Rachel Zoe Box of Style Summer 2015 Review Plus Get $10 Off First Box!

The Box of Style by Rachel Zoe and the Zoe Report is probably my new favorite box. The Summer 2015 Box of Style is more fun that I've had in awhile. Since this is a quarterly box, the contents revolve around the seasons and this one is so perfectly "summer" I can hardly stand it. The curation is excellent and I appreciate the Spring Box of Style, too.
I love this box because it's so luxe. Everything is high quality and the kind of things you aren't going to find in any other box. I mean, have you ever seen a Mara Hoffman sarong in another box? I have not. I'd say it's probably on par with a Popsugar LE box but more special since it's curated with Rachel Zoe style.

The Cost: $100/quarter

What You Get: At least five products worth over $300 in fashion, beauty and lifestyle carefully curated by Rachel Zoe and her team.

The Cambridge Satchel Company White Leather Pushlock Handbag- This item was spoiled way back when the box was first available to order so I knew it was going to be in there. I do have to admit that this isn't my favorite style of bag but I don't have anything white so it's a fun addition to my handbag collection.
This is made in Great Britain and is a British company (in case the Cambridge part didn't already clue you in). It smells wonderfully of leather. The strap is too long for me even across my body but I'm short (5'2") and that's not unusual. If I punch a few more holes in it I think I'd be much more likely to use it. There are no pockets inside but the bag is quite stiff and roomy.
The hardware is heavy and sturdy. The flimsiest thing would be the strap which is pretty thin (and it's not flimsy at all sooo....). Gah. I just can't decide how much use this would get. As a clutch it's pretty awesome. It also comes with a dust bag.
Value: $100
Mara Hoffman Sarong Exclusive- This is so beautiful! The fabric is glorious and perfect for the horrible heat we've been having to live with lately. I love the bright colors. This particular pattern was made exclusively for Rachel Zoe for the box of style so it's pretty important. It looks like a jungle. The fabric is very thin and it's suggested to use this as a scarf once fall hits. It's a big square and has tassels on the corners. I put it on and my husband asked me where did I get such a "cute outfit." Of course, I said "A subscription box!"
Value: $98
Too Faced Sun Bunny Natural Bronzer- Too Faced has been on my radar for awhile since getting an eyeshadow palette in a Popsugar box last year. I freely admit that I haven't worn much makeup in my life. Partly because my mom never wore it and partly because I managed to get good genes. I really can't take credit for my skin (thanks, mom!).
However! Now that I'm past 35, I'm finding that makeup is my friend and when it comes to brightening up my complexion and providing a little more definition to my cheekbones, a bronzer works wonders. I actually watched this video by Maskcara and learned frame-by-frame (seriously, I paused it after each new section) how to apply bronzer, highlighter and concealer.
It's not nearly as scary as you think it is but it does take a little time to perfect the technique. I learned what I liked and what I didn't like and I stick to the basics (I don't contour around my nose unless I'm going to be in photos).
This is a nice pinky bronzer and I'm excited to try it. Currently I'm in love with my Tarte Park Avenue Princess but I'll be giving this one some love. I feel bad for my BareMinerals collection because I haven't used any of them in ages.
Value: $30
Too Faced La Creme Colour Drenched Lipstick in Spice Spice Baby- This is gorgeous! I was so afraid I would get some kind of red but no! It's a nice mauve rose and it slides on silky smooth with a glistening finish. Love it. Plus, it has peptides in it. I love peptides in  my skincare.
I also love the packaging. The gold metal is luxe feeling and the cap takes some pressure to get back on. The good thing about that is that the cap is never going to come off in your handbag.
Value: $22
Bristols6 Nippies Skin- These are made with an exclusive ultra-thin Invisifeel™ matte silicone for the smoothest coverage possible. The fact that these are reuseable is what really sells this for me. I don't go braless much at my age but there have been occasions when I wouldn't have minded a little extra niptastic coverage like this. I've got a gown I'll be wearing to an even that these will come in handy for.
These are pretty large. Like the size of my palm. They're very thin and arrive on hard plastic trays. They're definitely sticky and I feel like they collected fuzz just from the air. They're easy to clean with soap and water.
Value: $24
O.R.G. Skincare Mineral Face Peel- I love the inclusion of skincare! Unfortunately, I have pretty rigid standards these days when it comes to what goes on my face. The biggest thing is that it has to have effective ingredients. It's no good to slather something on if it's going to do precisely nothing for my skin. There's a LOT of that kind of thing out there and it's a process to weed through it all.
This is a little bit different because it's a cleanser/face peel. This is not going to peel the skin of your face off. There are no acids involved that will do that kind of thing. However it looks like when you rub this, it will pill up (it's not your skin! Don't worry!). It's basically collecting up any gunk left on your skin. I haven't tried it yet so I don't know if it's better or worse than anything else.
I'm actually pleased that it has glycerin as a moisturizer and aloe as a skin soother. If you have really sensitive skin, this does have grapefruit extract in it which can be an irritant. And there's a little bit of retinol but since this is not something that stays on your skin it's not going to be super beneficial.
I haven't decided about this. I have SO much stuff to try and this actually does seem fun but it's not so amazing that it jumps to the front of that line.
Value: $44

