OrangeGlad March 2015 Sweet Box Review and 40% Off Coupon!

I was so distracted when my March 2015 OrangeGlad got here that I forgot about it for a few hours. When I finally remembered that there was succulent sweets waiting for me, I got right down to business.  I love that OrangeGlad sends bakery goods.  I don't know how they do it but they send interesting, tasty treats that can be impossible to find elsewhere.
Plus while I may have forgotten about St. Patty's Day, OrangeGlad did not and sent something to commemorate the holiday.  Plus how cute is the packaging?  I mean really.  So careful and cute. Hey, when you write about subscription boxes all day, you start appreciating certain things.  I can't help it!

The Cost: $21/month

What You Get: Five deluxe size, carefully selected gourmet treats and sweets delivered once a month.
OrangeGlad Itty Bitties- It looks like OrangeGlad is branching out into making their own treats. These are tiny shortbread cookies and I'll tell you right now, they might be the best shortbread cookies I ever ate.  I don't like hard shortbread and these are soft, moist and butterlicious.  I didn't want to stop eating them.

Lark's Fine Foods Russian Tea Cakes-  These are known by a zillion different names (like Mexican Wedding Cookies) and I know we had these growing up but we never called them Russian Tea Cakes.  I always thought they were Greek since my grandma made them and she might be as Greek as they come without being actually born there.  She had sass and she knew how to make herself heard despite being 4'9".
Anyway, these were packed as carefully as they could be, I suppose, but they still crumbled quite a bit en route.  Since these are a melt-in-your-mouth cookie, I don't know how that could have been prevented anyway.  These are delicious and really reminded me of Christmas since that's when we always had these.
Sweet E's Bake Shop Kiss Me I'm Irish Cake Pop-  Well, I don't know about you but I'm a mutt.  I'm mostly Greek on my mom's side but my dad is a European mishmash.  My maiden name is Swedish, I've got a dash of English (, Scotch and a healthy dab of Irish which is likely responsible for all the redheadedness in the family.  Who really knows?
In any case, I still feel like I'm allowed to wear a "Kiss Me" pin.  Or eat a Kiss Me I'm Irish Cake Pop.  Which I did.  First.  Inside was the moistest, most mouthwatering red velvet cake ever.  It was so, so good.  I dragged it out as long as I could, savoring the deliciousness.  Love!
Seattle Chocolates San Juan Sea Salt Truffle Bar-  Since I live in Seattle, these things are everywhere. They have some of the most exotic and delicious chocolate bars I've ever seen and they are rich and decadent.  This is milk chocolate with crunchy toffee and sea salt.  I'm happy to see this included because really, you can't go wrong with good chocolate.  Yum.

Smackaroons Chocolate Almond Macaroon-  This is made with pecans and coconut and dipped in dark chocolate.  It was also hard as a rock and completely dried out.  I didn't like my first bite because of that so I didn't eat the rest.  Maybe the packaging is the culprit?  Or maybe it's just not a good macaroon.

VERDICT:  As always, OrangeGlad has provided an eclectic array of sweets and treats for the month.  I like trying new things and since these are pretty much the only treats that enter the house, it's even more fun for me.  I never buy this kind of stuff at the store and I think the portion sizes are perfect for me.  I'm not going to be eating an entire package of anything and I won't have to feel bad if a box goes to waste or gets stale.  No.  These are perfect individual size portions that are just the kind of thing I need every once in awhile.  With all that being said, I still think it's a little pricey for what you get.  But there is a solution to that!  Coupons!

I do like OrangeGlad and the curation of their treats.  I like them even better at 40% off.  Use coupon code LACOOKIE15 and get any subscription length for 40% off a one or three month subscription. I can tell you unequivocally that it IS worth trying this subscription for that price.  Absolutely.  The coupon expires March 31st and is the same one I used to get this subscription.  I got three months and I think my boxes are something like $12 each.  Don't quote me on that because I'm too lazy to work it out and I'm bad at math.

So, sign up here for OrangeGlad, choose your subscription length, put in your address and then on the billing page (before you pay) punch in LACOOKIE15 and get yourself a sweet deal.

Oh, and if you have time, you can try getting $5 off (or it might be $5 in your shop account, I have no idea really) by putting in my referral code right above where the Coupon Code goes.  My referral code is: SARAHOG31858.  Either way, enjoy your April goodies when you get them!

  1. I got this box too but my fiance and I pigged out on everything before I realized that I hadn't photographed it!! Whoops! LOL ;) I totally agree those shortbread cookies were SOOOO good. I was surprised that they were so soft and delicious! The chocolate was yummy too! I wasn't fond of the Macaroon either. It just tasted stale to me? idk. After the first bit my roommate ate the rest of it and said it was "fine." I thought it was a nice array of products, but I kind of felt like the servings were super small. I haven't gotten an Orange Glad box since the summer, but it seemed like the size of the items were much bigger then. I mean, they made the dang shortbread cookies you'd think they'd throw a few more in there since they were so stinkin small! LOL Overall I was really happy with this box though! Very tasty!

    1. Haha! You don't even know how hard it was for me to take the pictures before I dug in. Or wait... You do know! The shortbread stars didn't make it and that's why they're open in all the photos. :D
