OrangeGlad June 2015 Sweet Box Review and Coupon

OrangeGlad is a subscription box that deals primarily with baked goods and handmade candies. They find small, independent bakeries and confectionaries and give us the opportunity to try things we may never have had. They've recently changed up their pricing structure and lowered their prices which is nice.

I don't know how they are going to deal with the summer heat but I'm guessing they won't send chocolate for a few months. One of the products in my box this month appears to have been affected by the heat and it was only in the box for a day and a half. They ship Priority Mail which I love.

The Cost: $19/month.

What You Get: Five deluxe size, carefully selected gourmet treats and sweets delivered once a month.

Cookies con Amore Italian Jelly Filled Linzer- This turned out to be my favorite thing in the box. Oh, after the Crispycake, I mean. These are a perfect cookie. Not too sweet with the exact amount of jelly that I like. Totally decadent and rich.
Value: $3.50

The Crispery Cookies and Cream Crispycake- These are GIANT rice krispie treats. Huge. I've had them before in a box, I think it was Taste Trunk and loved it so much I actually bought some right from the company itself. The shipping is exorbitant and quite prohibitive so it's not something I would do again. Their best product is the regular Crispycake, in my opinion, but this one is a close second. Yummy!
Value: $4.50
Raspberry-Matcha Cookie Sandwich- This has a matcha ganache inside a raspberry studded shortbready-type cookie. It's pretty tasty but nothing fabulous.
Value: $4.25

Fine Sconehenge Baking Co Luscious Lemon Bar- This is the one that had a heat issue. It's completely floppy and melted to the packaging. It's more like pudding. However, I tried it anyway and it's delicious! I love the shortbread crust and it's the perfect amount of tart lemony goodness.
Value: $2.50
Becky's Blissful Bakery Salted Beer and Pretzel Caramel- I don't know why everyone wants to ruin caramels with salt. However these work because of the pretzel. I really don't like salted caramels because I like to taste caramel not salt when I'm savoring one. This is sort of chewy because of the embedded pretzels and the salt doesn't bother me as much because of it. Yay!
Value: $4.50

VERDICT: OrangeGlad does an excellent job at providing a variety of treats. One of the things I like about them is the wide range of brands and item types. This box has a value of just over $19 which is the price paid. That is actually excellent for OrangeGlad and I'm really happy to see that. Food boxes don't tend to be extravagant with their values and are more about experiencing new goodies than getting a crazy good deal. I've been subscribed for six months but unsubbed this month to cut back on food boxes. This box had several products that I liked. Sometimes that doesn't happen so it was nice to have enjoyed so many of the desserts in this box.

  1. Everything in this box looks to-die-for but the Crispery Cookies looks especially amazing! I've gotten a few Orange Glad boxes and they always had wonderful treats.

  2. I just got my box and am excited to eat it! Sucks about your over heated treat.

  3. THE CRISPERY!!!!!!

  4. Sconehenge is a hilarious name - too bad it got kind of floppy. They should really put cold packs in the box come summer, chocolate or no. It's too easy for pastry to get funky when it's humid.

    1. I hope they do, too. If the bar was floppy when it got to me in balmy Seattle, I can't imagine what they looked like when they got to Florida. They ship from California... Although it is by 2 day mail.
