boxycharm, you can sign up right here!  It's $21/month.  I've never seen a coupon, sadly.  They send 5 full size items a month and usually have plenty of makeup.  This subscription is hard for me to give up because I get the most makeup in it.
