Beauteque Mask Maven April 2015 ~ Asian Beauty Mask Subscription

You may already be familiar with BeautequeMonthly's Asian beauty subscription called the BB Bag but they have now introduced a new subscription that's all about masks! The Mask Maven subscription sends 9-11 different kinds of masks each month. You can get anything from sheet masks, nail masks, hair masks, wash off masks and/or foot masks. If it's a mask of any kind, it can show up in your Mask Maven bag!
I I have a fairly large collection of masks and definitely have my favorites but this is a fantastic way to replenish your mask stash and discover new, interesting brands.  Beauteque sources not just from Korea but also from Japan and Taiwan so there's a pretty wide array to choose from when they're packing bags.  I am pretty impressed with what I was sent.

If you subscribe after the 10th of the month, you'll receive next month's bag so if you sign up now, you will be getting May's bag (not this one). Once you've signed up, billing occurs on the 20th of each month and start shipping that same date.

The Cost: $15/month plus shipping. Ships internationally.

What You Get: Nine to 11 Asian beauty masks of all types sent to your door every month.

Hanaka Pomegranata Resiliency Reviving Mask- This is a Taiwanese brand that I'm not super familiar with. I usually go for My Beauty Diary when I'm getting a Taiwanese mask but the ingredients in most Hanaka masks that I have seen are decent to good so they definitely get added to my stash. This one is a moisturizing and skin brightening mask with pomegranate extract.
Value: $1.25

Hanaka 2-Step Pore Eraser- Another Hanaka mask but this is a pore mask that also has a toner treatment for after the mask. Sounds like fun to me!
Value: $1.25

Tony Moly Red Cheeks Girl's Patches- These are round gel masks for your cheeks. Since I  have particularly dry cheeks, I actually use this type of mask. I have several different kinds currently, some are called "point pads." Technically, you can use these anywhere but I particularly like these because they're gel.
Value: $2
My Beauty Diary Red Vine Mask- Since I like My Beauty Diary, I totally don't  mind seeing two of their masks in this box. This is a wine mask for brightening and revitalizing. It has aloe and green tea extract in it. I'm not quite sure why its called Vine... Although I guess grapes do grow in vines and eventually can become wine sooo.... :D
Value: $2

My Beauty Diary Coix Seed Mask- This mask uses seaweed, yeast and cosphingo to soothe and whiten. I like My Beauty Diary because they're very reasonably priced and pretty good at moisturizing. My favorite so far has been the Hyaluronic Acid mask but I haven't tried them all yet. I've never used either of these MBD masks, so I'll definitely be trying them and seeing if they are comparable.
Value: $1.50
Etude House Korean Ginseng Revitalizing and Nourishing Mask- This is the only mask I can't use of the bunch. The last ginseng mask I used turned my face tomato red for a day and caused one of the worst breakouts of my life. I've avoided anything ginseng ever since.
Value: $1

Leaders InSolution Amono AC-Free Mask- Leaders is a great mask brand and this one has an amino acid complex with AHA and BHA, along with snail secretion filtrate. Of all the masks in this box, I think this is the most exciting for me. I also feel like it might be the most efficacious of the bunch.
Value: $2
Holika Holika Juicy Mask in Pomegranate- Contains pomegranate extract for smooth and elastic skin. A pretty basic sheet mask using glycerin as the moisturizer. That's pretty common in most masks. The Holika Holika Juicy masks do have a nice batch of antioxidants in them, though, so they aren't exactly a waste of time. They just aren't my "go-to" for mask.
Value: $2

Holika Holika Juicy Mask in Mango- This mask contains mango extract for radiant, revitalized skin. There are several masks in the "Juicy" line up and I've tried a couple. I still go back to My Beauty Diary masks every time, though.
Value: $2

VERDICT: This is a great collection of sheet masks. I actually like that some of the brands are represented twice. I think it helps to give a better idea of whether you like a mask or not when you can try it twice. The value is exactly what you pay for although I suppose not being forced to buy masks as a ten pack adds a little more. I've quoted prices based on ten-pack pricing so singles are probably a little more expensive that what I have here. If you love masks and want to experience a greater variety, this is pretty perfect. I would like to see a better value, though, and I wish shipping was free or at least less expensive.

I'm interested to see what else is included in future bags. This one was mostly sheet masks, which I personally prefer, but I wonder what kinds of wash off masks could end up in a Mask Maven bag. Tempting, tempting.

If you would like to sign up for Beauteque's Mask Maven, you can do that right here. It's part of their Beauteque Monthly website which also sells their BB Bags.

*This Mask Maven subscription bag was sent to me for review purposes. No compensation was received and all opinions are stubbornly my own.

    1. Yep, that was the one. The black mask. Worst thing ever. At least I'm not the only one. It might have been something else specific to that mask but I am so not willing to go through that again just to test. *shiver*

  3. OMG, tomato face does not sound like fun. The Dewytree ginseng mask didn't do anything bad to me, but I had a similar reaction with Freeman's sheet masks a while back... shudder. Anyway, I really like the MBD Vine masks. I would be very excited about that and the Leaders mask.

    1. Okay, Im starting with the Vine mask :D Im glad it didnt do anything to you because it means it wasn't a bad mask, it was most likely the fact of ginseng.
