My Texas Market Specialty Subscription Box February 2016 Review and Coupon Code

My Texas Market sends specialty food and gifts from the Lone Star State to your door. Texas is pretty wonderful when it comes to food and this month's box has a theme of "Tex-Italiano." For me, Texas is home to chicken fried chicken, chili, black eyed peas and catfish with hush puppies. And BBQ. I don't think I've ever eaten Italian when I'm there but that could be because on those rare occasions I hope for Spring Creek BBQ and their airy rolls or Bob's BBQ outside of Henderson. Or my grandma's sweet rolls and southern fried chicken.
Pretty much anything food related in Texas makes me happy, so of course I dug right into this box to see what we would be having for dinner.

The Cost: $35/month plus shipping (It's $44.90 total to WA)

What You Get: A combination of wholesome and homemade specialty food products, handmade candles, soaps, or other beauty products or other health and wellness items and/or sustainably-sourced coffee and tea, unique crafts or locally made chocolates and candies.

Whole Note Food Company Gluten Free Pizza Crust Mix- This is a real, yeast-leavened pizza crust with a delicious and mild flavor. It's nutritious and easy to make - just add water, olive oil, and a touch of sugar (for the yeast). I'm excited to try this! While I don't care if it's gluten free or not, this sounds like it will be one of those "rising crust" pizzas. I like the crusts.
Value: $6
Della Casa Pasta Campanelle Tricolor- This is an organic pasta made from semolina. It has no preservatives or artificial ingredients. My husband loves pasta so I'll be using this very soon to make him a tasty dinner.

Texas Hill Country Olive Co. Sola Stella Olive Oil- An ideal everyday oil due to it’s mild flavor and smooth finish, making it the perfect base for cooking, baking or finishing.
Old Factory Soap Co. Chef's Soap- This bar of chef soap features a crisp, fleeting scent of red thyme, lemongrass, cinnamon, peppermint, tea tree, lavender, and coriander.  Essential oils that create not only create a beautiful kitchen aroma, but also provide the deep clean.
Value: $8
McClure's Family Farm Roasted Garlic Salt- The roasted sweetness and butteriness of the garlic will up the flavor of any dish. This was kind of a chunk when I got it but I broke it up and used it pretty much immediately. This has only two ingredients- garlic and salt- so it's easy to add it to just about anything. So tasty!
Value: $8
Tailor Made Treats Coffee and Hazelnut Chocolates- Dark chocolates with hazelnuts and coffee beans! I love dark chocolate so I definitely enjoyed these! Delicious!

VERDICT: I enjoy getting boxes that showcase local artisans and specialty foods from specific areas. My Texas Market continues to do a great job finding a variety of foods and handmade products to fill their boxes. It's hard to avoid getting a lot of food and I appreciate it when there are other types of things included like this month had some handmade soap. Specialty boxes like this tend to come in right around the price paid for them so this particular box is probably right at that mark. It's fun when you get things that are literally impossible to get any other way-- Like the chocolates and the pasta. It's one of the things I love about local subscription boxes like these.
