Mishibox August 2015 Review ~ Discover Korean Beauty

Mishibox is one of a few new kbeauty boxes available in the United States right now. Canadians may now rejoice because Mishibox opened up shipping to Canada! The August box features some kbeauty staples along with some fun items from an unusual brand.
Mishibox sends both full size and deluxe size samples in each box. So you'll always get at least one full size product. Although the boxes have all had more than that. Kbeauty deluxe samples always tend to be pretty generous anyway so you'll get a couple uses out of them for sure.

The Cost: $19.99/month.

What You Get: A curated box with a combination of 4 - 6 deluxe-sized samples and full-sized Korean beauty products from a wide range of Korean brands.

Tony Moly Panda's Dream White Hand Cream- This is pretty much a product that you'll find in every kbeauty fanatics repertoire. It's adorable! This is a shea butter hand cream with niacinamide in it. Hence the "white" in the name. This is for evening out your skintone. And it's for your hands. Never forget your hands!
Purified Water, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Glycerin, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Butylene Glycol, Niacinamide, Glyceryl Stearate, Polysorbate 60, PEG/PPG-17/6 Copolymer, Cyclopentasiloxane, Hydrogenated Polydecene, Polyglutamic Acid, Honey Extract, Phyllostachis Bambusoides Juice, Palmitic Acid, Cyclohexasiloxane, Stearic Acid, Sorbitan Stearate, Beeswax, PEG-100 Stearate, Dimethicone, Tocopheryl Acetate, Polyacrylate-13, Polyisobutene, Xantan Gum, Sorbitan Isostearate, Polysorbate 20, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Chlorphenesin, Caprylyl Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Fragrance
Value: $7.20
Yadah Sheet Mask in Brightening- This is a cotton sheet mask by Yadah. Yadah is not a usual brand so it's really nice to see it in here. It's not something that appears in subscription boxes very often. I will be using this mask because thankfully Yadah doesn't use alcohol in their sheet masks! Yay! There are no parabens or fragrances either.
Water/Aqua, Glycerin, Niacinamide, Citrus Aurantifolia (Lime) Fruit Extract, Dipentaerythrityl Hexa C5-9 Acid Esters, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Ceteth-10, Ceteth-20, Glyceryl Stearate, Ascophyllum Nodosum Extract, Epilobium Angustifolium Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Butylene Glycol, Lonicera Japonica(Honeysuckle) Flower Extract, Zanthoxylum Piperitum Fruit Extract, Citrus Paradisi(Grapefruit) Fruit Extract, PolySorbate 80, Cyclopentasiloxane, Cyclohexasiloxane, Xanthan Gum, Carbomer, Sodium Hyaluronate, Disodium EDTA, 1,2- Hexanediol, Sodium Hydroxide, Phenoxyethanol
Value: $2
Yadah Anti-T Toner- Control excess sebum with this plant-derived toner. I'll totally try this. The ingredients list looks good with lots of plant extracts. Plus, I think toner is my favorite step in my whole routine. I don't know why. I just love toners.

Yadah Anti-T Emulsion- A non greasy emulsion for use after your toner but before your moisturizer. I don't really have oil problems but that won't stop me from trying this. Emulsions are basically very light, thin lotions. Not as heavy as a moisturizer but thicker (and usually more opaque) than a serum or ampoule. I always apply from lightest to heaviest with an occasional stop after the toner for a mask or AHA peeling serum.

Tony Moly Delight Tony Tint- I just got this somewhere else... Oh, the 3B Box. That had a mini but this is a full size. This is also a staple. I personally find the Tony Delight Tint to be the best of all I've tried. Unfortunately, it appears I got orange. Ew. But the other two colors are fine. Since this liptint is so popular I already have one of these. Or two. Actually, I probably have three... I'll pass this along. Plus, orange.
Value: $5
The Face Shop Rice Ceramide Moisture Emulsion- I have the Rice Ceramide Toner but I've never tried the Emulsion! This is a full size product which is always nice to see. The emulsion has rice extracts to soothe your skin and ceramides to moisturize.
Water, Glycerin, Alcohol, Dipropylene Glycol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Hydrogenated Polydecene, Betaine, Cyclomethicone, Butylene Glycol, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Extract, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Dimethicone, Lecithin, Sodium Hyaluronate, Carbomer, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Oil, Polyglyceryl-10 Oleate, Glycosphingolipids, Ceramide 3, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Potassium Hydroxide, Disodium EDTA, Methylparaben
Value: $10

VERDICT: If you are new to kbeauty or have a hard time getting access to it, Mishibox is a really great box for you. If you are a diehard Asian beauty fan, you're probably going to find that you've either tried most of these things or you have them.  I actually am pretty excited to try the Yadah products even if they are sample sizes because I like the ingredients and I've never used them before. Everything else... well, I have the Panda and I have the Tony Moly and lets be honest, I have about ten emulsions waiting for me to use. Valuewise, the box is worth about $25 which is more than the price paid. This seems pretty typical with this kind of box. Especially when it ships from the USA.

But that's just me! If you don't have that kind of stuff, this is the box for you! Sign up here to get your own Mishibox! You'll start with September.

Canadians can also get in on the kbeauty action but shipping is an added $8.95.

What do you think of Mishibox? Are you new to kbeauty and loving it?

  1. For those who aren't subscribed to Mishibox yet, it's a fun, nicely curated box that has products which are more than worth the price of the sub box.

IF you are trying to decide between this sub and 3B sub, just let me say that the people running 3B have major problems.

I just got a July box today. And it's one product ( Skinfood RIce wash off mask- now my 4th jar of it) and their reply to me was that I get what I get when I get it because that's how they are going to send it.Something about "signup dates"which mine was MONTHS ago
    .Bad, bad business model.

  2. I haven't had any issues with 3B like the commenter above me, although I did have some issues with Mishibox when I went to cancel- the unsubscribe button didn't work and they weren't responding to my e-mails. I did log in today to find my subscription was inactive, but I still didn't receive a confirmation or response from them about it. Wasn't too thrilled about that.

Having said that, I think that this box is a huge step up from last month, which I was super unimpressed with. You're right that it's probably best for kbeauty newbies, but I do think they added some "well known" and popular items with a mix of some lesser known products from YADAH, which I think most of us are only vaguely familiar with through memeboxes. I wasn't in love with the value, but I'm a bit more forgiving because they're a smaller company. I hope they continue to boost the value of the boxes over the coming months!

  3. I've been getting MISHIBOX since the beginning, and this is my least favorite box so far. :( I hate the tiny sizes of the toner and emulsion, and wasn't thrilled about getting two emulsions in one month. I agree, the value of the box needs to increase, and they need to send a wider variety of products for me to keep this sub going. As for 3B, yeah, it's cheap, and you seem to get what you pay for. I would never sub to that one.
