Japan Candy Box June 2015 Review and Giveaway!

Japan Candy Box is a new subscription by Blippo, the same people who do the Kawaii Box. It's jam-packed with Japanese candies. Each box promises eight to ten candies and snacks.

This was definitely an adventure for me. Plus I love the DIY kits and have to play with them for a little bit even if I am old. :D

The Cost: $19.90/month (shipping is free and international)

What You Get: Each month you will receive 8-10 Japanese sweets and snacks.

Each box comes with a list of all the things you'll find in your box. This is the June box and I have no idea why it took so long to get to me. In fact, I thought it was going to be the July one. Guess not!

Dorayaki Japanese Hotcake- Dorayaki is a traditional Japanese treat and is made up of two pancakes sandwiched with sweet red bean paste. Blech. I hate red bean paste!
Kobaya Fish Gummies- This is a nice big bag of gummies. They have sort of a sugar dusting on them. They're a little tart but not too sour. I'm not sure what the flavors are.

Yaokin Sour Paper Candy- These are cola flavored. Why don't US candies have cola flavor? I have liked the cola flavored Japanese candy I've received in snack boxes. They might be kinda like Dr. Pepper, either you love it (like me!) or you don't.
Popin' Cookin' Neri Candy Land DIY Kit-This is a Do-It-Yourself set for shaping different figures and animals from delicious edible candy material. Of course I had to play with it. That's what DIY kits are for! So I made a cat with a mustache. It was actually supposed to be a smile but it only ever looked like a mustache so I gave up and accepted it. There were sprinkles, a plastic tub that you could use as a stamp and five colors of candy. It was pretty fun, I'm not going to lie.
Meiji Petit Bubblegum- Small pieces of cola flavored gum with a hard candy shell. A handful makes a decent size chewing gum. They taste a little strange but sort of addicting at the same time.

Kabaya Pokemon Pikachu Pretzels- These are like Cookies and Cream Pocky sticks only not Pocky brand. Pretty good, though. :)
Puccho Mixed Fruit Chewy Candy- These remind me of Hi-Chews only they have a sort of weird inner sauce. Which doesn't sound good. Except that it is.
Marukawa Fusen Bubblegum- This is really weird tasting. It has the typical Japanese gum consistency but I can't figure out the flavor. It reminds me of something though.

Meiji Kotsubu Chocolates- If these are chocolates... They must be white chocolate? Because inside these is a sort of really soft Skittles type of concoction. Interesting but not enough for me to keep eating. Drat my calorie counting.

Lotte Koala March Biscuits- These arrived without a box. I'm guessing it's because it made it easier to fit in the package. They were in the inner bag, of course. Not loose. Except I opened them first and mangled the bag so there's no picture of it.

I will say that this is a LOT of candy! I can't believe how much they fit in the box. I started with the Koalas and ate the Sour Paper strip and I still have so much more to scarf! Plus, most of these were things I've never had before. I just wish that had been one snack type. I know it's called a candy box but hey, I can dream. :)

If you would like to sign up for the Japan Candy Box, you can do that here. They ship internationally so everyone can get a box. Woohoo!
