Scentbird Fragrance Subscription Review March 2016 and Coupon Code

Scentbird is my favorite way to get perfume. It comes perfectly packaged in doses meant for a month's regular use and is an affordable, reasonable price. Plus, since I don't use perfume every day, it lasts a lot longer than prescribed and I have an ever rotating collection of scents to choose from when I do wear it.
So far I haven't received any scents that I haven't liked. There have been some that don't last as long as others but I still like the scent. It's a really great way to try perfumes and find out what you do and don't enjoy about them without having to purchase a giant bottle. It's basically the perfect subscription for me because it takes me YEARS to get through those big bottles. And I'm talking a decade or so. This way I don't have to feel bad for not using the same perfume over and over just to get rid of it.

The Cost: $14.95/month.

What You Get: Each month you will receive one 8ml purse spray of the scent of your choice based on your profile.  The first month, you will receive the black atomizer case for the perfume and a carrysack for it.

This month I chose YSL Black Opium EDT. This was recommended to me once I filled out the scent profile Scentbird provides. This scent questionnaire has actually been really good at showing my scents I'll like. Over the last few months I've gone solely off of what it tells me I'll like and I haven't had a miss.
Black Opium has notes of black coffee, white florals of jasmine sambac and absolu of fleur d’oranger and vanilla with and the woody notes of cedar and patchouli. I found it more floral than coffee. And while I hate florals, this was tempered so well that I don't find it irritating at all. Instead I wore it out for date night and my husband commented on how good I smelled. I'd say that's a win!
With your first month, you'll receive your chosen perfume in a glass spray vial, along with an atomizer case and a faux velvet drawstring pouch. I have to admit I've never used the pouch because the case itself is perfectly handy and is fine just tossed into my purse. I have never had any issues with leaking or accidental sprays either.
Instructions for use are included in the padded black envelope as well. Just in case there is any confusion. You only receive one black case so knowing how to change your vials is pretty important. You can purchase extra cases of a varying selection of colors separately, though. I freely admit I had to snag a red one.
I highly recommend this service if you are at all interested in expanding your fragrance collection. Especially because Scentbird had been acquiring niche scents from independent perfumers!! How awesome is that?! I'm seriously excited about it and I've already ordered up some Comptoir Sud Pacifique Vanille Coco and I love it.
Not only that but you can get Nest, Odin, Clean, Juliette Has a Gun, Histoires de Parfum, Etat Libre d'Orange, CoStume National plus a billion more common ones. Okay, maybe not a billion but there's lots and the catalog is expanding day by day.

VERDICT: Frankly, I love it! It's so much fun. I love getting the new perfumes. I love having so many choices when I am trying to decide how I feel and what perfume matches my mood and activity. It's also fun to take the questionnaire over and over and see what's recommended. Maybe I'm crazy but I'm hooked!

If you'd like to sign up for Scentbird, you can do that here. Use code MBIRD25 for 25% off your first month. If you're a man and you want to dig through only manly scents, you can head to Scentbird Man right here. If the first code doesn't work you can also try NEW15 for 15% off.

*This product was sent complimentary for review purposes. All opinions are mine and I was subscribed to Scentbird for many months!

  1. I like exotic, spicy, woodsy type fragrances, and hubby likes florals. I found out because he always buys me florals and then asks me why I am not wearing HIS perfume. As in " I hate that spicy blend you are wearing, my dear", but he's too diplomatic to say so.
My solution is to just let them send the fragrance of the month, because odds are, half will be floral and the rest will be either citrus-y, woodsy or spicy. If I want something else specifically, I have to do the a la carte at the higher price. I wish so much they'd allow add ons just before they ship our boxes, like Birchbox does. I'd buy a lot more if I wasn't paying $20 per extra vial on top of the monthly shipment. I live where the sales tax and shipping is high, I guess?

    1. I never thought of that! I guess I'm lucky that my husband likes the same ones I do. Although, I did have him say a few days ago that he didn't like the one I was wearing. Why? Because it smelled like his sister and he didn't like thinking of his sister when I was his wife. LOL!!
