Glossybox November 2015 Beauty Box Subscription Review and Gilt City Offer

Glossybox is a beauty box that sends skincare and makeup products to your door every month. It’s probably one of the most classy subscription boxes out there (if “classy” can be used to describe a subscription). The packaging and presentation is superb and always feels like a gift. I think packaging is important, especially when a box is a gift. Glossybox is perfection in that regard.

I also think that Glossybox caters to an older crowd. And by older I mean not in high school. I’m not saying that someone younger wouldn’t appreciate it but there tends to be some good quality skincare that would probably go to waste. In regards to skincare… Start early. Hindsight is always 20/20 though, isn’t it.The Cost: $21/month

What You Get: Five luxury deluxe sized beauty essentials, from both well-known and emerging brands, delivered to your door each month.

Marsk Mineral Eyeshadow in You’re Toast– This looks like a shimmery golden bronze. It’s supposed to be highly pigmented and blend easily. I’m not going to use this because I really have SO MUCH eyeshadow now that I bought a few new palettes. The first Tartlette, Rainforest After Dark, the TooFaced La Grand Chateau and the Energy Noir palette (which I am totally in love with). And does this mean I want to stop there? No. Now I want Naked3, Naked2 Basics and the Laura Mercier Eye Art Artist’s Palette. I don’t need ANY of it but they’re still sitting in my cart staring at me…

Beauty for Real D-Fine Perfect Lip Pencil– I will say one thing right off the bat. This stuff does not move. I love me some lip pencil and I usually use one by Bobbi Brown but this one has staying power that Bobbi’s does not. It’s also the same color as my lips which is really nice! This is a keeper. I swatched it in the video,
Value: $14

Estee Lauder Revitalizing Supreme Global Anti-Aging Creme–  Now that’s a mouthful. This is a decent moisturizer with antioxidants, sodium hyaluronate and peptides. The sad thing is that it’s so expensive and it’s in a jar. You can get the same things in a pump from CeraVe for a literal fraction of the price. And it won’t have fragrance in it. This one isn’t bad fragrance-wise and I’ll use it as fast as I can. Maybe all at once. Head to toe, or something. Haha! I just hate jars so much I’ve actually repackaged them into pump bottles. My fingernails are just too long for jars.
Value: $9

Crabtree and Evelyn La Source Hand Therapy– I thought I’d received this before in a Glossybox but I didn’t. It was in Sample Society. This is a nice, hydrating hand cream and this is the perfect month for it. It’s freezing cold around here and my hands have been so dry!
Value: $9
Flora-py Floral Therapy Facial Sheet Mask– Sheet masks are a great way to get ultimate hydration. You can do it in the morning after washing your face or you can do it at night right before your last moisturizer. This particular mask is awesome because its got antioxidants, aloe, tea tree leaf oil and rosehip oil. I do see that there is denatured alcohol pretty far down the list and I’m okay with that. This brand is from California but the masks are made in Korea. They’re not cotton, which I assumed but they’re bio cellulose and made from coconuts. It’s more hydrogel than cotton, if you know what I’m talking about.
When you use it, take the white plastic off first, place the mask on your face in front of the mirror, then gently remove the top layer of netting. It’s much easier this way, trust me.
They are also ridiculously expensive.
Value: $8

VERDICT: This was a really fun box for me! I’ll use the mask, the liner, the hand cream and the Estee Lauder moisturizer. Finding that many new things to use is pretty great when you’re a box addict like me! I’ve always thought that Glossybox was good value for the money and I still firmly believe it. I just purchased a six month subscription so hopefully they can keep up the good work!
