Boxycharm Beauty Box Subscription Review March 2016

Boxycharm is a box that focuses mostly on beauty products and makeup. If you love makeup, I think this is one of the better boxes. This month, however, is probably my least favorite Boxycharm box ever. I know that's cheerful, huh? Usually they aren't this bad. If you're not subscribed, you missed it and you can subscribe for April knowing that you at least missed the most boring box ever.

The Cost: $21/month

What You Get: Full size and luxury size beauty samples of the best beauty products from popular and chic brands. Anything from nail care and hair products to the top skin care and cosmetics.

Makeup Geek Matte Eye Shadow in Cocoa Bear- These matte shadows have a creamy texture and glide on evenly. They are highly pigmented to provide you with a stunning finish. Matte reddish brown. I haven't tried either of these shadows because I really have no way to keep them safe right now. They're set aside where they won't get smashed.
Value: $6

Makeup Geek Duo Chrome Eye Shadow in MaiTai- These duo chrome shadows have a creamy texture and glide on evenly. They are highly pigmented to provide you with a stunning finish. Mai Tai has an apricot base with orchid reflects.
Value: $6
Ofra Cosmetics Body Illuminizer in Charmer- This is a body cream that gives the skin a bronzed glow. It's not a self tanner and you only need a little in order to proved a natural glow. It also will even out your skintone. Once you apply, wait two minutes before you put your clothes on. It will stay on your skin until you wash it off.
I'm always leery of this stuff because I'm so ghost white. If I miss a spot, it seems like it would be glaringly obvious. This appears to be discontinued packaging but it's good until 2018.
Value: $39
Catherine Malandrino Style De Paris Perfume- Made with notes of ruby red grapefruit and nashi pear, with blends of orange blossom and gardenia; Style De Paris is a chic scent that is the epitome of spring. Mid notes of violet and ocean breeze and base note of patchouli.
Value: $28
Luxie Beauty 512 Small Contour Brush- 100% cruelty-free, paraben-free and vegan and coated with an antibacterial solution. I do like this brush and I've been wanting another one this size so it will be added to my collection.
Value: $16

Chella Tantalizing Taupe Eyebrow Pencil- This fine-tipped mechanical pencil is European designed with a creamy texture for easy application and a flawless, natural look.
Valu: $18

VERDICT: So why does this box disappoint me so much? What is with getting panned makeup!? Last month it was a finishing powder and this month it's two shadows. I'm not going to use things that I can't keep protected. Plus, it means I need to buy a magnetic palette in order to use them. Which I don't have. Although I have been considering it. But still, who wants to have to buy something else in order to use something? Not me. Grrr! Not impressed. Stop being cheap, Boxycharm. Although that's ridiculous of me to say because this box is worth a whopping $100. Maybe I'm just mad I don't have a magnetic palette... Hmm...

If you think I'm crazy and this box is awesome, you can sign up right here. If you sign up this month, you'll receive this box. It looks like there may have been a few variations so it might not be this exact box but you will receive one matte and one shimmer OR duochrome MUG shadow. When you sign up, it will tell you which month box you'll be getting.

What did you think of this month? Someone make me feel better and tell me something is amazing and I should try it. Or something! Haha! Or tell me which magnetic palette I should buy.

  1. Looking at this post, I was not impressed by them either. While I do not think the pans themselves are the primary issue (but I agree, that is a hassle) I feel like the products do not have the "value" of their retailed price. If you think about it, 40% of the "value" of this box is the body illuminizer...

    1. That Ofra better be amazing!! I was in such a bad mood when I opened this box, too, so that probably didn't help.:D

  2. Besides the body luminizer I love this box. The MUG shadows are great but I have magnetic palettes for singles so it doesn't bug me that they come like that. I'm sorry you're not loving it.

    1. I guess this box has opened up a whole new world for me. A world of depotting and magnetized cases. I got one today at Sephora and I'm about to commence the depotting extravaganze. So terrified I'm going to break something. Although it will cut down on clutter, that's for sure!
