Something Snacks January 2016 Review and Coupon Code

This month Something Snacks has a theme of "Hello, World" and features snacks from around the world. Each box usually contains something familiar, something international and something fun. There is generally always something sweet and something savory, too, so there's a pretty good balance in each box.

The Cost: $13/month

What You Get: Each box will contain 7 new and tasty, hand selected snacks.  You can expect something familiar and something more out of the ordinary.
Corkers Pork Sausage and English Mustard Potato Chips- These sounded so awful I had to try them first. They actually smell like sausage links. They don't taste like sausage links, they aren't too bad actually but... a little too weird for me so I let my husband eat the rest.
Mikio Mini Breadsticks- These sticks are from Greece and are flavored with olive oil, sun dried tomato and Kalamata olive.
Mui Bon- This treat is from Mexico and is a wafer roll filled with hazelnut cream. It's coated in chocolate and peanuts. I don't like hazelnut and this was very sweet but other than that, the wafer was nice and crunchy.

Bobo's Oat Bar in Apple Pie- This is sort of like eating a big fat oatmeal cookie only less sweet and more flavorful. It was really tasty!

El Shamadan- This treat is from Egypt and it's a biscuit wafer filled with chocolate. I don't think I've ever had a Egyptian snack before! I love wafer cookies so I tried this. It actually tastes like... coffee? Sort of? Maybe? I liked it and I'm not complaining but there's no mention of coffee anywhere so I might be hallucinating. Can you hallucinate tastes?

Lee's Mint Chocolate- I loved this so much. I'm a big fan of peppermint patties and thats what this tasted like. Except it's from Scotland.
Samyang Star Popeye- I hardly know where to start with these! They're from Korea and they are a crunchy ramen snack with candies mixed in. Konpeito I think they're called. I thought it was a weird combination until I opened them and tried it. It's sweet ramen with the sugary candies. I was thinking it was going to be savory. It was really good.

VERDICT: I thought this box had a great variety of snacks and I loved the worldwide theme. I can always count on Something Snacks to have something savory, too. These were all fun to try and I really enjoyed the Popeye ramen noodles and the Lee's peppermint candy. I like the fact that while there are some unusual snacks, they aren't the kind that are so awful sounding that you don't even want to try them. The novelty factor is at the perfect strength- not too crazy but still interesting.

If you would like to sign up for Something Snacks, you can do that here. Use code BITSBOXES2 for $5 off your first box! I believe if you sign up now, you'll get this exact box but it might tell you for sure on the website.