VERDICT: I love the curation of this Box of Style. I love that there were two fashion items, summer appropriate make up, skincare and an unusual fashion accessory. I can't help loving this box because I know how hard it can be to find one size fits all type things. It still won't be possible to have everything fit everyone but I think I'm lucky enough to be in a section of the population where I can fit most stuff. Even then, I still don't fit it all. I was so bummed when the Kendra Scott bracelet from the Popsugar LE box didn't fit. Small wrists aren't always a blessing, let me just say that.

What do you think about this box?! The satchel? Too white? Too leathery? Whats the best way to wrap a sarong that won't fall off?

  1. I'm so jealous that you got your box already! Mine JUST shipped from California today (and I live in NY). I hope it gets here quickly. I love everything, especially the handbag and the Too Faced products! The nippies are a little weird but I suppose they're practical?

    1. Yes, I've heard there've been some delays. Apparently some people won't have their boxes ship til the 15th! but they get an extra present... Yes, the nippies are weird! Wait til you feel them... It's almost gross-out territory. :D

  2. I want both of those Two Faced products!! But the rest doesn't do enough for me to pay $100 for this box - though the value really seems to be there for those who will use these items. :)

    1. They might be the best things in the box! There is a coupon for 15% off at toofaced.com if you're interested- it's TFZOE15. :D

  3. I agree with those who are saying this is not " really" worth $100 to me. First of all, I think stark white purses are gauche, and would never carry one. Thus, the big ticket item is a bust for me. Next who wears silicone pasties? No one I know, whew. That leaves a facial peel, again, I don't use them, 2 makeup products and a " sarong", which is another word for " large piece of fabric". Little Black Bag sent me about 4 caftans/ sarongs which were more fitted and prettier material.

I wouldn't pay much at all for this box because it's just not my style. And OMG, what if some style- challenged person actually wears the " sarong" ( I think the term is loosely interpreted here) with that bright white purse? Just say " Mama gone to town". So sorry, but yuck.

    1. LOL! While I love the sarong and the pattern, I don't think even I would try wearing the purse with it. :D I wasn't super enthused about the purse but I'm actually glad to have the pasties because I do attend a few black tie events through the year. If I had a smaller bust, I'd *definitely* use them with a halter-top or something like that.
I think, though, that I will be finding the purse a better home. I'm just not sure I can find a way for me to use it.

  4. Yesssss, I loved the sarong too! The fabric is incredibly soft and the print/color is just beautiful. *___* I'll probably end up wearing it as a scarf to brighten up some fall/winter outfits. XD I tried the face peel and I thought it was nice, but nothing super amazing. I did love how it smelled though.

    1. I wore it as a scarf yesterday and it works really well! I adore the print. What did you think of the bag?

    1. Yah, I'm not putting my drivers license in there, if that's what it's supposed to be for! Since it's on basically all of their bags, I'm guessing it's decorative. Or maybe like their trademark special thing that they do... Or whatever I mean.

  6. I'd never even seen a nipple cover until I read this post. They scare me haha!
