BeautyFix August 2015 Beauty Box Review + Half Off Your First Box

This August 2015 BeautyFix box is much more of what I've come to expect from Dermstore than the last one. That July box was awful. But this box is what I'm talking about! This is the reason I love Beautyfix. It's one of the only beauty boxes that sends spa quality skincare and haircare. I'm SO much happier with this box.
This is probably one of the most useful boxes I've received. The value is definitely incredible but sometimes I toss/trade a lot of stuff. This time... Nope. Gimme allll the goodness!

The Cost: $24.95/month + tax.

What You Get: Each month, we'll be offering a different BeautyFIX box, featuring full- and travel-size of the latest and greatest products in skin care, hair care and makeup, worth at least $100.

Medicell Labs Advanced Redness Relief Hydrating Cream- I was sold the second I saw redness relief. It's something I've struggled with although by cutting out products with alcohol and using a properly pH balanced cleanser, a large part of my problems have disappeared. This uses glycerin to hydrate, aloe vera to soothe and rose hip oil to pack on the antioxidant power. This is a full size product, too. While I wouldn't pay $60 for it, I'm happy to have it.
Value: $60

Glytone Mild Gel Wash- This has a perfect pH of 4. Perfect for keeping that acid mantle on your skin intact and happy. It uses glycolic acid to slough away dead skin cells and reveal the new healthy ones underneath. You really need an acid in your life for this type of thing. I use an AHA/BHA toner to do the same thing. I'm not sure how effective the glycolic acid is in a cleanser because it doesn't sit on your skin for long but this is definitely a good cleanser.
Value: $5
Smartfx Smarteye Wrinkle Lift- This has been in a past Blush Mystery Box and it is amazing. If you have a chance to get your hands on some of this, you should try it. Don't pay full price though. Get it on Ebay or something. You can see an actual difference when you use this on your undereyes. It says there are "micro-fillers" that plump and fill in fine lines while light-reflecting particles blur the appearance of dark circles. You will be amazed at how the wrinkles disappear. It's not permanent sadly but whoa, it's very effective.
Shake the tube, then lightly pat the tinted cream underneath your eye. Give it a bit to set and you're done. My 60 year old MIL loves this. She did a test and put some under one eye and none under the other. Then she had us all guess which eye she did. It was unanimous. That's how big a difference it made. We all guessed the correct eye because it was so obviously less wrinkly. It's not going to get your big wrinkles but all the little ones go poof.
Value: $60
Keranique Scalp Stimulating Shampoo- An amino acid-keratin complex that thickens and strengthens hair while peppermint oil stimulates circulation. Umm, so I love peppermint. In everything. I especially love it in my shampoo. Normally I hate getting shampoo in my boxes but peppermint shampoo is a whole different story!
Value: $4

Keranique Volumizing Keratin Conditioner- Nourishing keratin conditions and fortifies fine and thinning hair to help it regain fullness. Well, my hair can't "regain" it's fullness because it never had any to begin with. But I do have fine hair and if a conditioner is volumizing, that sounds good to me. Most of them just leave my hair limp.
Value: $4
Patchology FlashMasque Facial Sheet in Exfoliate-Formulated with our proprietary HydraSurge5™ Moisture System so you don't have to sacrifice essential moisture during exfoliation. Skin is polished to perfection and you’re left with soft, renewed and re-texturized skin.
I love this! Its a sheet mask designed for exfoliation by using lactic acid. It's also got aloe vera for soothing, sodium hyaluronate and glycerin for hydrating and some peptides! I think I'll use this tonight! These babies are NOT cheap so I'm really glad to have snagged this one to try.
Value: $6.25

Alterna Daily Densifying Foam- Is this box personalized? Because I am totally down with densifying my hair. Thin, remember? Thin and fine. This says it can save 1300 strands of hair a month. That will make my shower drain happy, that's for sure. And probably bathroom floor, hair brush and sink. I lose a lot. And this is another full size product, too!
Value: $27
Bliss Fabulous Foaming Face Wash- Soft microbeads in the gel cleanser gently exfoliate skin and dissolve excess oil. The pH appears to be 5.5 which is fine. I don't like to get any higher than six, for sure. This smells amazing!
Value: $3

Paula's Choice Clear Regular Strength Daily Skin Clearing Treatment- This uses benzoyl peroxide to balance oil production, combat blemishes and prevent new ones from forming. It's regular strength (2.5%) and is for blemish prone skin. It even leaves an invisible matte finish. I don't have particularly blemish prone skin but this sounds good. Plus I love Paula's Choice and this is full size!
Value: $17

VERDICT: What a turnaround from last month! This box is pure fabulous. It's kinda weird that there's two gel cleansers but that's fine by me because they're both good. A spot treatment for acne, a redness relief hydrator, a sheet mask, an undereye de-wrinkler and a bunch of hair stuff. Not bad. Not bad at all! Plus the brands... The brands make me happy. Good quality, good ingredients, totally worth my $27! Absolutely.

What do you think? If you'd like to sign up for BeautyFix, you can do that here. If you sign up right now you'll get this SAME box!! And! If you're a first time subscriber, you can get it for $12.98! Yep, half off for newbies!! Not only that but if you use Ebates, you can get 4% cashback!

Did you love this box? I totally did!

  1. I got this box last week and I LOVE IT! It's amazing and I have no idea how they can afford to do this?? I am also a mint fanatic! Esp with hair products - hope it's okay for color treated hair... and that SmartEye SmartFX wrinkle stuff works great for me too!!!!!!!! Although I'm still seriously considering botox (partly thanks to you!) - I turned 39 yesterday which doesn't bother me, but my crow's feet DO bother me.

    1. Are you sure we weren't separated at birth!? This box made up for last months tiny samples, that's for sure. But the biggest thing I love about BeautyFix is the brands. And this month is so great! And the doctor did say that the crow's feet hurt the least so you won't have to worry about pain if you do decide to do it. :D
