Rachel Zoe Box of Style Spring 2016 Review and Coupon

The Box of Style by Rachel Zoe and the Zoe Report is one of my favorite subscriptions. The Spring 2016 box featured a spoiler of a LA Schaffer bucket bag which I was pretty excited about. This box is more expensive at $100/quarter but it definitely delivers. It's also one of the few style boxes out there even if it does contain other genres.
Unboxing is fun because everything is wrapped individually. It's like having extra birthdays throughout the year. I think this box is what I was hoping the Quarterly Co. Nina Garcia box was going to be. While I haven't loved every single thing in every box, I still feel it's worth it for me. I have an annual subscription and I plan to keep it!

The Cost: $100/quarter

What You Get: At least five products worth over $300 in fashion, beauty and lifestyle carefully curated by Rachel Zoe and her team.

Schaffer LA Leather Bucket Bag- This bag comes in a caramel leather with no hardware for a lightweight, easy to style bag. I'm actually happy there's no hardware because I tend to be a more silver person and gold might have disappointed me a little. The tag says this was designed just for Box of Style which is fun. It's a soft leather and it's not very big. It will definitely fit my wallet, phone, Kindle and sundries but it's not big enough for an iPad or a big cosmetics case.
While I love this, it's a little long for me and it's also the PERFECT boho accessory for a friend of mine. I know she'd love it. I like it, too, but it hangs below my  knee unless it's crossbody.
Value: $100
Jouer Creme Eyeshadow Stick in Abstract- There are eight different colors you could receive and I unfortunately got one I already have. Hopefully I can swap for a different color. I like Jouer and have many of their products so it's nice to see it in another box.
Value: $24

Hollywood Oil Blotting Tissues- Every box contains some kind of styling tool. At first I thought this was kind of silly but I've actually ended up using the majority of them. It might not be something I would have purchased on my own but having them has been quite handy. Especially the sticky tape. This time it's oil blotting papers. I wish I'd thought to take something like this on the plane with me because it would have been so perfect. In any case, these are compact enough to fit in any clutch and useful for reducing shine.
Value: $5
Jules Smith Pave Bar and Stone Cuff in Silver- I'm so happy it's in silver! I don't remember if I filled out preferences and they knew I preferred it or not but I got it so.. Yay! This is a very dainty, delicate piece and I love it. It has five little pave crystals in a line on one end of the cuff and a marquis cut turquoise colored stone on the other.
It's a perfect fit for me but I can imagine there might be trouble for those with larger wrists. I love this.
Value: $45
LSTN Sound Co. Wembley Earbuds- I know earbuds tend to pop up a lot in subscription boxes so this might disappoint some people but my husband goes through earbuds faster than toilet paper so I'm always happy to have more.
These are ridiculously expensive and I would never spend this much on earbuds, especially at the rate they get lost/ruined. These are for ME, though. I'm not sharing with DH and I'll hide them if I have to because they're actually cute!
Value: $100

Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk- While I'm not a fan of hair products in boxes like this, it is true that RZ has had a hair product in every box. This is a full size product which I know will make a lot of dry shampoo lovers happy. I hear a lot of good things about this brand but I've never used it because dry shampoo and I don't get along.
Value: $20
BONUS: La Mer The Concentrate- The Spring box has the first bonus product! And it's La Mer! What a great bonus, right?! "A savior of skin, the lavish, ultra-luxe size Concentrate complements skin's natural healing process with the restorative power of the sea. Designed to soothe visible irritation and redness caused by cosmetic procedures such as chemical peels, microdermabrasion and laser treatments, it is infused with a dose of highly concentrated Miracle Broth™, the heart of La Mer's profound powers of transformation. Irritation appears soothed and dry, fragile skin made strong for a radiant renewal."
After looking up the ingredients I have no clue why this stuff is $440 for less than two ounces. It's got basically nothing worthwhile in it except glycerin which is the cheapest moisturizer ever (and it's effective so it's not a bad thing!). It also has eucalyptus in it which can be quite irritating to sensitive skin.
While I wish this was a more effective and interesting product, I am glad that such a prestigious brand made it into the box. That's a good sign, wouldn't you think?

BONUS: $50 Gift Card to RachelZoe.com- This bonus was sent separately and is good until 3/31. Most things are quite expensive on her website. I was hoping to snag a ring but they're sold out.

VERDICT: Since this is one of the few boxes I get that is style related, I really look forward to it. I like the fact that it sends handbags and jewelry even though they can be "iffy" items. One thing I love about this box is the feeling of exclusivity. So many things were designed, packaged or created just for Rachel Zoe and it makes everything about the box feel very special.

If you would like to sign up for Box of Style, use code SPRING20 for $20 off the Spring box. If the code doesn't work you can use BABBOS10 for $10 off. If you sign up now, you'll get this exact box. That's the first time it's happened. It's usually sold out long beforehand. Now's your chance!

  1. I'm really looking forward to getting my box. Have no idea when that may be though, LOL.
I love the eye crayon and bracelet you received. :)

I'm anxious to see the purse because I tend to be extremely picky about casual style handbags/ shoulder bags being large enough. I'm still eyeing the red Blackwood bag from the Luxor Valentine's Day box with skepticism because it's so tiny.
A leather crafts person, like a shoe repair shop if they still exist, could safely shorten your purse strap for next to nothing if that's the only drawback for you, maybe.

    1. I heard later shipping boxes would be expedited which is pretty nice. Since annuals ship before quarterly subs, my boxes tend to be fairly "on-time." hah!

I have a cobbler near me but I don't know if he does leather generally. I'll have to call and ask. The bag is a nice, unobtrusive size. I wouldn't call it a statement piece but I would call it very handy. :) I am still on the fence because it would make such a perfect gift for my friend. She'd get way more use out of it than I would, too.

My favorite thing is the cuff bracelet, though. For sure.

I can't believe the La Mer sample that's pretty fancy isn't it?

    1. I did!! SO much fun! Everyone was so unbelievably nice. We had a great time touring around. The weather was bizarre and the wind was killer but it all made falling in the door of a nearby pub even more attractive.
I love how old everything is. We have nothing like that here in the US and it just fascinates me that some of the structures have been there for five thousand years.

The La Mer is very fancy, I think! That's expensive stuff! Unaccountably so but still. :)
