Thoughts for the Week~ A Look into My Life

I figured I should write some non-box posts so you can have an idea of what I'm like when I'm not digging through boxes.  I'm pretty normal.  I wish I had some ridiculously amazing and jet-set life but nah, I'm just like everyone else.

We will be heading to Las Vegas soon to meet up with some friends and I just know I'm going to have blog withdrawals while I'm there.  Since it's the first vacation we've had in a long time, I'm going to try really hard to not think about blogging and instead have fun.

I'm not really a gambler but I've been to Las Vegas twice and had tons of fun both times.  It seems that it usually depends on who you go with.
The first time I went with my best girlfriend and we had so much fun right up until we had to take the shuttle to the airport.  We were both hit with some incredible food poisoning which we think came from a Subway inside one of the casinos.  Not very happy.  Luckily by the time we got on the plane, I was feeling better (thanks, in part, to Immodium) but poor Rowena was in the tiny bathroom during takeoff.

The second time was for a wedding.  Our best man's dad was remarrying and it was probably the most fun I'd had in ten years.  For one, the new side of the family is full of pizzazz and personality. With a showgirl and Hollywood singer in the mix, it was non-stop fun.  Oh, and it was over New Years, too.  It was pretty wild.  I actually got pulled into someone's wedding and used as a bridesmaid.  I'm still not quite sure how that happened but it was fun and ridiculous.

This time we are staying at Ceasars Palace which is more central.  If you've got any ideas of things we should do or shouldn't miss, say so! I have literally nothing planned.

Make sure you enter the giveaways I have running right now.  The TikiBox giveaway has ended and Denise will be having the April box sent her way.  Still up is my Hydration Essentials BB Bag with Beauteque.  Obviously I think the prize is amazing because I curated it! Haha!  Enter to win my bag right here.

Still to come is my Love With Food Deluxe box giveaway and I feel like there was one more in the works but I can't think of it right now.

Here at home, the dogs are happy and wallowing in toys.  My garden is starting to get some blooms going although the weeds are out of control.  I need to get a load of bark but the work involved in spreading it all deters me.  So backbreaking!

We are getting a new fence put in, too.  I had no idea when we bought a house how expensive the actual not-house parts are.  I think we would have put the fence off if we could but it's 20 years old and literally falling apart. It's like when we first moved in, every single lightbulb died within a month. I had no idea how expensive lightbulbs are when you have to buy the special kind.  That was 12 new lightbulbs!  I groan but I really do love our house and I love gardening even though it's a lot of work.

I'll probably be posting a bit less in the next month in order to get my garden prettied up, slug baited, weeded and re-organized.  I have several plants I want to move.  I didn't realize how fast plants grew and some are now much too close.  Haha!  It was probably a garden noob thing to do but oh well, too late now.  Where's that shovel?

Let's see, what else?  I've been having a ton of fun blogging and trying new boxes.  The Rachel Zoe Box of Style will be shipping April 1st and I'm really excited to see what else is in it besides the bracelet.

I'm still planning my trip to Germany, it's gone through several revamps already but I should have everything finalized and figured out by the end of the month.  I'm so excited about it.  My husband is dreading it but once he's there, he'll be fine.  He absolutely hates plane trips.  Haaates them.

I've got some fun reviews coming up, including an Uppercase Box! It's a box that sends you a new YA book each month.  I love reading so much and I actually read one of their recommendations they made on Instagram.  That was Kiss of Deception and I loved it so I decided if they can makes picks that good, I should check it out.  That won't get here til next month, though. But my Style Quarterly shipped!  I'm going to be so sad because it'll probably arrive while I'm gone and I'm sure it's full of fun stuff!

Alright, I'm off to edit some more photos and test some of my spices for my RawSpiceBar review!

  1. Ooh Vegas! The High Roller opened the week after I was there last year, but I hear it's pretty good for getting night shots of the strip. It's right behind the LINQ so it's close to where you'll be staying. And tell me about those non-house costs! When we bought, I totally forgot that we were responsible for bringing in our own dirt, building a fence, etc. I swear it came out to more than our down payment!

    1. Aha! So you know exactly what I mean about houses!! And we need 200 feet of fence! Ugh. Our friends bought a house and then had to replace the roof... And that *was* more than their down payment. Im glad it wasn't us but now I know what to look for if we ever have to move and buy a new place. No old roofs!

  2. What a lovely post! It's great to read about how you're doing! The Uppercase box sounds interesting I love reading too! As for Vegas, my boyfriend and I love that place, one of my favorite places to go when I'm there is, of course, the Bellagio Conservatory! Right across the street from Caesars. I love Caesars too, the High Roller at the Linq is pretty fun too there are usually groupons for tickets for that. If you love buffets definitely try Caesars Bacchanal buffet, it's completely worth it! Have fun and gardening actually sounds quite therapeutic once you get into it right? :)

    1. Okay, I think you're the fourth person to mention the Bacchanal buffet so we are definitely doing it! I don't know if I can convince my husband to do the High Roller, though. He has a "thing" about heights... Maybe we can leave the boys behind and just us girls go do it :D
And yessss, gardening is so theraputic! And I get a nice feeling of satisfaction when I've cleaned up/weeded an area. :D

  3. Have fun in Las Vegas! I find it hard to tear myself away from blogland too... it's hard to write and edit photos on the go, but I often find myself still trying, lol. I'm envious of your gardening plans. It's snowing sort of heavily here right now! Happy spring?

    1. The decision was sort of made for me because the WiFi was terrible. I wish we had some snow at home. I still can't believe it's March and 85 here in Las Vegas... it's maybe 60 at home but definitely not cold enough to snow.
