Since November is home to Thanksgiving and all it's food related glory, this box caters to the season perfectly!
The Cost: $35/month
What You Get: A combination of wholesome and homemade specialty food products, handmade candles, soaps, or other beauty products or other health and wellness items and/or sustainably-sourced coffee and tea, unique crafts or locally made chocolates and candies.
First, in an inspirational extra, My Texas Market has included a Gratitude Bag. Write down things you are thankful for, put them in the cloth bag and take them out and read them on Thanksgiving or whenever you feel like you need a reminder. I also thing it would be fun for everyone to write one, put it in the bag and then read them over dinner.
Garden Dreams Houston Cranopeno Jelly- I'm really getting into this kind of thing. The September box had a Texas Bacon Jalepeno Jelly that I took to our Halloween party. I poured it over cream cheese and it was the first thing to disappear, that's how good it was. I'd never even heard of such a thing but I had both men and women asking me where to buy it. Texas!
This one is different and is made with cranberries and jalepenos and I'm taking it to our Thanksgiving (over cream cheese again). It seems appropriate, right? Cranberries are a Thanksgiving thing. I might have to save some aside for turkey sandwiches, though.
Value: $6
Garden Dreams Houston Texas Apple Butter- Okay. So let me say one thing. Wait, I can't. I have to say more than one. This stuff is AMAZING! It's not like butter, it's like runny applesauce. All it has in it is apples, apple cider, honey, lemon juice, cinnamon, cardamom and clove. It's like... edible spiced apple cider. And it's sheer delight on toast. I bet it's even better on biscuits. I'm going to have to make some just to use this.
Value: $6
From Scratch Farm Pumpkin Spice Brown Sugar Scrub- This is made with honey, olive oil and brown sugar to exfoliate and moisturize your skin. It smells unbelievably delicious. Too bad I can't eat it. I guess the second best thing would be slathering it all over myself... It appears that you can't buy this unless you frequent farmers markets in Texas, sadly. But that's what makes My Texas Market so awesome!
Value: $10
The Pecan Shop Native Texas Pecans Family Crispy Recipe- If there's one thing I think about when Texas pops into my mind (besides heat), it's pecans. From as far back as I can remember, my grandma, who lives in Texas, has been sending us true Texas pecans. She has a tree (or two or three) in her backyard. Texas pecans are the best and I'm thrilled to see them in this box. These are wild harvest from a family farm, never frozen and are pesticide free. They're slightly salted. Sooo gooood.
Value: $7
The Tiny Collection Pumpkin Souffle Candle- This candle smells absolutely mouthwatering. It's handpoured in small batches in Dallas and a portion of each purchase goes to the ASPCA. I'm going to start burning this tonight.
Value: 11
Benjamin Soap Co. Vanilla Chai Lip Gloss Tin- Made with coconut oil, beeswax and almond oil, this lip balm is easy to pack just about anywhere. It smells amazing and has no artifical colors or preservatives.
Value: $6
VERDICT: My Texas Market does a stellar job at finding Texan goodies to spice up your life. I'm really excited to see what the December box will contain. I didn't know Texas was such a wealth of specialty goods! I've received a lot of boxes like this but this is the first one where the majority of the items continue to be useful and enjoyed. Plus I love that while it contains food, that's not all thats in there. It adds a little extra fun to the box when you really have absolutely no idea what it could contain.
If you would like to sign up for My Texas Market, you can do that here. Your subscription will begin with the October box while supplies last. Use code 10FIRST to get 10% off your first box.
