Something Snacks August 2015 "Cheesy" Review and Coupon

Something Snacks is a snack subscription that sends both unusual international snacks and some more familiar snacks at the same time. Personally, I like it that way because then I know there will always be something I'll like.

This box had a surprising addition that I thought was SO much fun!

The Cost: $13/month.

What You Get: Each box will contain 7 new and tasty, hand selected snacks. You can expect something familiar and something more out of the ordinary.

TGIFridays Cheddar and Bacon Potato Skins- I admit it. I ate these. All of them. These were treats when I was a kid and would go stay with Nana. She always bought us trash foods to eat. It was practically the best part of going over there. That and the Nintendo.

Mississippi Cheese Straws in Three Cheese- I like these snacks. I haven't opened them but I've had them before. They're sort of like those special cookies you see at weddings only they're cheesy instead of sweet.
Snack Factory Pretzel Crisps in Garlic Parmesan- I haven't opened these yet but garlic parmesan always sounds good to me.

Corkers Natural British Crunch Red Leicester and Caramelized Onions- These are... interesting. They're potato chips that really do taste like caramelized onion. I'm not a big fan of onions but I don't mind the flavor usually. But this is seriously oniony. I ate a couple because they're so weird but passed them on to the husband.
Just the Cheese Crunchy Baked Cheese in Grilled Cheese- This is puffed cheese! Little round cheese wheels that taste like sandwiches. Which is a little weird. I think I would have preferred it without the extra flavor. But otherwise, intriguing!

Naturally Nutful Red Velvet Chocolate Truffle- These don't actually have cheese in them but Red Velvet frosting is typically cream cheese and these are covered in white chocolate to look like it. I don't really care for white chocolate or truffles so these also will be going to my mom.

KitKat Cheesecake- These are from Japan! I don't know why we don't get the fun flavors. Japan seems to have the market on KitKat flavors, though. I tried green tea ones while I was there (they were okay) but I also saw "Golden Potato" flavored, too. Blech.
But these are Cheesecake! According to the instructions you can actually bake these, too! The biggest bummer about all this was that mine were melted. However I put them in the fridge and they solidified albeit not in the proper KitKat shape. These are very small which is typical. US treats are always larger. They smell like cheesecake and they're pretty sweet. I'm saving one package for my mom because she would love these.

VERDICT: This was a fun Something Snacks box! I love that there were Japanese KitKats in it! The theme was great and the snacks both tasty, interesting and taste-test worthy.

If you would like to sign up for Something Snacks, you can do that here. Use code TRY3NEW to get $3 off your first box.

Have you had Japanese Cheesecake KitKats? Or any weird flavors that you were surprised by?

  1. Cheese Straws!!! LOVE them. Old Southern favorite at teas and luncheons. Takes me a long way back. This was an excellent box, and I'm ordering some full sized boxes of the cheese straws from the company listed on the box. Loved the Kit Kat Cheesecake too. I've had mine browned and as is and I can't tell any difference in flavor except for the time I burned them. Ha.

This is probably my all time favorite Something Snacks box ever. They did a great job of curating a cohesive theme and the inclusion of 2 sweet treats ( both in multiples) of the red velvet truffles and Kit Kats from Japan was an inspired choice, especially taking the heat into consideration.

Like you, I didn't eat the Corkers. The pretzel chips are very good and will be very good with hummus if you like it.
Somehow, I always feel like this box gives me my money's worth. :) I can't stand Love With Food, I want my snacks full of fat, flavor and sugar. Ha.

    1. HAHAHA! Omg... Yes, I know what you mean about Love with Food! It's my husband's favorite box, though, because he *does* like that healthy stuff. As for me... Yep, Something Snacks, the new Treat Box... gimme sugary goodness! I did try Candy Club and that is a TON of sugar. It took me forever to get through because they send so much. But it's more money than I want to spend on a box of candy.... Hm... there is a new 30 Days of Candy, though, that I think I need to check out.

    2. I just now signed up for 30 days of Candy subscription. They have a 30% off deal for new subscribers. I found out when I .... what else?.. went to check out. :)
Code is " 30%OFF". I want to try the Eastern European box but they start with the International mixed box. :)

Looking forward to your review. Hope you subscribe soon so you get the discount. ( or bloggers may have a better deal, IDK) :)
