Autumn by Dasein- If I was to sum up the season in a fragrance, it would be this. It's described as "cinnamon-inflected woods" and it's a warm, soothing fragrance that reminds me of forests and my grandmas cinnamon rolls at the same time. In other words, it's described pretty accurately, ha! It has notes of agarwood, amber, incense, cedar, coffee, hay, nag champa, oud and cinnamon bark. It's perfect for a night-in, cuddled by the fire.
Intense Cafe by Montale- This is so... delicious and fresh. Sprayed in the air, it smells distinctly of rose. On the skin, it transforms! At first I was skeptical because of that rose but it's perfection when it sits on my wrist. It has notes of coffee, rose, amber, vanilla and white musk. I never really noticed the coffee but I did with everything else. I don't really like floral but in this the floral notes are cut so perfectly that it keeps from becoming too sweet. It's ideal for a walk outdoors, bundled up against the cold.
Geisha Noire by Aroma M- When I first smelled all of these without spraying them, I was convinced this would be my favorite. (I was also sure I wouldn't like Intense Cafe...) I was wrong. It seemed a lot spicier but once on my skin, the black amber becomes the most apparent. It's described as a smoky, sultry amber and that's exactly what it smells like. Strangely it sort of makes me think of a man working on cars. Like motor oil? I don't know. Geisha Noire has notes of black amber, sandalwood, tonka bean and vanilla. Another reason I thought I'd love it because I love all those scents except apparently black amber. Maybe it needs more time, it's a very complicated scent for me.
VERDICT:
Olfactif sent a perfect selection of Autumn perfumes. They are all perfect for the time of year. I don't know how they do it! It's always nice to find high quality perfumes that mesh perfectly with a mood, too. If Autumn by Dasein wasn't so expensive, I'd bathe in it. These are truly interesting scents with quite a bit of depth. Looking online to see what other people thought, it seems to depend so much on your chemistry. Or your nose. I had a lot of fun trying these. To me, the seem so much more... full bodied and extravagant that something I might find on the shelf anywhere.
