The box itself is also impressive, I have to admit. Pull the silken tab and the cover pulls away to show off your perfumes.
This month's theme is "Earth, Wind, Fire" and has a very diverse collection of scents. I appreciate that diversity because it allows me to adore each one separately. In this case, I had a clear favorite but they're all gorgeous. Olfactif works on the premise that fragrances can be unisex and I think two of these highlight that fact very well.
The Cost: $18/month
What You Get: Three niche perfume samples in 2.25ml spray vials, carefully packaged and sent to your door every month. You'll also receive $18 toward the purchase of a full size bottle for the month.
Atelier de Geste "The Good Earth"- This is aptly named. It's spicy, woody, mossy and fresh. It reminds me of the forest when its wet. It's not subtle but I can't help liking it. I feel like its more husband material than me, though. How could I resist anyone who smells like this? I don't think I can.
Dame Perfumery "Dark Horse"- A spicy, musky scent. Perfect for enticing someone out to dinner. It has hints of bergamot, lemon, cinnamon, jasmine, clove, vetiver, vanilla and musk. The cinnamon really spices it up. It really is growing on me. Normally I'm not a big fan of vetiver but this... that bergamot and lemon plus the cinnamon really does it for me.
VERDICT: These are all unique, fascinating scents. It's a wonderful way to explore the hidden depths of the world of perfume. The nice thing is that subscribers get the cost of the box off the price of the full size bottle. So if you find one you love, you'll get $18 toward your purchase. Olfactif has quite a collection, too. There is so much to choose from.
