Glossybox March 2015 Review and Coupon Code #Glossybox

This March 2015 Glossybox is the last in my three month subscription.  I'm actually a little bummed about that and I'm hoping for a super awesome coupon to come around that makes it so I can't resist signing up again.
Glossybox tends to send more high end deluxe and full size samples than other subscription boxes. Although now that I type that, I think I mean that mostly in regards to makeup and beauty samples since other subscription boxes focus on other things. I think they have some pretty great items most months but I think Glossybox tends to be on my "OMG-Everything-is-amazing-and-perfect-I-love-this-box" list or I'm just totally "meh" about the whole thing.

I still think its a great subscription, though.  It's one of the first ones that got me hooked on subscription boxes and the one that introduced me to to Vichy skincare (which I love).

The Cost: $21/month

What You Get: Five luxury deluxe sized beauty essentials, from both well-known and emerging brands, delivered to your door each month.

So Susan Cosmetics Concealer Quad- This has four different colors so that I can mix them and find my perfect match.  Only I'm the first to admit that I have no idea what to do with this.  I have concealer, of course.  Several, in fact. Clinique, BareMinerals and a Bobbi Brown concealer in Porcelain (which is my favorite).   This is a full size palette which is nice.  That means you can test out your combinations as much as you want.
Value: $30

Orogold Cosmetics 24K Multi-Vitamin Day Moisturizer- This moisturizer contains specks of gold and vitamins.  While I doubt that the addition of gold is going to make much difference, this is a decent moisturizer.  I find the scent somewhat off-putting.  Kind of like an old lady smell. And it doesn't go away. I'm used to so many of my Korean moisturizers where you just need a little dab and it goes a long way but this Orogold does not have that effect.  I needed quite a bit and while I used it about twenty minutes ago, it still seems sticky to me.  Obviously I can't say anything about long term effects but it has vitamin e, glycerin, niacinamide and a little retinyl palmitate in it, so all that is good!
Value: $42 (shocking, I know.  We received half an ounce but it's $87/oz!)
Rich Hair Care Moisturizing Shampoo- I've never heard of this company but this shampoo has B5, aloe vera and avocado oil in it.  It says that the "derivatives of coconut oil" can reduce static which I would love to be true. I'm not sure what derives from coconut oil that could go in shampoo and I feel like that's funny wording.  Oh, I looked at the ingredient list and it has "cocomide" in it which is a foaming agent.  It looks like this is a French brand. It smells very good (and I see it has fragrance in the ingredients).  While I tend to hate hair products in my boxes, I think I'm going to try this one.
Value: $3

Tree Hut Shea Body Butter in Coconut Lime- I am not a body butter user.  Or I wasn't.  Until I smelled this Coconut Lime. *drool*  I had to immediately slather it on. Yes, it's moisturizing (goodbye, ashy knees!) and it's got that sticky feeling I don't like but I smell amazing. :D
This is made in the USA and is made with organic shea butter.  And it smells so good I want to eat it.
Value: $2
ModelCo More Brows Eyebrow Thickening Gel in Light/Medium- This was the one thing I was the most jazzed about.  Someone on Instagram commented that they didn't get it and I nearly had a heart attack realizing that the one thing I wanted most in the box was just a variation. I'm SO glad I got it. Now, while the card says that this will take you to Brooke Shields territory, I'm calling shenanigans. It's a brow thickening gel, not magic!  It's kind of a weird color and though I should probably go with a shade darker, the Light/Medium is going to be perfect for a lot of people so it was a good color choice. I used this on my unpenciled brows and feel that while this might fluff up your brows, you definitely still need to get in their with your pencil/powder/whatever and do what you normally do first. That could be just me and my dark eyebrows, though.  It's actually volumizing mascara for your brows.  Basically. I'll use it.  I think this might even be the full size.
Value: $15

VERDICT:  This Glossybox (especially after last months) is kind of blah.  But even as I say that, I realize that so much of it is actually practical and something I'll use. Apparently, I'm hard to please because I want exciting, interesting AND practical products. Since I already used up my Unwash shampoo from last month (and loved it except for the fact that it doesn't lather and therefore I need a ton of it because my hair is long), I will be trying this Rich shampoo.  I'm already using the Tree Hut body butter (Yum!) and the brow gel. At least one of the moisturizer tubs will be used because I'm curious.  So while it's not super exciting, it does have useful stuff.

If you want to sign up for Glossybox, you can do that right here. There are a couple coupons floating around, one is for a free full size OCC Loose Color Concentrate in Smote.  That code is OCCSMOTE.  Then I'm not sure if it's still activated or not but you can try for 15% off your first box with code BITSBOX15.  I'm pretty sure that's good until the end of March at least.

If you use Ebates, don't forget to activate it and get $2.75 in cashback.

  1. I see what you mean about this box, it does seem kind of "blah," but I would end up using all of the items as well. I guess none of them really have much of a "wow" factor.

    1. I ended up really liking the shampoo so I'm happy about that. It's funny how some of my boring boxes turn out to be the most useful. There's probably a lesson in there somewhere... :D

  2. Whoaaaa at the price of that gold moisturizer. I really love the smell of that Tree Hut body butter too... I feel like it's a bit heavy for spring/summer though. I like it a lot for parched winter skin.
