Nicely Noted June 2015 Stationery Subscription Review

Nicely Noted is a stationery subscription dedicated to finding some of the best and most unique cards for you to send to friends and loved ones. If you are a stationery connoisseur, you probably know all about this subscription.

You will receive only letterpress cards. Letterpress is the oldest form of printing and is (very) basically pressing an inked image-block or type-block on paper. It's primarily used for fine art and stationery nowadays. The stationery is usually hand-fed and letterpressed by a operator skilled in the craft. It produces clean, clear lines and tends to leave an impression as it's hallmark. It's truly an art and a luxury.
I've been wanting to be more proactive about sending snail mail. Mostly because my grandma sends me cards and I always love getting them. There's just something about seeing real handwriting on something that comes out of the mailbox. I always smile when I see it.

The Cost: $20/month

What You Get: Three high quality letterpress cards curated by Nicely Noted and three beautiful stamps.

Connected Dots by Pepper Press- This is a blank card with blue dots. I find it strangely appealing though I would like it to have had more color. This is printed on acid-free, premium 100% cotton cardstock (tree-free) on an antique Vandercook press.
Value: $5.50

Also included are three stamps. One for each card. I love the pink tree one. And the "From Me to You" one is very apropos. These are Forever stamps so you can save them as long as you want.
How much are stamps now? Forty seven cents? Forty-nine?
Value: $1.50
Boat by Iron Curtain Press- This is printed from a block found in the 1940's. It's by boat designer Harold Cornelius Hansen. These cards are printed on a printing press thats over 125 years old! Iron Curtain uses cotton paper and handmixes their own inks.
Value: $5
Birthday Brushies by Hammerpress- This is perfect timing! No last minute trip for a birthday card. Instead my mother in law will get a letterpress card for her birthday. It's even her style! Hammerpress uses recycled paper and is one of the better known letterpresses within the US.
Value: $4.50

VERDICT: I think Nicely Noted is for a very specific cross-section of people. Those who are interested in unique, handmade stationery and those who love to send notes in the mail. This subscription does not have an exceptional value but it will introduce you to the world of letterpress stationery. Maybe I'm not so high brow because I would rather spend my $5 on an eye-catching card by Papyrus than indulge in a letterpress card for the sake of art. At least, not for this price.

However, I am not the target audience for this subscription. I want to send more mail but I'm not picky about what I'm sending as long as I'm *doing* it!

If you love letterpress, love sending mail but don't want to have to search for a card every time, then Nicely Noted is here for you!

You can sign up for your Nicely Noted subscription right here.  You don't even have to bother getting stamps either. Isn't that nice? :D

Do you get Nicely Noted? What do you think of this subscription?
