Missha Time Revolution Clear Toner Review

Missha is definitely a superpower on the kbeauty skincare landscape. Several of their products have reached HG status for so many people that you can’t say Missha without conjuring up the long name ampoule and the signature purple of their Time Revolution line.

This is a mini review of one of those products. The Time Revolution Clear Toner. First, let me say that I’m picky. VERY picky about my skincare. If it doesn’t have effective ingredients in it, it’s not worth using. I don’t want to waste time using things that don’t provide a benefit to my skin. And I certainly don’t want to waste money.

There are a lot of toners out there and far too many of them aren’t worth it. Your toner doesn’t need to be an astringent, it doesn’t have to be something that cleans what your cleanser didn’t get off your face. That’s what a cleanser is for. If it’s not working, get a new one.

HYDRATION IS KEY

If there’s one product that I recommend a kbeauty brand for over all others, it’s toners. No other toners compare to Asian beauty toners. At least for now. I’m sure the rest of the world will catch on.

A toner can hydrate, brighten, combat wrinkles and umpteen million other things. Who wants a Sea Breeze astringent toner now?! No one who knows better.

Hydration is so incredibly important. Especially as we head into the dry winter months. And especially for those with dry skin- like me.

Your toner can be a hydrating workhorse for your skin. And that’s what the Missha Time Revolution Toner is.

There are several ingredients I appreciate in the Missha Time Revolution Clear Toner. It has glycerin as one of it’s main hydration component and it also has several antioxidants in the form of plant extracts. But it also has a few things that make this particular toner a keeper for me.

Ingredients:

Water, Saccharomyces Ferment, Propanediol, Glycerin, Pentylene Glycol, Piper Methysticum Leaf/Root/Stem Extract, Camellia Oleifera Seed Extract, Gaultheria Procumbens (Wintergreen) Leaf Extract, Ulmus Davidiana Root Extract, Amaranthus Caudatus Seed Extract, Phellodendron Amurense Bark Extract, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Sodium Hyaluronate, Betaine, Butylene Glycol, SOdium Citrate, Cellulose Gum, Ethylhexylglycerin, Citric Acid, Lactic Acid, Disodium EDTA, 1,2-Hexanediol, Bifida Ferment Lysate, Malic Acid, Glucose, Acetic Acid, Phenoxyethanol, Potassium Sorbate

Saccharomyces Ferment- The science on this one isn’t strong in regards to skincare but this is a yeast ferment that has antioxidant properties which help protect the skin barrier. Other claims are that it promotes wound healing and keeps skin cells from dying off too quickly. Still, if it does work, those are things I would like.

Sodium Hyaluronate- This is the smallest that Hyaluronic Acid can be broken down. This small molecule penetrates to the deepest layers of your skin, holding 1000 times its weight in water, plumping up your skin and getting rid of any fine lines.

Lactic Acid/Malic Acid/Acetic Acid/Citric Acid- These acids are common AHA’s. Alpha Hydroxy Acids clean away the dead skin cells, making way for new ones and keeps your skin bright. Dead skin cells make for dull skin. No one wants that.

Here’s a little sample of how hydrating this toner is. I put a drop on my hand.

This is a thin, watery, clear liquid and applies easily when using a cotton pad. It is INCREDIBLY soothing. I used this on chapped, dry, broken skin with zero stinging. It was such a relief to my skin after being sick with a cold. You know how noses can get.

Anyway, I tested my skin (using my handy dandy skin moisture tester) before I put the drop and my hydration levels on the back of my hand were 33% (that’s dry. not good). After I smoothed out that one little drop you see, here are my results:

My water percentage jumped 12%! And that’s JUST from the toner, nothing else. So imagine on your face after you’ve applied all the goodness that comes after the toner in your skincare routine. Sounds plump, wrinkle free and glowy to me!

The bottle I received was part of a set with the Time Revolution Night Ampoule so it’s a 125ml bottle. They also have a 250ml bottle available and that’s the one I’m getting next.

How to Use:

After washing your face, pour your Clear Toner on a cotton pad and smooth over your face. Do not rinse it off. Instead, continue with your skincare routine. Missha suggests using their First Treatment Essence afterwards but really any of your serums or essences will be fine.

A Note on Routines

When going through my skincare routine, I go from lightest to heaviest. I use more than one serum, so I use the thinnest/lightest one first and so on. Using oils can be trickier because some of them create a barrier and should go last and others are hydrating and can go on as a serum. So much to think about! If you use an oil and later find that your moisturizer is pilling on your face, it’s possible that your oil is an occlusive so your moisturizer cannot penetrate the barrier it has formed. If so, switch and use your oil last over your moisturizer.

THOUGHTS: The Missha Time Revolution Clear Toner is a hard-working, excellent toner that has kept my skin clear, smooth and hydrated. I’ve had no issues with dullness and my hydration levels have been so great. Obviously that has a lot to do with my other products but I’ve been so happy with the Missha Clear Toner. Sometimes the difference between products is quite noticeable and this is one where I noticed the postive effects immediately.

I recommend the Missha Time Revolution Clear Toner to all skin types. It’s also really reasonably priced and readily available, too.

No matter what toner you are using, make sure it is working for you. Don’t use a lazy toner! Do you have a favorite toner yet? What is the most important thing you want your toner to do?

You can get it a few places. Ebay has some but use your best judgement when purchasing that way.
